I had an extremely frustrating experience with this studio as a first-time customer. I made the…read moreappointment the same morning, approximately 30 minutes before the appointment time, so this was not an appointment I'd had scheduled for days or weeks, nor had I ever been to this location before. I was literally trying to find the studio for the first time. They have a seven-minute grace period, which is unusually strict, particularly given how difficult their location is to navigate. I was not given clear instructions about where to park. Once you arrive, there is no sign identifying the studio by its name anywhere that I could see. The building signage/directory was in Korean, and I could not find English signage identifying the studio. As someone who does not read Korean and had never been there before, I had no obvious way of knowing where the business was located. I called approximately eight minutes after my appointment time while I was already parking and explained that I was there and that finding the parking had been confusing. I was told that my appointment had already been canceled because they only offer a seven-minute grace period. So, to be clear: I was a first-time customer who had booked approximately 30 minutes earlier, was physically at the location and parking, and was ONE MINUTE beyond their grace period--and they had already canceled my appointment. On top of that, they never notified me that they canceled it. No call. No text. Nothing. Had I not called them myself, I would have parked, gone inside, tried to navigate a building where their studio was not clearly identified to me, and apparently only then discovered that my appointment had been canceled. I completely understand businesses having late policies. What I don't understand is having such a rigid seven-minute cutoff while providing a first-time customer with inadequate information for navigating an unfamiliar and confusing location--and then offering absolutely no understanding or flexibility when that customer is already there and parking one minute beyond the cutoff. The way the phone conversation was handled was probably the most disappointing part. There was no attempt to understand the situation, help, accommodate me, or even acknowledge the confusion. It was simply that my appointment had already been canceled. The interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude. Policies are one thing; customer service is another. If you're going to have an unusually strict seven-minute grace period, then provide first-time customers with exceptionally clear parking and arrival instructions and notify them if you're canceling their appointment. A little communication, courtesy, and reasonable flexibility would have completely changed this experience. Instead, they lost a brand-new customer before I ever even made it through the door. I will not be returning.

For…read morecontext, there were things on my end that caused some issues/inconveniences, but everyone I interacted with went beyond making my experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. Initially, I had some trouble booking an appointment online. I ended up reaching out to the posted phone number, and I was helped out promptly (even though I messaged them relatively late, and usually past open hours for other businesses.) With their help and knowledge, they were able to figure out that it was the internet browser and autofill that was preventing the webpage from working properly. Once that was figured out, everything went according to plan and I was able to successfully make a booking. Additionally, I was so blessed to have had Ashley guide me through my first time. She was clearly knowledgeable in her expertise and I cannot emphasize enough how great of an educator she was! I had LOTS of questions but she clearly and warmly communicated the information with me. I also want to highlight how safe the environment she provided was. You can tell how much care and consideration she puts into every client's individual and personal wants and needs. Also, this is technically outside the services, but I had a little predicament (absolutely caused by me) before the start of my appointment. I was already having a tough day and was just looking forward to the waxing as a way to end the night. With my luck, I accidentally dropped my keys in the locked stairwell when I was climbing up from the garage So many scenarios and "solutions" were running through my head but everything made me feel defeated. It took lots of rumination and freaking out, but I ended up just going up to Brave Kitty Waxing and communicating my situation with them. I was warmly welcomed by Ashley and right from the start, she treated me with kindness and respect. I was a HUGE nervous wreck but she recognized the situation and she was able to problem solve quickly. We did end up getting it resolved and I got my keys back! I wanted to mention this as this problem was 100% my fault and caused by me and she absolutely did not need to help me out. This happened right before my scheduled slot time and I felt so bad taking so much of her time and energy. Our very first interaction was me freaking out BAD, but she was nothing but a beacon of joy and calm. I was also evidently still anxious/jittery once we started our session, but Ashley's presence and professionalism was very grounding and reassured how safe I felt in their hands throughout the whole process. My first experience had some bumps (because of me) but I was met with nothing but understanding and compassion from everyone who helped me out with Brave Kitty Waxing (+the maintenance man I would like to give him recognition and thanks as well.) I was already aware of the environment they provided (from others' reviews), but I was not expecting how much above and beyond everyone would be. I am excitedly looking forward to my future sessions! Safe space for women of all shapes and sizes. Worth every penny! My first experience with Brave Kitty was almost 10 years ago at their previous location. I went in for a Brazilian at 8 1/2 months pregnant. I felt like a whale, but the lady made me feel so welcomed. She did an amazing job and it was quick. After having kids I just never got waxed again. Then finally 1 year ago I decided it was time to ditch the razor and get back to waxing. I've been going regularly since then. Would recommend this place to every woman. 100/100

