We drove 6hrs to go hike the Serpent Mound effigy and see the burial mounds. It's a must see!…read more While there we met the nicest lady on the trail that told us so many fascinating things about the area and park. We asked her questions about places to buy local rocks, arrowheads, books...other than the gift shop. She told us we could go check out her shop and collection if we'd like. We're so happy we did! We got to meet her other half who is a literal living breathing encyclopedia of fossils, stones, gems, local history, local lure... His fossil collection was in the Smithsonian. AMAZING welcoming owners and place. We bought his book and got it autographed by him. We also bought souvenirs, rocks, post cards... very reasonably priced. We highly recommend visiting them after tge Serpent Mound.

This little rock shop and trilobite gallery is every bit as untidy and confounding as it is…read moreauthentic and charming. The shop itself features fossils, minerals, jewelry, and works from local artisans. And its centerpiece is a somewhat dilapidated but impressive display of trilobites that once was housed at the Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian. What explains this oddity? It seems to be the life work of Thomas Johnson, a local aficionado whose obsessive search for fossils keeps him preoccupied in this small corner of Ohio. When we visited, Johnson's shirt was still dusty from a morning dig. I asked him if the trilobite collection was the result of his own efforts, and he made it clear that it's "in progress". He showed us a piece of trilobite he'd found in the rock that very morning. Nobody's gonna mistake this place for the Smithsonian. But if you dig a good fossil, you'll see a couple here.

*Stones for they can hold hidden secrets and wisdom*…read more Let me tell you a secret! The owner of this place knows about stones and rocks. Unlock the usefulness of knowledge by walking in. This shop is on an avenue where people know how to act and live together. They truly have love here ! Barret Ave, come and see! Shop local! The prices of their goods. They are real. Not made in China. It's rocks and stones that are actually the product you need and want. Wow! Then did I mention, the owner cares, is attentive, loving, caring, and this opinion is based on being the store. Customer after customer, neighbor and friend come in this shop to see what's going on this day. So it's a small town, "Main Street!" Love and respect exist here and we felt as we were family just by walking in the door. Please support local communities! Come check this area out!

This is a true stone shop, full of natural and tumbled rocks and crystals. They know their craft and are willing to answer questions, getting you just as excited. While I'm always drawn to stones and their stories, I've never seen my husband as intrigued, which I think was caused by the raw stones. Some items are priced as a flat total, others by size or weight. Some only a few dollars and others much more. Something for all budgets.
