I love this place. My aunt lives less than a block from here and I don't know why I never stopped in sooner. Nothing Is better than getting quality local meats at the same price, less, or close to other major grocery store chain meat prices. We got over 15lbs of meat for $60. Not to forget to mention, other people must think it's a good butcher too because the place was PACKED. THE ASTHETIC inside is very meat like and they have a butcher knife as the door handle to open. I absolutely love this meat market and it is well worth a trip - even if you have to go out of your way to get there. Every single one of the staff that works there is so so friendly and helpful. This is a local owned butcher shop and it is always evident that they care immensely for their customers. Their selection is amazing and if there's something that you don't see that you want, they probably will go out of their way to get that for you! Besides the meat market part of it, they also have a really great sandwich selection for made to order sandwiches and a hot selection. Their smoked brisket and ribs are second to none. Went recently for the Excalibur & a pulled porchetta sandwich. I don't feel like the portions were as stacked as you see some of the local food influencers get, but other than that it's a great place. Don't plan to eat there at a table, there's one outside and I can't recall if there were any inside but it's small & if there's a crowd you're packed in there. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, they were crazy busy but you'd never tell if they were stressed or overwhelmed. This place is actually pretty damn amazing. The details of the decor they put in to this place are absolutely gorgeous, unique and clever or shall I say "cleaver". Service was attentive from everyone. So many delicious items to choose from there. I came specifically to grab a sandwich after doing a quick search online, knowing I would be in the area. An fyi for first timers, there's a little form at the first counter on the right, just after you walk in. Use a form for each sandwich you'd like, hand it to the person behind the counter and wait for them to call your name. I am so pleasantly surprised at how delicious the sandwich was. The bread, THE BREAD, was perfectly toasted but not hard. It was crispy, yet light and airy--so good. It looks super bready but it was not. The crust on their brisket, chef's kiss. Flicker meats - now white bear butchery This place is tremendous. The staff always seems to be having a good time and are very helpful. My wife and I love to come here for a sandwich. The meat is great too but the sandwiches are the real standout. They are some of the best I've had. They are are like a work of art and seem to be made with care and not just slapped together. We can easily split one between the two of us but I've also polished one off on my own. We most recently had the porketta and I'd recommend you anyone. They got a little bit of everything in this place even though it's a smaller size store there's a lot to look at .All the employees are super friendly and helpful. Grant in the back is super awesome friendly, and customer driven . Both times I went He offered to cut me any thickness I want. First time here to get the Excalibear sandwich because of a video I saw online. I've lived near here for a long time and didn't know it had sandwiches as well. This place was packed and all ordering the same sandwich to which I waited an hour and 10 minutes for from order to hand off. I also got the pork & hog. Both sandwiches did not disappoint. Between myself, my husband and our 17 year old, we were full!! Very generous with the meat and the seasonings and toppings were perfection. $38 for 2 sandwiches but was worth it. Phenomenal food! Stopped in finally after moving into the area and their giant sandwiches are actually amazing for the price. The sandwich process is easy enough with fill out forms to give to them. They do not skimp out on any meat or toppings and it's super filling, worth every bite! I also tried their ribs with a side and they definitely know what they're doing. The shop itself is super cozy with a lot of character and the employees are really helpful, always making sure you know they're ready to help you out. I even noticed they sell homemade pet food while I was checking out the stock. I was in the area. A thrift store I hoped to shop at was closed. I had to ask the prices of smoked bones, beef trachea, etc. A small sign would have made sense. From the dog bones my big puppy loves to the excalibear that I just tried the other day.. Oh that brisket!! Butch the Bear marks the spot! It is recent polar bear statue erected at the front of the store. Thoroughly impressed with this butcher that I visit weekly. Every single staffer is engaged and enthusiastic about their work. They make an effort to greet and make sure your order is how you want it. And I will add that even though they don't know my name, they definitely know my face and are great at predicting my order. The quality of ground beef is far superior than anything you could get at ALDI or Cub. Once you eat it, it is very hard to eat any other type of ground beef. As a bonus, they have a delicious sample section more generous than anything Costco could offer, usually a beef stick and a slow cooker sausage. read more