Additionally, there's about 3 nail desks, but at least there are couches and a nice, big screen tv for waiting. The price is on par with the cost of nail salons in LA and I'm impressed by the technique and tools used. I think patrons forget that aside from a nail technician's creativity for nail art, she needs the right tools! And Tina has them. I give Tina 4.5 stars and here's why: small detail - there's a ton of colors to choose from, but we as customers can't access them and pick them out for ourselves. We have to tell the technician what color we want and they pick out a few to show us. I'd rather evaluate colors myself. A first for me. The other detail - and why I've moved on to another salon is that I typically get a gelx manicure: the two times I've gotten this service done, the gelx popped off a finger (or two) after 1-2 weeks. That means, I need to run back and get it corrected, which is more time and money I don't care to spend (I've been able to have my gelx stay on (and get refills) for more than a 2 weeks elsewhere). So that being said, 4.5 stars and would come back for a service aside from gelx. Thank you!

To my surprise, I got a response from Connie of Glow Beauty Waxing, who told me Han was no longer in the state and that she, Connie, would be taking care of all clients in the meantime. She assured me that she'd been working with Han for over ten years, and that yes, she could see me that very afternoon. Han is apparently in Hawaii now, unless of course Connie has Talented Mr. Ripleyed her and taken her phone number and client list. I suspect this is not the case, as Connie is very sweet. She is also an excellent esthetician, and I will be going to her from now on for all my eyebrow needs. I met her in her little room inside Cherie Nail at the Koreatown Galleria, next to the food court. It was a neat, functional space, with a single bed for customers to lie down and entrust her with their faces. It had been over a year since my last microblading appointment, and the pigment had definitely faded. Connie also pointed out that it had turned slightly red, noting that the fine lines made by microblading smudged and turned reddish on some people's skin. She suggested a different permanent makeup technique that might be better for me, and I told her to go ahead and do as she thought best. She sketched out a shape, which I approved, then waxed my brows and started the process of filling them in. I took a nap and woke up with fresh, handsome eyebrows that had no relation to my DNA. Connie used a technique I'd never heard of called powder spray, and it looks fantastic. Less natural than microblading but like meticulous make-up, better than any pencil job I've ever done. It was also significantly less painful than microblading. It's been a little over a week and I love my new eyebrows. I also love that I don't have to think about them until my touch-up in a month or so, and for another year or whatever after that. I hope Han is enjoying Hawaii, and I'm happy to have Connie in charge of my brows.

