    Cute porch set up!

Good stay, all in all. Nothing fancy, but for a good location, a place that has the basics and a little more, this is a good option. Store is handy too, being within walking distance from the first few cabins. If you don't want neighbors on either side, cabin 1 or 10 is a good option. Even 1 or 2 is good, they're a little further off from the rest, and under some shade. The flowerbeds get watered on a timer soaker hose daily, so beware of putting things close to the edge that you weren't planning on getting wet. Some tips- Bring towels, including hand towels. And one for a bath mat. Also, bring kitchen items you'd prefer to cook with- the kitchen has some basics, but some things you may prefer your own stuff. Also, if you are trying to watch some MLB games, the direct tv package in the rooms didn't include the games. I'd bring an hdmi cord and a laptop and try to stream on the wifi to the TV inside. As for parking- you can fit three cars in front, but it's tight. There's additional parking not too far if you have cabins 1-4. Not sure about the other side of cabins. All in all, good stay. A little "lived in" but practical and does what you need for a Concan vacation. Plus it's across from the Concan Pies place- perfect to make a quick trip right when they open.

Recently stayed at Andy's (7/9-7/12 2014) and have to say it was a wonderful experience! Where to start?!? Staff- We were super impressed! Nell is a doll and a joy to speak with..helping us to check in and when we arrived hours early to check in really went the extra mile to make sure our cabin was clean and ready to go..and also pointed us in the direction of a great lunch spot while we waited. The guys and gals who worked in the store and helped with the tubes were also all very knowledgeable and helpful..always with smiles on their faces and very polite..they all seemed to really enjoy their jobs and it showed. Andy himself was also so helpful..you can tell he takes pride in his property and customer service was number one! He actually drove the "Cool" bus that took us to the river and I think at some point I even saw him in his truck stopping along the roadside picking up trash and stray branches..always working. We were impressed. Cabins- We stayed in a cabin and again were more than happy with what we saw! Plenty of space for two families, all the utensils we could need (pots, pans, plates, cups, cooking utensils) a/c worked really well and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the mornings/evenings. Even saw some fireflies..and being from Houston that's a big deal :) I highly recommend Andy's! They have won us over and we hope to make this trip to the Frio an annual one! Thanks to all the staff and Andy for an experience well done!

Awesome shirt I got from Andy's!

Recently came to Concan to float the Frio and decided to rent tubes from Andy's. We had a blast and the staff was super nice! They had an answer for every question we asked! We took advantage of the shuttle and our bus driver was super nice! We absolutely cannot wait to come back next year! We are going to try to rent a cabin with them next time instead of staying in Uvalde! Can't wait!

Always have necessities that we forget at home and the best fountain drinks in Concan! Great cabins when we stayed there in the past.

Joe works a stretch of the Medina river far from the crowded parks in Kerrville, and provides a personalized level of service that I have not previously experienced. Instead of providing a one size fits all float, he wanted each paddler's age and weight to make sure he had the right equipment. Instead of picking an available slot that fit his schedule, he worked around ours. It was perfect. The stretch of river he works is unique. The water level was a bit low so there were a few spots where we had to get out, but it was well worth it to not see another soul the entire trip! Since was no set schedule or deadline to meet, we took our time and enjoyed the day. We enjoyed the nesting hawks in the cypress trees, the river turtles, and swimming with the fish in the crystal clear water. Per Joe's recommendation, we brought goggles to see the fish better. I recommend a snorkel as well! Also per Joe's advice, we brought carrots and visited his friendly and frisky donkeys after our float. The kids loved it! Highly recommended!

Jarrett our shuttle driver was fantastic with lots of Information and stories. Our 2-nights and 3-days on the river were unbelievable. The water, stars, scenery, and quiet were everything and more than we expected. Being first time white-water kayakers we read and watched everything we could over the last 6-months but we were still very inexperienced and thus our reliance on the outfitter. However the equipment was not up to par. All four kayaks had issues and so did all four oars and the spare. Busted tie down netting, missing oar tie downs, duct taped oars, missing or torn rubber grips and keepers on the oars and one chair missing half the top frame which made for a very uncomfortable seat. We ended up duct tapping one life preserver to the seat back to make it bearable. The storage compartment gaskets on the Diablos were torn with chunks missing so water in those two kayaks was a constant issue. We had dry bags but draining these two kayaks to keep them at least partially controllable was a chore. We obviously should have been more observant at the facility but the kayaks and equipment were already loaded on the trailer and when we did point out the seat problem at the drop off spot it was too late for us or Jarrett to do anything about it. We definitely learned our lesson not to trust this outfitter with the equipment they rent. You need to check everything before you leave their shop. I gave them 2-stars because In spite of the equipment issues it is a fantastic experience. Enjoy, but do your inspections!!!

Whenever we're in the Gruene area (which is a lot) and we want to to float, we always use Rockin'…read moreR. This is their main location. They have several in the regional area but my review is for the Gruene location. The staff are really fun and helpful (you know like when you're getting out and fall on your rear and they help you out of the water). Rental rates are fair and the tubes are clean.

I will start by saying, I don't entirely blame the business for what happened during our float, and…read morethey did try to remedy it by giving us free passes to come back - or to use another location. The main takeaways for my post if you don't want to read (TLDR): 1. This location should NOT be advertised as a float - it is seriously very dangerous when the water is low, we all popped our tubes and had small injuries from the rocks - I am glad with my injuries being small - it could have been SOOO much worse 2. Aggressive turtles and water snakes everywhere 3. The entire float route is surrounded by private property so there is literally no way to exit unless you go to the end .. The day started out great - the Gruene location was nice, we did not pay for parking as others have mentioned (not sure why we didn't). The main complaint about the actual location where you sign in and get your tubes are the rest rooms. They were not clean and the water did not work. Also, the entire place was run by children which was very weird to me. There was no one over the age of 20 working the day (Sunday) we went. A kid that looked to be literally 13 was the one to help us into the river and didn't say a word to us- just looked at us and put the tubes in the water (which I understand - I was shy at that age as well). My main concern and the reason why I am posting is that this route (in my opinion) should NOT be used by this company as an advertised float. It was genuinely super dangerous. I have floated multiple times throughout Texas and have not encountered rocks and rapids like this. We got stuck multiple times on the rocks and it took us 3 hours to just get half way to the first exit. After the second set of rocks we were DONE. Our tubes had all popped and several of us had injuries (nothing super serious - bruises and cuts from the rocks - one girl hurt her back pretty badly and had spasms) . We called the company and asked for someone to pick us up (to which another child answered the phone). They offered to bring us new tubes - which they did. The kid that brought us the tubes told us we were two hours from the exit (which apparently was not correct). Because they wouldn't come pick us up and told me we had to tube down to the end where the exit is - we decided the best option was to call the non-emergency number for the Sheriff. She told us to call 911 to get more precise coordinates for our location - which we then did. An ambulance came and the EMT's found us and were able to escort us out of the back of people's homes (we did not want to trespass on these people's properties - also there were giant staircases we were unsure if the one girl with the back injury could even make it up). Everyone was fine, the EMT's dropped us off at the entrance to Rockin R - which we were then greeted by the location's owners. They told us it had been a misunderstanding and they didn't realize someone was injured - which I literally told them over the phone twice. After the confusion subsided, they did give us free passes to come back - which I won't be using. I understand these things happen and we did sign waivers - but the company should not be using this route. Someone will get seriously injured on these rocks one of these days. I guarantee it..