What an experience! I was at the liquor store nearby and could SMELL the smoked meats from Flicker and had to pop in. Needless to say I'll be back. While I haven't tried any of the meats, there's a sandwich bar that is absolutely primo. I got the Supreme Turkey and added horseradish, it was so good. The bread was soft and fresh, Turkey tasted like it was just shaved a second ago and the bacon was thick and almost tasted candied. 10/10! Flicker in WBL is a destination meat shop. Their meast selection is excellent and everything I've tried is fantastic. I always stop here for my briskets, steaks, chops, and pork shoulder. Don't skip their house cured bacon and their amazing deli meat selection. Delicious. Besides excellent product, Flicker is just a fun place to stop. This is the best butcher on the east side of the Twin Cities. They smoke and make all their own meats and jerkies. Great mix for f beef and pork options, including waygu. The smell is amazing when you walk in. Everyone who works there is super nice and helpful. We ordered a double smoked ham from them for the holidays earlier this year; amazing!! read more

The Thursday ribfest is what got my interest up. Never been to this side of WBL. Two types. The main one is a big block of ribs. This has quite a thick, spicy dry rub. It's not the easiest to eat, but still very good. I loved the spare ribs as well. They have a cool freezer section and the Shepard's pie looks good for future dinners. They carry cool stuff like Entemann's baked goods. I tried 2 deli salads potato was standard deli type. So was the macaroni with the sweet dressing. I didn't like the peas in it. Usually it's got some crunch like carrots and peppers. The baked beans were loaded with pieces of bacon. It's sweet like I prefer it. Sounds strange, but I'd prefer less bacon and more beans. The corn bread was the star for me. They carry vegetables which is handy. I like that the deli meat is right as you walk in. A young lad helped me carry everything to the trunk. The rib carrier was huge and I got the small one. A true old fashioned deli. read more

I showed up it flickers meat five minutes after closing, didn't think that I was going to get a response at all from the door, but the young man let me in for just a brief shop about. They were so helpful they did not seem to be just pushing me out the door they were truly friendly. I'm a big fan of macaroni and salad and homemade salads I will tell you right now that it is one of the best store-bought macaroni salad as you could find. The beef jerky's are amazing. Got a groupon for Flicker's Meat Market Jerky Package for $25, and it was the best $25 ever spent (and I'm a lover of Groupon). You get spicy beef jerky, a bunch of nummy chicken, turkey and beef jerky sticks of a variety of spicy-levels, and chicken jerky. Aside from the groupon, I also got some of the beef jerky teriyaki flavor, and the spicy beef jerky and they were also amazing. I will be going back for checking out the pork loins and other meat products. They also have freshly ground local beef, and everyone at the store was super friendly and helpful! P.S. I love Flicker. We got a meat and cheese tray at Christmas that was so good if you weren't standing right next to it when it was brought out, you were out of luck. It was like a pack of hyenas on an antelope. Luckily we had picked up a few additional packs of beef sticks so we had reserves. When you walk in you are immediately hit with the smell of smoked meat. Everywhere you turn you are confronted with delicious looking options. I want to try everything. I've been to flicker many many times over the past several years. Their spicy sausage can't be beat! But after this weekend I will be a frequent flier. I sent my husband out for a 3-4lb tenderloin for beef Wellington. I told him to check flicker and sams club. He started at Kowalskis , then sams club and finally flicker. We ended up with a beautiful 5 lb tenderloin for 1/3 the price of Kowalskis and they cleaned it up, and trimmed it down before weighing and selling it. The Wellington was perfect!! I finally made it to White Bear Lake to check this store out. Its on the SE corner of Co Rd E East and White Bear Ave. Its a butcher shop packed with meat. It reminded me of Hackenmueller's but roomier. No clue what to get, but we sample some Jalapeno brats and are sold. We also picked up some tasty pork chops for tomorrow. Located in a strip mall, I thought it might be tiny. I was wrong, but it does still feel a little cramped inside.