It was my third time went to this place after I've done my gel-nail done here. It was very nice place for the first time that all manicurists seemed like professional and their price was pretty worth it. Second time when I got there, I had both of nail/pedi and I paid for $80 which was quite expensive comparing to other places(I just got a deep french with glitter). Okay it is fine. But, now I doubt if I should keep going this place since I am very disappointed with them. I showed my manicurist a picture that I wanted to get the same. As soon as She looked at my picture and said ''It wouldn't look good on your hand. It looks so messy''. It was just a simple deep french with animal print. May be she wasn't that skillful? Hm.... ok. I showed her another picture for my second choice and It was like nude-rosy pink color with gold glitter. It looked really beautiful and I asked her if she could put the same color like a picture and she said ''Of course!''. AHHHH it was totally different! It was much close to white color! It's official... after months of searching I have finally found my new nail salon! I know I know, everyone was so concerned ;) After my wonderful nail lady moved last year I was forced to find a new place to come. Yelp and friends' recommendations led me to try about 15 different places before Angel's. Usually I like to stick with one guy/gal at anyplace so they know what I like and whatnot. I've been to Angel's four different times now and been helped by 3 different people, all did a great job. I'm very picky about my nails and they exceed my expectations. The ladies who work here are soooo adorable, in that cute old ajooma kind of way. This is my come to spot for my nails! I've been here three times already and they never disappoint. Their specialty is on gel gradation and they have lasted me sooo long (around two months) without getting scratched or anything. I initially chose this salon because of the peaceful atmosphere and because the more popular LA nail salons' hectic environments stress me out, but it looks like I'm back on the hunt for a new nail salon again. It's a shame because the staff are very kind, and respectful. If you are the owner and you are reading this, please use stronger glues and adhere your gel extensions better, otherwise you will keep losing business from those that want to support you.

This review is for management's attention…read more I called a day prior to schedule an appointment for regular pedicure and manicure. Appointment time between 10am-10:30am. Arrived 10:15am today. Staff member started on my pedicure. Other staff were busy with their customers. She did a nice job on my toes. I'm pleased with her service, nail color, her attention to detail and cleaning. Thank you. However, my experience with staff member who did my manicure, was an unpleasant experience and therefore, I will never return to this location. She began to remove the old gel from my nails. A woman with no appointment enters the salon inquiring about nail services. The lady working on my nails begins to ask her questions about what services she was seeking. I heard her quote the customer afterwards, around $80 and to come back in twenty minutes. I thought "wow. Is she going to rush her job on my nails for a walk-in asking for extensive services?" Yes, that's what happened. I noticed a change in her pace while working on my nails. She was rushing through manicure. During this time I asked her about payment. Last time I came in was December of last year, and paid with Zelle but usually prefer to pay cash. Asked if they give receipts for cash payments. She said no. I usually ask for receipts to track my expenses. Then asked her is it just Zelle they accept or credit card as well. She said Zelle no cc. Normally don't care for Zelle, prefer Venmo so to pay with cash back. A very nice perk of Venmo. She thought I was getting gel and I said "oh no, not today. Just regular. I'll be back another time for gel." I'm not sure what caused a change in her mood and demeanor but she gets up to get nail polish, comes back to me, gets her phone out and says to me: "You pay now on Zelle for both jobs before I start second one. Before I do job on your nails." The moment was unpleasant, awful feeling, and I was startled. Her tone in delivering her message was very different than from her speech prior to this incident. Her vibe was negative, disrespectful, and rude. I am a patient and graceful person. In that moment I decided to go with Zelle and not give her my cash. I brought $200.00 with me to pay for nail salon and other errands afterwards. I kindly said "ok, sure. Give me a second. "I then showed her the name already saved on my Zelle to confirm it was correct and to show her that this paying customer has paid them via Zelle. She then asked to see transaction after payment so she can take a photo. Cost for regular pedi was $40 and regular mani $30. I was not told to pay in advance on my last visit in December. She did my gel pedi during that visit. She proceeded to polish my nails and did a messy job because the walk-in individual came back exactly in twenty minutes. She finishes her sloppy job on my nails and begins to work with new customer. She comes back to me and before she adds a clear coat I asked her to clean the corners because they were messy so she does. Each moment she speaks to me it's short and as if she is upset. Perhaps she's miserable doing what she does for a living and takes it out on others. Not sure how she would have finished a gel job in twenty minutes if she did a poor job with a regular manicure. I sat for a few minutes to give my nails time to dry. Called an Uber for my next appointment and contemplated if I should even tip this staff member. All my years I have always tipped. Being in the customer service industry for years, I know how important tips are and what they mean to us. I prefer to tip in cash. However, this experience and the awful feelings it created within me, did not deserve more than the cost of a regular manicure. No ma'm. Nah. As my Uber was approaching, I slipped on my sandals, pulled out cash to tip the individual for my pedicure. I was not going to forget her and her quality of service. This is my second awful experience at this nail salon. What they do not know is I was coming here for some time years ago when they first opened. It's walking distance from my home. Would get my eyebrows done, nails, massage chairs were pleasant. Place was always packed. Until one time, a staff member working on my toes asked me to complete her online English exam that was due while doing my pedicure. That shook me and I should have reported her to her manager and posted a Yelp review. Now I'm doing both. Also, a tip for those who do gel pedi and gel mani: it ruins nails! I noticed that after the old gel was removed, there's these lines on my nails as if nails are breaking. Should have taken photos to share on this post. There's one uploaded and I circled the area of concern. Be careful. Nail salons aren't going to tell us the truth.

