Very disappointing customer service…read more I had a very negative experience with Eric Vitale from Total Comfort. During his visit to our home, he was rude to my wife and unwilling to discuss the boiler installation with her. When I subsequently called to discuss pricing, I explained that we had received a quote for $9,500, including a $5,500 unit and $4,000 for installation, and asked whether he could offer a more competitive price. Rather than having a professional discussion, he rudely told me, "We can end this conversation right now," and hung up on me. Customers have choices, and professionalism and respectful communication matter just as much as price. Based on this experience, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

They are reliable, responsive, and always there when you need them. A special thank you to Billy Farrell, who recently came out to repair the air conditioning system at my office. The personality, respect, and dedication that Tim and his team bring to their work speak volumes about why their company is so successful. This is exactly the experience we had when Joe from Spina Electric came over recently. For decades we have looked for the best people to work on our home, and I'm happy to say as far as an electrician, we've now found the perfect one. For several summers our central air conditioner system did not function, the main problem seemed to be it not turning on. During his visit, Joe solved our A/C troubles, inspecting our electric panel and then the fuse panels for each A/C unit, finding out that the problem was a blown fuse. Upon inspecting the issue further, he found the connectors to the blower were loose, and he repaired that as well. He made a label for each A/C condenser in our electric panel and moved on to our second issue. During the heavy March snowstorm a fallen tree took out one of our pier lights, so it had remained on its side since then. We knew we needed an electrician for it, so we showed Joe after he was done with the A/C units. He was able to correct and repair the wiring and also mount the lamp back onto the base, something that was tricky since it had stood for decades and it falling over had changed the holes in the brick and mortar where it was mounted. He fixed it and within his single visit two important things were accomplished. I noticed that on two occasions he could've done the bare minimum necessary, but he actually went further to make it perfect. I remarked that he worked diligently and closely, as if he were working on his own house. He said that's the way he does things. It's a pretty rare thing to find nowadays, so suffice to say we are happy we came across Joe and Spina Electric. He was efficient, accurate in his assessment, and we are currently preparing a list of things for him to look at and take care of during his future visits. For many years we have let things stay out of order, almost resigned to the fact that it wouldn't get fixed because of how difficult it was to find honest, experienced, and reputable electricians. Thankfully we don't have that feeling anymore. Joe's prices are fair, as are his prices for the materials he supplied during his visit. Joe is both handy and current with new things people are installing inside and outside of their homes, so we are forward to updating/fixing our home. Experience, knowledge, trustworthiness, quality work, great prices, and patience. Probably the six words we would use to describe Joe, and the qualities one would want in an electrician. 100% recommended.

I have been recommending this company for years. Brian O'Neill is been in business for a long time…read moreand that means a lot. You have to be good at what you do to achieve longevity. As a real estate agent, I work with contractors all the time and recommend them to my buyers and sellers. I've never had one complaint in I'd say, close to 20 years. Last week was yet another example. A homeowner called me up for help. Her mom passed away and she was clearing out the house to get it ready for the market. It was a hot day and the central air suddenly quit. She's not local and didn't know who else to call because other contractors she'd been told to call were either unresponsive or seemed to be not all that forthright. The company who had been servicing the house forever seemed to be the worst - took a quick look and told her the entire unit needed to be replaced with a staggering bid amount. Of all the contractors who came, Brian was the only one who told her that she did not have to replace the entire unit. All she needed was 1 part. The cost difference on this? Tremendous. Please note that when she called Brian, she'd told him that an estimate for replacement was needed. While my client was surprised, I wasn't. I've heard stories like this about O'Neill Contractors before. My experience with them is that they do excellent work and are highly ethical. It's no wonder they've been in business for a long time.

Brett is our HERO!…read more We lost heat in our apartment on the coldest night of the year, just a couple days before New Year's. Real-feel temperatures were in the single digits and negative degrees, so lots of people had frozen pipes and plumbers were nowhere to be found -- backlogged for days. I was dialing every place I could find on Yelp. I was jerked around bad by the bigger guys. Finally, I gave this place a call around 8:30pm on that very desperate Friday night and my call was forwarded directly to Brett's cell phone; he's the CEO. He was out on another job at the time. I described the problem, and Brett suggested we FaceTime so he could see our boiler and try a couple of very basic things with me on the phone to try to get things back up and running. (We're a ways outside his usual service area, and it was a busy night -- so he didn't think he'd be able to get out here. But he wanted to see if he could help.) When I couldn't get it going over the phone, he said "I'm coming out there tonight. We're gonna get your heat back on." Around 9:30pm on that bitterly cold Friday night, Brett showed up with his gear and didn't leave until the job was done after midnight! He was determined to get our heat back on. And he did! Oh, and then he went to another job after he left us at midnight! He's the owner of the business. It was now Saturday morning. But he had folks in need and didn't want to leave them hanging. We can't say enough about Brett. We're so thankful to him and would give this place 100 stars if it was possible. There should be more people and businesses that care about others the way Brett cared about us that night. Please, please support this small business! We are SO happy we did.

This is an unfortunate update following my 5-star review a few years back. I tried to really like…read moreParamus Plumbing and root for them, but after the latest incident, I really have to speak up because what I'm about to describe has happened repeatedly before. I was trying to get a service call out on the AC they installed in 2016, and 5 days later and 3 leaving messages later, they have not had a technician contact me. What is the point of being in a Service industry if your first line of service - communication - is so atrocious? I remember when Brett told me that it's hard to get back to customers in time because he had no receptionist back then and I had given you every benefit of the doubt. Now with an 800 number, multiple technicians, and a receptionist(s), what is the excuse now? And what is the point of receptionist if all they do is to tell me that "they left a message with the technicians, there's nothing more they can do"? I called last Saturday and spoke to a young lady who told me (when I asked her to look up my information) that she "has no access to any information (due to working from a different location a la COVID-19) and that all she can do is to leave a message with one of the technicians" Okay, understandable as long as someone calls back, I thought. Then on Monday an older lady did call back saying they got someone nearby and are trying to work something out so I happily told her to have the guy call me first so I can arrange with the tenant. No calls. I called again on Tuesday and Briana picked up (I think the same lady from Saturday) and I told her my frustration. She just said she can leave a message with them again. There was no apology, no 'Oh I see you called last week, we'll make sure to get back to you this time', no follow up, nothing. And of course, I didn't hear a squeak back from them. So now it's Thursday and I feel foolish for having tried to give Paramus Plumbing a chance to repair their own job. I understand it's AC season and everyone might be busy running around. But what is the point of voicemails and receptionists if you simply cannot be reached or even bother calling back if you're too busy? If they're busy with "big commercial jobs" like Brett told me about back then, then perhaps switch strategy and exit the residential business altogether. If they're still in it, they need to do better and call customers back whether they can or can't do the job. It's basic decency they can afford their customers. They do a good job though not without errors, but be prepared for atrocious communication if you choose Paramus plumbing & mechanical. I went with someone else who was so much more responsive and guess I'll see how good Brett's work was.

Removing the old furnace was a task in itself as it easily weighed OVER 500 lbs and had to be broken up in two pieces to get out of our basement!
