First..nobody checked ID when we checked in. the cabin we got was missing floor tiles, the smoke…read morealarm beeped all weekend, the sink in one of the bathrooms wouldn't drain. they were going to charge 75$ for linens when the website said they were provided. we called X 2 Friday and nothing. we had to go back to the office Saturday morning and then wait for maintenance to come out and took the battery out of the smoke alarm and put it back on. The board said the cabin hadn't been cleaned since June 9, we were there 27-29. Blonds were busted. Not worth the money by far. The young people working were so nice though.

They even told us if we wanted to float the route twice to just give them a call and they would come get us again. Joe works a stretch of the Medina river far from the crowded parks in Kerrville, and provides a personalized level of service that I have not previously experienced. Instead of providing a one size fits all float, he wanted each paddler's age and weight to make sure he had the right equipment. Instead of picking an available slot that fit his schedule, he worked around ours. It was perfect. The stretch of river he works is unique. The water level was a bit low so there were a few spots where we had to get out, but it was well worth it to not see another soul the entire trip! Since was no set schedule or deadline to meet, we took our time and enjoyed the day. We enjoyed the nesting hawks in the cypress trees, the river turtles, and swimming with the fish in the crystal clear water. Per Joe's recommendation, we brought goggles to see the fish better. I recommend a snorkel as well! Also per Joe's advice, we brought carrots and visited his friendly and frisky donkeys after our float. The kids loved it! Highly recommended!

Our interactions with Outlaw River Rentals were indeed very smooth from drop off to pick up, everyone was friendly and professional, plus there was very helpful guidance about river conditions. This was the experience we had hoped for last year. No fault of ORR, the area is in the midst of a drought which meant drop off and pick up were from the boat ramp under the highway, because there is little current in the river. Upstream is nicer scenery but does require carrying the boat over a weir (small dam), while downstream the scenery was riverside suburbs (maybe more natural further downstream). In more normal conditions the trip involves drop off here but then riding the current downstream to a take out. There was mention of potential future drop off at Canyon Lake at what sounds like a very interesting area.

Payment was made via zelle, and reservations were complete. Drop off at Friday morning and pick up at Saturday evening, that was the total duration of the reservation, total cost with what were told deep discounts was $714.44. We talked on the phone and exchanged text message as they were very busy [What I was told]. Weather got pretty nasty and the river was absolutely dirty so we called and tried to cancel, didn't get a response, we sent a text message stating the request for cancellation and refund. It was accepted and the reservations were cancelled. On asking how the refund would take we were told 3-5 business days. Fast forward more than two week and I still have not heard from them. After several failed calls and text messages I have not heard back. If you are working with this company do it at your own risk. Read some more reviews after this incident and found out they have duped other folks too and have charged their credit cards multiple times.. So Lisa and Mike if you are reading this... let me just let you know what you did with us was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for!

We shared funny stores of our adventures along the way and he again kept us chuckling with funny stories of local whatnot on the way back. On the way out of town we had an issue with the trailer carrying our Kayaks. Guess who happened to drive by and lend a hand? Yep, DW. This was our second 30 mike trip on the Devils. It was just as beautiful as I remembered. This place truly lives up to its name. Paradise Canyon is privately owned, family-oriented, and offers something for everyone. There are shallow areas where kids can safely swim and play, as well as deeper sections for adults who want to swim or practice their strokes. The grounds are well maintained, the restrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can spend the entire day relaxing and making memories with your family. I would recommend Paradise Canyon again and again. It's a true Texas gem.

They have several different starting points based on how long you want to float for and all the trips are the same price. They also take credit cards which is nice. What I liked the most about this place was how well they treated us. There was a line, but one of the staff came down the line asking if we had questions and bringing the forms to us as we waited so that we were all ready to go by the time we were up to the counter to pay. They were right on time to pick us up and brought us our towels which was helpful.
