We told _______ we are paying the down payment today. We went in her office to discuss our options. We were told that Fairwinds has staff that comes in residents apartments to help with everything I just listed above. Man we were happy ! As we didn't know how mom would have handled the move. We were so relieved we didn't have to find out. All her needs would be met! We were very honest and upfront about mom's condition. We said sure let's do it! Mom can stay in her own apartment that she knows. GREAT! We were so happy and ________ made us feel like this was the right decision. We were told the extra cost and felt it was justified because getting her bathed is a chore and we are not caregivers & really didn't know how to bathe an elderly Alzheimer's mom. Mind you she was only 98 pounds but she was feisty and would speak her mind and fly the bird at you sometimes. In less than 48 hours she was comatose. She wasn't walking, we don't know if it was by choice or she forgot how. This went on till we secured her a spot at Fairwoods; they specialize in Alzheimer's/Dementia care. By the time the "NEW" home came to evaluate her she had lost a considerable amount of weight. We had to get her out of there. She either clashed with _______ or just was stubborn and shut down. Update now... has appetite is back, she gained weight, is actually getting herself down to the recreation room to socialize. We don't know if she thinks she's out on the town or what! But a very happy mom now!

Fairview is a special place. I had my aunt in another Spokane assisted living facility, but it was…read morepurchased by a large corporate entity which decided to drop the Medicaid option for residents. My aunt was running out of assets so I needed to find another place while I could still provide some period of private pay before conversion to Medicaid. This was not an easy task. Quite by accident I found out about Fairview and their willingness to take on residents with minimal private pay and they welcomed my aunt with open arms and full cooperation in helping move her into their facility while I was managing all this from a great distance away. They went out of their way to go pick her up before the movers came and kept her comfortable and engaged during the move. The room was twice as large as her previous location's room and she was guaranteed to remain in that room when converted to Medicaid. Both my aunt and I found the staff to be excellent in caring for her and communicating with me. My aunt thought the room was very nice (not that mattered to her), the food good and the staff friendly and caring. They made everything seamless in her care and easily accommodated some of her mental quirks and actions that I think many places would not have tolerated or would have increased her 'care' costs. They did not. When end of life approached, they kept in close contact with me and helped navigate the transition to hospice during a time when all three hospice organizations in Spokane were overwhelmed and couldn't take on new patients in the time frame we thought necessary but Fairview and the Nurse Practitioner responded in ways that warmly and professionally tided her over until hospice could respond. I have no reservations and strongly recommend Fairview as an assisted living place for your loved ones.

The staff is not trained well and will humiliate and make fun of your loved one in vulnerable situations. They have a high rate of "discharges" due to STAFF driven behaviors. They will promise you memory care, or a skilled nursing facility when you loved one needs it and then when you money runs out, you get a discharge notice for whatever reason they deem appropriate. It's a total bait-and-switch. Put simply, the CEO is not a nice person. It's hardly a non-profit. I have experienced 3 1/2 painful years managing my parents while they were there. They then progressed into Assisted Living. In early 2025 my mom was in Skilled Nursing where she eventually passed away. While she was there she had an incident where she rolled out of the bed onto the floor and nobody noticed! It was only when my brother came to visit, he found her! And they wouldn't put rails on the bed to prevent it in the future. In the summer of 2025 they abruptly shut their skilled nursing section, while people were living there! ( That area wasn't profitable enough ). With only a 60 day notice to find other living arrangements! Then earlier this year they sent an email to my brother and myself stating that my 87.5 year old father's needs were too great for them and they were asking him to leave! After his spouse of 64 years has passed away and he is a Type 1 diabetic. WOW! So we moved him over to Rockwood Retirement. They have been LOVELY and professional. Go there! Touchmark's approach is about the bottom line and "no I don't think we can do that". While Rockwood has a caring atmosphere where the staff's approach is personal to the resident and the family and "how can we make your dad feel at home and cared for". Rockwood also has a a minutes response time to emails or vm's while Touchmark has days or no response. I think the choice is clear!

Kaylie brought joy & comfort to Denny, bringing her guitar & allowing him to sing & feel a part of himself he had lost a long time ago. Cody provided a man to converse with about old times & life memories. Sandy, brought the HUGEST heart & comfort in a vulnerable time (Night shift) & could be trusted to care for his safety & ultimately hold him in her arms & protect him from falling in his last breaths. She provided protection for my Mom's heart in the most difficult hours & gave all that she had to ensure Denny had any comfort he needed that she could provide.
