Jim Stone's did a very good job with my recent radiator replacement. My 1998 Jeep needs the old coolant--the "green stuff"--because the metals used in the engine construction do not interact well with the new, universal coolants. I totally forgot to mention this to Denny when I dropped off the Jeep, but when I called him mid-repair to mention it, he responded, "Yep. We've run into that before, and we were aware of it. We're using the older formula coolant for this engine." He didn't try to upsell me a number of unnecessary services, and he was happy to talk to me about the two things his mechanic had noticed without pushing me to order additional work. I hope my car doesn't ever break again, but I know it probably will, and Denny's picked up another loyal customer.

The transmission failed shortly after they rebuilt it. They reluctantly "repaired" it under warranty but after getting truck back it didn't shift properly. Brought it back again and they said they couldn't figure it out. And that I should take it to a Chevy dealer? After taking to Chevy dealer they diagnosed that Freds had repaired with an incorrect part. I paid the Chevy dealer for the diagnostic work. Freds made a huge deal at that point about reimbursement of the $75. Then the transmission fails again one month out of warranty. Had the transmission re-rebuilt again by another shop @ that point and it lasted 10 plus years.