Before nail sharp I've been struggling to find a consistent spot I loved and have been getting gel manis redone a little over two weeks but here it lasts me for a month! I'm pretty sure it can last longer if I prolong it (but then my nails will get long and gross). I first started with Ahra and she was GREAT but then she had to move to another state. And I got a little skeptical but then I gave Sunny a try and she is AMAZING! She's so in-depth and detailed and puts her time in the designs she does (plus the cuticle clean up she does is so soothing!). And when sunny is not available, there's the expert Elisha and she's a PRO in everything. She literally does everything - I don't know how she does it, from nails to eyelash extension and to Pilates and flying yoga (and I think she bakes bread for dieting as well). Shes been doing nails for over 15 years so she def knows what she's doing. I've had the chance to get nails done from her, and of course exceeded my expectations! I def recommend giving this spot a chance. Sunny or Elisha - they'll take care of you. They do tend to get a little busy after 5-6pm during weekdays so def call ahead if you work office hours!

I just got a simple French gel manicure but within a few days, two of my nails broke. I called to see if they could help fix them but the manager got super defensive and blamed me for not getting acrylics. She even snapped at me and asked, "Well, what do you want from us?" in a really rude tone. I went in the next day, hoping things would go better but I was greeted with the same attitude from both the manager and another employee. The nail tech looked at my nails and started lecturing me about why I shouldn't have gotten gel, in a really condescending way. I brushed it off and agreed to the extra charge they mentioned. While fixing my nails, the manager put an extension on one and started filing the other one that was still breaking. I calmly asked, "Should we just cut this nail?" and out of nowhere, she started yelling at me and literally spitting while she spoke. She was shouting something like "NO, I'M GOING TO--" and basically forced her own plan without letting me finish. At that point, I was so overwhelmed and emotional I honestly almost cried. I've never felt that disrespected at a business before. The nails didn't even turn out that great but I was too scared and uncomfortable to say anything, so I just left. Please don't go here. It was truly a horrifying experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

This has happened to me about 5 times already. I don't always have 2+ hours to spend and it's really inconvenient to have to wait for someone to service my nails when I'm on a time crunch. If I could give zero stars, I would. Genuinely the WORST nail salon experience I have ever had…read more I should have walked out the second I entered. The salon appeared incredibly unsanitary, I was literally swatting bugs away throughout my appointment, and the technician wore no gloves or mask. I came in for a simple acrylic fill. Instead, she repeatedly nicked me with the nail drill and then proceeded to use actual KRAZY GLUE instead of professional nail glue on my already extremely thin, sensitive nails. My finger began BURNING, and I was so uncomfortable that I asked her to remove the acrylics entirely. Rather than showing concern, she made dismissive comments and ridiculed my reaction. The final paint job was ATROCIOUS. Streaky, uneven, lumpy polish, messy cuticles, and visible brush marks. It genuinely looks like a child painted my nails. The photos speak for themselves. To top it all off, after causing me pain and delivering this horrendous manicure, she had the audacity to tell me I needed to "be nicer" and remind me that customers normally tip. Absolutely unbelievable. ADDITIONALLY, my nails are completely ruined now as I went home and took off the polish (photo attached) Would love it if someone from wilshire nails could reach out to me to discuss this situation.
