We talked to management to let them know we found another place for her to live that takes care of her specific "Alzheimer Needs", such as meals, bathing and medication assistance doctors appts. & anything else she needs. We told _______ we are paying the down payment today. We went in her office to discuss our options. We were told that Fairwinds has staff that comes in residents apartments to help with everything I just listed above. Man we were happy ! As we didn't know how mom would have handled the move. We were so relieved we didn't have to find out. All her needs would be met! We were very honest and upfront about mom's condition. We said sure let's do it! Mom can stay in her own apartment that she knows. GREAT! We were so happy and ________ made us feel like this was the right decision. We were told the extra cost and felt it was justified because getting her bathed is a chore and we are not caregivers & really didn't know how to bathe an elderly Alzheimer's mom. Mind you she was only 98 pounds but she was feisty and would speak her mind and fly the bird at you sometimes. In less than 48 hours she was comatose. She wasn't walking, we don't know if it was by choice or she forgot how. This went on till we secured her a spot at Fairwoods; they specialize in Alzheimer's/Dementia care. By the time the "NEW" home came to evaluate her she had lost a considerable amount of weight. We had to get her out of there. She either clashed with _______ or just was stubborn and shut down. Update now... has appetite is back, she gained weight, is actually getting herself down to the recreation room to socialize. We don't know if she thinks she's out on the town or what! But a very happy mom now!

Is this what Moran Vista considers good nutrition for their residents? A few questions for the…read morenutrition director, who not only approved this slop, but also for the employees who served it to the residents: Would you feel good about serving "food" like this to your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles? Have you built up an immunity to compassion for those who can not fully care for themselves? Or are you just doing the minimum that your position requires, in order to get your paycheck? The residents are paying this facility for better than average care and at times, Moran Vista has served decent food. However, as of late, the meals at MV have become cheap, an eyesore and what I would consider, inedible. Anyone who has ever worked, or been around seniors, should know that many times, their taste buds aren't what they once were. Their appetite usually decreases as well and it's necessary to offer them food that has a pleasing appearance and a yummy smell, (if they can still detect odors). If an elderly loved one lived with your family, would you plop this in front of them and expect them to eat it up, as if they hadn't eaten in a month? To the administration of Moran Vista: This is saddening and frustrating for not only the residents in your facility, but also for the families who trust MV to care for and feed their loved ones. I worked in different areas of food service for many years and no matter what foods I had to work with, I always did my best to make it look and taste edible. Take some pride Moran Vista, not only in the care given to your residents, but in the food you serve to them. There isn't an excuse good enough to justify serving "a meal" that makes me want to grab the Pepto Bismol, before even taking a bite

My parents decided to…read morerelocate here in 2019 based on the continuation of care and the caring staff. My parents moved into Independent Living in the main building. They then progressed into Assisted Living. In early 2025 my mom was in Skilled Nursing where she eventually passed away. While she was there she had an incident where she rolled out of the bed onto the floor and nobody noticed! It was only when my brother came to visit, he found her! And they wouldn't put rails on the bed to prevent it in the future. In the summer of 2025 they abruptly shut their skilled nursing section, while people were living there! ( That area wasn't profitable enough ). With only a 60 day notice to find other living arrangements! Then earlier this year they sent an email to my brother and myself stating that my 87.5 year old father's needs were too great for them and they were asking him to leave! After his spouse of 64 years has passed away and he is a Type 1 diabetic. WOW! So we moved him over to Rockwood Retirement. They have been LOVELY and professional. Go there! Touchmark's approach is about the bottom line and "no I don't think we can do that". While Rockwood has a caring atmosphere where the staff's approach is personal to the resident and the family and "how can we make your dad feel at home and cared for". Rockwood also has a a minutes response time to emails or vm's while Touchmark has days or no response. I think the choice is clear!

From the very beginning, their caregivers were compassionate, dependable, and respectful of his dignity. Every person who came into his home treated him with such kindness and professionalism, and it gave our whole family peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. When it became clear that it was time for him to move to assisted living, we had no idea where to start -- but Donna guided us through the process with so much care and expertise. She listened to our concerns, asked thoughtful questions about his personality and needs, and helped us find the perfect fit. Her placement services were truly invaluable. As my dad neared the end of his life, Donna and the Angel team didn't just step back -- they stepped in even closer. Their support during those final weeks was compassionate and unwavering. They helped our family navigate a deeply emotional time with grace and warmth, making sure Dad felt comforted and cared for every step of the way. They don't update anything in the apartments they charge an arm and leg for, they shift appliances around from apartment to apartment and attempt to repair mostly to know avail. My carpet was filthy from prior tenant (had a massive dog), I'd walk around in my white socks and they'd turn black! No upkeep with the foliage outside, the lavender bushes are so overgrown and look half dead. I would try and help to keep the rose bushes trimmed but one of many bullies told me I didn't know what I was doing? I was bullied by several old woman and a couple of old men for no apparent reason and management did NOTHING. But one of their favorite tenants told a lie about me and they jumped all over me for it with no proof, illegally forcing me out. I did a lot for the community my two years there, art classes twice a month, movies with treats every Saturday night and it seemed the more I did too try and bring joy to the community the worse it got for me. Management especially Ann could see this but looked the other way and when the monster Michelle came she made it worse for me attacking me verbally and not hearing my point of view and the one to illegally force me out. Although I was happy to leave this nut house, people were awful and also took me for granted. I helped a lot of people but jealousy is a complex emotion of insecurity that took over "a lot" of these people.
