Outstanding pizza, great food and great service! This is a really terrific place for food in the Barossa Valley. We liked it so much that we had dinner here for 2 out of the 3 nights that we stayed in the Valley. The menu is extensive with something to suit everyone. The food is delicious. We loved the award winning Smokey pizza with just the right amount of good quality toppings and a super thin crust. The salt & pepper squid and the burgers are delicious, and the risotto is very good! The staff are friendly and helpful, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable! read more

Just took my elderly Parents there who are over from WA.For a dine in meal, normally it's a favourite goto place when my wife and I caravan in the Barrossa when up from Adelaide. As far as takeaway goes for vegetarians this place is a 10 /10. Price points fab, ambiance is fantastic. However step over into the dining in the diner section and it's a 2/10 for vegetarians as apart from pizza or sides. There are no options, we tried to have takeaway vegetarian burgers or vegetarian lasagne from takeaway in the dinner. The on duty junior manager firmly / semi rudely stated " it's always been that you can't have takeaway orders in the dinning area" ????. So if your prefer dine in vegetarian I'd suggest go else where. That said I commend the wait staff particularly our Canadian and English waitresses who went above and beyond.(12 / 10). Award Winning Pizzas, Well the awards were from 2009. I tried the Smokey on Thin 9" pizza, a tasty mix of Barossa Smallgoods and feta. It was very tasty for sure.... It was Good for sure.. not sure if it is amazing The place itself is a little dated and there's no table service if you eat in. Travelling around the Barossa Valley and time was getting away from us. We arrived at this little town called Angaston at around 1:30pm with our stomachs wondering when lunch was actually getting served. Dining options were plentiful with inside and alfresco areas, and the staff were fairly friendly. We decided to have garlic bead for entree while the wife had some fritters thing & I had the pumpkin & pinenut pizza. It is unfortunate that we think they ran out of garlic, as it just tasted like herb bread - not a sign of garlic to be seen. But then we get to the pizza. I saw someone eating one of these pizzas when I walked in and thought it looked pretty good. Thankfully my gut was correct. The pizza was absolutely Devine. A must have for anyone that visits here. read more

Firstly, I'm sorry I cant add a picture, it's not every day I get down to Angaston. Secondly, I wish I got down to Angaston everyday just so I could dine on their pizza. The Roaring 40's Cafe is the winner of the title of best pizza in Australia, and it oh so is. I had my doubts, even when I walked in and the place was packed and everyone had this look of happiness on their faces, I was still skeptical. The Lamb and Kipfler Potato Pizza, this is food for the gods, this isn't your Domino's (thankgod) and Goodlife doesn't measure up either. words cannot express just how mouthwateringly succulent and amazing this pizza really is, so I suggest you get in the car now and take a relaxing drive to the Barossa Valley and suss this out for yourself. While you're on the wine tasting route stop by this cafe for a bite. It's totally worth it. The food was amazing. They have a lot to choose from including some big breakfast items. Also some of the local wines to drink. read more

We came here on the recommendation of a friend who previously lived in the area and while we weren't expecting the casual nature of the restaurant (just a takeaway place with tables off to the side), thats where the lack of excitement ended. We ordered two pizzas, one Smoky Pizza, and one 40's Barossa Deluxe. Seriously, the quality of the produce on both these pizzas was like nothing I have ever experienced. If you come to the Barossa, you MUST eat here. End of story. read more

Ordered pizza from here after a boozy Barossa winery day on local recommendations and previous memories of the pizza. We decided to get the 40's Barossa deluxe, which has chicken, Barossa bacon,olives, avocado, pesto, brie and a variety of herbs. This was listed as one of their award winning pizzas, so we had high hopes. It was ready super-quick, and was hot and crisp when we picked it up. Tasted good and was exactly what we were after. It also tasted pretty good post-microwave the next day! They're good at what they do, which is pizza. I'm not sure what the dine-in experience is like, but for watching the footy, this was great. read more

I have been here twice. Once around 12 months ago and once today. The 5 stars is for the pizza of which our group had 3 different types. Both times the crusts have been thin, crispy, & perfect. The flavour of various toppings are rich, robust, and delicious. The atmosphere is fairly basic and gets only 3 stars in my opinion, but can be forgiven due to the treat your taste buds will be enjoying. read more

I went here on a recommendation a few years ago and have been back a few times since. Its well worth the drive through the country to explore this cute little corner of the world and the perfect end to a Barossa wine tour. Receiving many awards for the best pizza in SA certainly seems well deserved! I recommend to go with friends and share all the fancy pizzas. We took Americans with us the last time and they ordered cheese pizza *eye roll*... So bring friends who appreciate fun flavours ;) The decor could do with with some sprucing but this place is one of those places where that just doesn't matter :) read more

Being a fast-food joint in Barossa Valley foodie heaven can't be easy, but R40s manages, by adding gourmet touches to traditional pizza, burger and fried assortment fast food. The pizzas are what everyone goes for, and they do a good job, with perfect crusts and clever toppings. I have been here probably five times in about 3 years, virtually whenever I get up to the Barossa Valley. Extremely good pizza. They have won awards for good reason and I won't take that away from them. They are STILL good pizzas. However I have noticed that the level of topping seems to be diminishing over time. When I first went we had the smokey pizza and the topping was really quite high. On the latest visit, it was very sparse. Again don't get me wrong .. very nice pizza and worth getting even now, but it lacks that same quantity that is used to have hence only four stars. GO there .. you will not be disappointed taste wise! read more
