She was extremely communicative, helpful, honest, and proactive - and helped make our vision a reality. We planned our whole wedding, but also work several jobs and live out of state. So at times, it was challenging to stick to our timeline and keep track of all the moving pieces. Here are the qualities we experienced with Lauren, and I'm confident you'd get the same: PROACTIVE: We shared our planning document with Lauren early on, and she was so great about jumping in and providing recommendations, asking questions we hadn't thought of, and reminding us to do things before it was too late. We had a list of "items we need" and Lauren went so far as to lend us some things she had, search Craigslist/Offer Up/ Etsy to make suggestions, and even went out of her way to pick up some decor for us from a vendor in CA since we were out of state. HELPFUL: Lauren helped us navigate how to get our marriage license and sent us a very detailed email with all the specifics. These little things REALLY add up when you're running 100 miles per hour with your job, planning, family stuff, etc. COMMUNICATIVE: Lauren took the initiative to reach out to all of our other vendors to check in with them, answer questions, provide information and make sure they had what they needed. Towards the end, she also took over communication with our venue on our behalf, which was a weight off my shoulders because they kept forgetting things I had told them! It was nice to have her as the middle-woman. By the time we actually got to the wedding, Lauren was so familiar with our vision and plan that everything was flawless!! ACTION-ORIENTED: I had intended to be much more involved on the day with helping get set up - but I didn't get a single thing done on my to-do list because everyone was talking to us / asking how to help / etc etc - it was so overwhelming but I knew that I could comfortably go upstairs to get ready with the girls and Lauren would have it handled. By the time we walked out for the ceremony, everything was STUNNING. Lauren helped set up the table decor, all the signage, the florals, etc. I had so many family and guests say what a hard worker her and her husband (who showed up to give an extra set of hands) are. I have to admit, I really had to convince my husband (and other family members involved in the wedding) that we even needed a coordinator and to make space for it in the budget. Given that we were planning it all and had so much help, it was difficult to convince some people. We were hesitant at first since every other vendor was a friend or acquaintance and we weren't sure we needed a coordinator. And for all the people who were skeptical about hiring a coordinator, they all understood what a necessary role they plays when they saw Lauren and her husband in action. For anyone in a similar situation: DON'T SKIP OUT ON IT. Having someone that is not directly involved with your guests is essential in getting stuff done. From the planning to having someone give a non-biased perspective, to all the help setting up, breaking down, and making sure guests knew where to go and what to do - the day wouldn't have been the same without Fancy Fern Events. She will allow you to sit back and enjoy your special day with all our closest friends and family, without worrying about a thing! We first spoke to Katie for an initial call and she was really knowledgable and friendly that I was sad to hear we would be working with another coordinator, but Emily happily jumped on a call to ease any worries I may have had. We went with the Month of Coordination service which allowed us to do most of the planning ourselves (most of our vendors were locked in early on, but MB provides a lovely list of vendors they've worked with in case it's needed). Emily had us fill out a very detailed questionnaire (you can tell they know what they're doing with the questions being asked) and went over every detail with us, including areas we were still figuring out. She was available for any questions I had as well leading up to the day, made sure to reach out to all of our vendors with the master timeline, and even provided some guidance for my cousin that was officiating for the first time. A big bonus is how many weddings they've coordinated at Walnut Grove that they're very familiar with the venue and the folks from Command Performance Catering. Emily led us through rehearsal the day before and made sure the actual wedding day went smoothly. She made it possible for us to focus on enjoying the day with our friends and family, but still keep on schedule with her gentle reminders.

With Candy and Tenny I could tell that behind the talks of making my dreams a reality, they had the skill, creativity, and resources to ensure that this happened. Before we left their office that day, we decided to book them for our wedding decor and month of/day of coordination. Throughout the process, the ladies were very accommodating! They would take images or visions that I had for the decor and elevate them. THEN allll of a sudden, COVID-19 came out of no where! I honestly had no idea what I was going to do about my wedding. About 4 weeks before the wedding, my fiancé and I decided to have a quarantine wedding. I told candy and tenny that if we were having a quarantine wedding, then it was going to be the best one ever!! It was a daunting task because we were planning a whole new celebration (from 650 to 40) in a new space (from a venue to my parents home) BUT these ladies helped me transform my parents home for my Ghanaian Traditional Marriage and my white wedding. I loveddd it and love them! Tenny created my decor scheme and executed it. She worked with me to incorporate pieces of my vision and recommended ways we could elevate it. Candy and Joi were my coordinating team. In the four weeks leading up to the big days, we have several calls to ensure things were in order. Even though I'm a planner, planning my own wedding I forgot stuff so having someone to keep me in line was amazing. Joi was with me in the hotel as I got ready, chatted with my family like she was part of the fam. Candy was at my parents house keeping things in order. Part of the anxiety which I'm sure many of you are aware of was due to our vendors resisting to respond to our calls/emails on time or contractual disagreements which in our case turned out to be with our venue. I'd love to think I handled it, but far from the truth...Charley stepped in to regulate those vendors in order and also aided with the contract negotiations. The point I'm proving here is that she's so much more than just a wedding day coordinator, she's so involved that it feels like a true friendship. In the beginning I had a thought "we don't need a coordinator" or "we just need a coordinator for the day of" well I'm happy we didn't make that mistake. She worked with them all day Friday set up, to make our dream come true, our party was on Sunday, and the venue event person there they have never seen it done so well, the whole thing!
