The establishment was named after Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin - a prominent 19th century businessman who purchased over 40,000 acres of land in SoCal including Rancho Santa Anita, which became the foundation for Arcadia, Baldwin Park, & Baldwin Hills. He also built the opulent Baldwin Hotel & Theatre in San Francisco. I've been here in the past to watch Soccer matches with friends. The vibe is lively, especially during a match. Inside is reminiscent of a cozy countryside pub with exposed brick & wooden beams. The outdoor patio is dog friendly (they even have a doggie menu), and it is charming at night with the lights. My friend and I stopped in for a drink. He had a beer and I had a glass of Chandon. (They do have a full bar.) The bartender was friendly and checked on us frequently. We enjoyed our visit and conversation. I'm sure this place will be packed during World Cup. *Dog Friendly *Adjacent parking garage (90 mins free) or metered street parking.

Happy to say…read moreit's still the same cozy, welcoming place, with friendly servers and a beer selection that's hard to beat -- possibly, it can't be beaten at all. That said, when I'm in a Pub I tend to go for Guinness or some kind of 1/2 & 1/2, and this time I chose Smithwick's with a Guinness topper. My bartender, Sarah, proffered a perfect poor, with a smile and a laugh, and I was ready for a good time. The menu is packed with traditional pub favorites plus other general sandwiches and salads, etc. I decided on their Reuben, which is built with Corned Beef, Swiss, Sauerkraut, both Russian AND Mustard, and it's served with fresh cut Fries. The sandwich was hearty and generously made, with flavorful corned beef boasting all the best of the pickling spices without too much salt -- the cook knows how to balance flavors. The sauerkraut and melty Swiss provided a rich, acidic contrast to the beef, an effect echoed by the blending of Russian with Brown Mustard. Then there was the bread -- an artisan rye with good flavor, appealing texture and just the right amount of fresh seeds to let you know this bread came from an oven not a bag. Fries were hand cut, as advertised, arriving hot and crispy with just the right dusting of salt -- a perfect match for the Reuben. This being Monday night, it was quiet on Colorado Blvd., and the restaurant had only a few people at dinner time. While this was a laid-back visit, I'm well aware the place can get busy and boisterous when people descend on their back-alley entrance, and it's hard to know which scenario would be better: the high energy pulse or the calm conversation. Best to come in multiple times for a proper scientific analysis (as well as several cold pints and a few very good meals).

I went solo but they have tables in tons of sizes so group hangs and dates are good here, too! Personally, I love a good people watching spot and enjoyed hanging out at Stone yesterday afternoon. I grabbed a tall two top in the corner of the outdoor patio and was super relaxed. The staff was great, helping me with recommendations and super quick & generous on the pours. I came in to try a 2016 Imperial Russian Stout I saw they had tapped and ended up trying taster size portions of 6 beers - all very solid. I'm biased to love deep cuts so the 10.6% Imperial Russian Stout was my fav of the day but I also enjoyed the lightness of the Stone Wil Power, a 4.5% fruited kettle sour with mango, tangerine and lychee. They have a ton of indoor seating but also the patio is just so nice & relaxing here. Very chill, quiet vibes and they open at 12pm on weekdays. Perfect atmosphere for work meetings or a liquid lunch meetup. Even the bathroom was cool with colorful grafitti abound. I liked the whole vibe of Stone. It's a cool brewery plopped down in the middle of Pasadena! For non-beer people, a Miller Lite is 4.2% in comparison so why not have a much tastier craft beer in place of that swill! Really enjoyed Stone Brewing in Pasadena and it was a perfect experience. I will absolutely be back!

When did they start selling frozen margaritas?! My wife loved hers! She's not so much a beer drinker, so this was perfect! I opted for the Stone Delicious Double IPA and it didn't disappoint. The "beertenders" were also great and offered recommendations from their vast menu of beers on tap. I also noticed that they still also fill growlers, which is amazing! I'll have to bring mine next time so that I can take some home for the ones that aren't bottled or canned. Parking is readily available underground and it was $1 for us being there almost an hour. Looks like parking is $1 for the first two hours and an additional $2 for each additional hour with a $12 max. Also, don't forget to download their app and register - there's currently a limited time promotion for 50% off your first pint!

We started out with a strawberry sofrita and burrata dish. This had some many herbs and spices in and and was and had a nice combo of sweet and salty. I got the catch of the day that was a halibut over jasmine rice that came in the smoked red sauce, so good and could have very easily shared it. I think what is most impressive about this place is the size of the kitchen. Everyone inside is pretty much eating at chefs table and really only separated by a counter that you can't sit at. Goes to show, you don't need a big kitchen to deliver old flavors like they did, well done! Will definitely be going back to try other dishes.

I really enjoyed this with the whipped honey butter. The Agnes cinnamon roll was decent, but not quite gooey enough for me. The food would be good if it was seasoned. I say that because it's very nicely prepared, cooked and presented - but it's bland. The mushroom & leek omelet was beautiful, but it needed salt. It didn't seem like they'd used any at all. The endive citronette that came on the side was nice; I liked the dressing. The crispy tator tots were just fine, nothing special (and also needed a little salt). My friends that got the grits carbonara and the quiche pot pie said their food was also underseasoned. The service was a little lackluster. They were nice, but seemed understaffed. The restaurant itself was nice. It's a large clean space with lots of light, and room between the tables. Bathrooms are decent. For underseasoned food and lackluster service, it feels overpriced. My omelette was $28, and the egg dishes ranged from $22-30. If I had gotten nothing else, my bill plus tax and 20% tip (we had 6 people) would have been about $37 (which is really high for an omelette - I know it was my choice to still order it, but I do think it's worth stating that it's expensive). Of course, I did also get coffee, and some other things to share with the table. But that's part of the fun of brunch with friends! There is limited street parking around, but the De Lacey lot is just down the street and around the corner. It's currently $1 for the first two hours, and then $2 each additional hour with a $12 daily max.

Waiter Manuel. This…read moreis a review reflected on you, solely. Being kind is the moral of the story, from the beginning you were passive agressive with your comments and tone. Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.
