We talked to management to let them know we found another place for her to live that takes care of her specific "Alzheimer Needs", such as meals, bathing and medication assistance doctors appts. & anything else she needs. We told _______ we are paying the down payment today. We went in her office to discuss our options. We were told that Fairwinds has staff that comes in residents apartments to help with everything I just listed above. Man we were happy ! As we didn't know how mom would have handled the move. We were so relieved we didn't have to find out. All her needs would be met! We were very honest and upfront about mom's condition. We said sure let's do it! Mom can stay in her own apartment that she knows. GREAT! We were so happy and ________ made us feel like this was the right decision. We were told the extra cost and felt it was justified because getting her bathed is a chore and we are not caregivers & really didn't know how to bathe an elderly Alzheimer's mom. Mind you she was only 98 pounds but she was feisty and would speak her mind and fly the bird at you sometimes. In less than 48 hours she was comatose. She wasn't walking, we don't know if it was by choice or she forgot how. This went on till we secured her a spot at Fairwoods; they specialize in Alzheimer's/Dementia care. By the time the "NEW" home came to evaluate her she had lost a considerable amount of weight. We had to get her out of there. She either clashed with _______ or just was stubborn and shut down. Update now... has appetite is back, she gained weight, is actually getting herself down to the recreation room to socialize. We don't know if she thinks she's out on the town or what! But a very happy mom now!

Filthy, disgusting community, none working appliances in community kitchen(s) which were also…read morealways very dirty, carpets throughout filthy with urine and feces/pets among food and drink spillage, residents urinating on sofa in library and movie theater seats, movie theater equipment always broken as well as Internet cafe computers, printer and TV, garbage rooms are disgusting and you can smell them from down the hallway because they aren't cleaned, pool is gross with green algae and paint peeling, pool bathrooms the same, there haven't been any updates to this building since opening in 2012. They don't update anything in the apartments they charge an arm and leg for, they shift appliances around from apartment to apartment and attempt to repair mostly to know avail. My carpet was filthy from prior tenant (had a massive dog), I'd walk around in my white socks and they'd turn black! No upkeep with the foliage outside, the lavender bushes are so overgrown and look half dead. I would try and help to keep the rose bushes trimmed but one of many bullies told me I didn't know what I was doing? I was bullied by several old woman and a couple of old men for no apparent reason and management did NOTHING. But one of their favorite tenants told a lie about me and they jumped all over me for it with no proof, illegally forcing me out. I did a lot for the community my two years there, art classes twice a month, movies with treats every Saturday night and it seemed the more I did too try and bring joy to the community the worse it got for me. Management especially Ann could see this but looked the other way and when the monster Michelle came she made it worse for me attacking me verbally and not hearing my point of view and the one to illegally force me out. Although I was happy to leave this nut house, people were awful and also took me for granted. I helped a lot of people but jealousy is a complex emotion of insecurity that took over "a lot" of these people. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.i could write a novel of things that have gone on at Affinity, corporate didn't care either. Pictures speak volumes.

I have found that working at Harvard Park that the Residents who chose to live there are very…read morehappy. They are as busy as they want to be. They enjoy not haveing to gorcery shop and yet have 3 great meals a day, also the dishes get done by someone else. Light housekeeping allows them to be free to do things they want to. Having a security button they can push and get help anytime of day or night has a great sense of safety. Activities are great fun in and out of the community. So if you are 55 and above it is worth a look. And look into the great travel plan.

Good RNs are working there, but they are understaffed and undersupported. The staff are often temporary hires who fill on an occasional basis so there is little consistency. There is a lack of supervision and care. Further, the prescription provider used by Rockwood, Omnicare is awful. Look up "Omnicare Scam" or "Omnicare Reviews" to see the multiple federal cases against this subsidiary of CVS. We paid over $1,000 for unneeded prescriptions due to the relationship between Rockwood and Omnicare. Neither would take responsibility.

My aunt and uncle have been living at Evergreen Fountains for the better part of 7 years and both…read morewe and they have been generally quite pleased. This is a nice facility, well maintained, with many excellent staff and friendly residents. I would easily rate it five stars except for one thing. Evergreen markets itself as a place where people can transition from independent living toward more assistance as needed. Unfortunately, they only offer any type of assistance if you are in the main building, so if you live in other parts of the facility and need temporary or only occasional assistance you can't get that from Evergreen. In addition, Evergreen won't allow you to move from other parts of the facility into the main building unless you immediately sign up for light assisted living. So unless you are lucky enough to have an appropriate apartment become available exactly when you start to need some full time assistance (apartments in the main building are often not available without a substantial wait) you may need to either start paying for assistance before you need it or move to another facility when you do need the help. For many people there is a good chance the transition from independent living to some assistance may not be nearly as easy as Evergreen would have you believe. Not cool.

The residents are very friendly when you first move in, I did not have to feel uncomfortable about where I was going to sit for dinner. I had several people ask me to sit at their table. The staff, oh my. They are fantastic! When I moved in, I had a gift basket sitting on my counter waiting for me with a sweet welcoming card. They had a Welcome sign on my door. They checked on me several times the first few days to see if there was anything I needed. They are so friendly and sincere. I have never lived at a Senior living community that was so sincere and caring as this staff. The Executive Director, Wendi is so nice, helpful and so caring about everyone. She always is smiling and when she talks to you, you feel like you are the only one in the room. She looks you in the eyes and truly cares. The Chef, Nathan is also very friendly and so wonderful! He goes out of his way to make sure everyone has what they need. He is out in the dining room with the dining staff making sure everyone is ok. The maintenance man, Justin gets everything done so quickly and is always smiling and whistling! The floor plans are humungous and the price is cheaper than all the other places I have looked at.
