I will say I have previously waxed in another place and it was the most unpleasant experience I ever had, the esthetician was so rough on my skin and didn't even take the time to ask if I was okay. Terrible experience and lack of accountability from owner after she privately messaged me to give me a refund and get a free wax. Responding to my experience and said hard wax isn't as good as soft wax is false when I've used hard wax for years and have never used soft wax except this one horrible time that I was rushed and literally left patchy. Imagine you in pain as a curly haired girlie and then a coworker coming in mid service and telling your wax girlie to hurry so they can go to lunch. The owner couldn't possibly take accountability because maybe I didn't respond to her refund or free wax offer? Not sure. Either way. I was so hurt down there from the repetitive ripping of the same spot I was not interested at all. Shocked at the distasteful and unprofessional response and I wouldn't recommend this wax studio. I highly recommend Stark Studio in Silverlake, that's rated the best wax studio in LA and it is painless. The hard wax pulls hair only and not your skin at all. I've been coming to Wax Candy for quite a few years now (at least 6, I think). I've tried several other waxing salons around and this is by far my favorite. For one thing, the prices are the best I've found in the LA area. Waxing is not a cheap service in general (for good reason) but these are the lowest prices I've found for the quality of service being offered, which is as good if not better than what you'd find at any fancy, "high-end" spa. The waxers here are thorough, clean/hygienic, and skilled. I never have much pain at all, if any, when I get waxed here (I will admit, I have a high pain tolerance but still). My hair is very light/blonde and quite fine so it can be easy to miss spots since it's hard to tell just going visually. However, the waxers here always take care of me. I usually request Sanju; she always does an excellent job; she's really meticulous and SO sweet. But I've had just about everyone here at least once, I think, and never had a bad experience; everyone is incredibly nice, professional, and thorough. Once, I had an issue with a lot of hair being left behind but they were very apologetic and immediately made it right with a free touch-up appointment. That was one time in over 6 years though, so I'm very happy with that track record. I go to the DTLA location, which is convenient for me since I live in Silver Lake. I know parking can be a pain (because...DTLA) but I don't have a car so that doesn't bother me, personally haha. Just something to keep in mind. It's very easily accessible by public transport, however, which IS something I pay attention to and appreciate. I find the atmosphere to be really comfortable and chill. The inside of the salon has a slightly industrial vibe (with exposed ceiling beams, etc.) but is very clean with super cute art - and free candy! Can't beat free candy. The music is such a fun mix of Top 40 hits and 80s/90s/00s throwbacks. The struggle is real sometimes to not sing along lol. If you're looking for an affordable and comfortable waxing experience, with friendly and professional staff, this is the spot! read more

He said they did such a good job on his gf. How could i not trust a guy recommending a wax place after Hes seen their work on his gf. Anyways i made my appointment immediately after. The regret is so real and painful. I hadn't waxed in 2 months. I moved and life got crazy right. Hence me looking for a new wax place. I didnt know any of the workers so on my reservation i chose the option for anyone to wax me. I got there and it looked clean. A little warm. I didn't feel any AC but they had a fan in the room. Walls have a huge gap from the high ceilings,so you can hear your neighbors full conversation. I was attended by Sanju. She did make me feel comfortable. We talked and laughed. Doesn't have a heavy hand. She told me she's been waxing for 4 years. With in 15 minutes i was done. She never gave me a mirror to look. Usually at other locations I'm handed a mirror to inspect and see if I'm satisfied. Well i trusted her and left. When i got home i kept feeling itchy. When i walked too, like poking. Sooo i went to go grab a mirror. BROKEN HAIRS everywhere. Stubbly. Omg I couldn't believe it. I took pictures and DM'ed the business. The next day they immediately contacted me and apologized. They handled the situation like true professionals. I appreciate the manager calling me and giving me a refund. They offered a clean up job that day. After work i went for the clean up. Was attended by Issa. Issa inspected the job and did see all the hairs. I thought she would do clean up strips but she said the hairs weren't long enough to wax. She said all she could do is pluck them out! OMG that Shi* hurt so bad. Right by my Cli* jesus christ!!! She took out as much as she was able to. She said the rest were too small for the tweezers. I had a lot left over. She told me to come back in 3-4 so they can wax me again. In the meantime i was going to be stubbly. That whole day i was so irritated and swollen. The next day too. I couldn't take it. I wanted to cry. When i walked I could still feel the hairs poking me. I had to put on cream for the irritation. Diaper cream at that. I didnt know what else would work. So painful. Bumps from where i was plucked. Red AF. Day after when i felt just a tad bit better. I grabbed some wax at home and tried it myself. Well well. The wax DID grab the hairs. I wish they just would've done a clean up strips. At least try it. Thanks but NO THANK YOU. I personally will not be returning. I've never experienced irritation and pain on my Vag like that and i never want to again. *Response to the rude owner* Freshly waxed yet have new growth?? Make it make sense. You should be like the DTLA manager that called me. She was sweet and understanding. We had such a good conversation and here you go ruining that. Never once did i walk in there and give any attitude or anything to Issa,Sanju nor the manager that greeted me. I understood that mistakes happen and as-long as it's corrected. It wasn't, i was left in excruciating irritating pain. No sympathy/empathy from the owner. Instead she gives condescending replies. Regardless of who's recommending YOUR BUSINESS, whether its "random men" or not (in this case it was a close friend) you should take it as a compliment. They liked the work your workers did on their GF. Isnt that the point of referrals? You're horrible. Do better. You're the OWNER! Attached is proof i DM'ed. the so called graphic pictures too. I've been a loyal customer for years and have always known that they offer a 10 min grace period. That 10 min grace period has saved me a couple of times, especially because it can be hard finding parking at this location. Today was one of those days that I needed that 10 min grace period as I got stuck figuring out the parking meter. However, at 10:36 they called me saying my appt was cancelled because I only had a 5 min grace period. I told the girl on the phone that even on my reminder text message I got this morning it says 10 min grace period and she stated that Issa only gives 5 min grace period. Just went to this location for the first after seeing it on my walks over the years while I was living in DTLA, I finally decided to give them a try since my esthetician that I was going to for the past 12 years is no longer doing business in DTLA anymore. I made an appointment for 1:30 pm for a Brazilian wax and left my office at 1:15 and got there just in time, it's my understanding they give you 10 minute grace period. I got to the front and the door had a sign to wear a mask, so I put my mask on and rang the bell to get let in. I was greeted by the receptionist and asked for my name. I advised her of my name and she sent me a waiver to sign since it was my first time there. I was introduced to Rinda and was told that she will be the one doing my wax today. She led me to her area and asked if this was my first time getting waxed and told her no just first time at this location. She gave me my privacy while I undressed from the bottom down and then knocked asking if I was ready. Rinda was great and super fast and made it really painless and we had a great conversation while I was there. My go-to place for all my waxing needs and I've been coming here for 5+ years. Wax Candy's staff are ALL consistently skilled and friendly. You won't go wrong with any random waxer here. I won't say it's always pain-free, but it all depends on your time of the month, so I won't comment about that. I've usually had no issues with pain, if anything, the staff here make you feel super comfortable, so just calm down and let them do the work. I don't think I've spent more than 10, maybe 15 minutes with my appointments. Street parking can be tough, so may the parking fairy be in your favor next time you're here. read more
