Absolutely one of the coolest experiences any of us who traveled here ever had. We treated our friend for his birthday will a package that is offered and then modified this with some additions which enabled us to spend nearly four hours at the ranch and enjoy some activities that you cannot do anywhere else in the world. The DriveTanks guys that assisted us, Riley, Riley and Gabriel were all super-knowledgeable and helpful and made some great recommendations and provided advice on how to use the various weapons and platforms we rented. Highlights were the PAK40, firing the Sherman, the high-speed course run on the Leopard (who knew you could drift a tank?), the Ma Deuce and of course the flamethrower. Huge array of automatic weapons to choose from and chose we did. Ammo is reasonably priced and I suggest getting more than you expect as you rip through it. I would 100% recommend a visit and would certainly return with a group again. read more

We went to DriveTanks to celebrate my son's 21st birthday and had an absolute blast! Riding tanks was such a unique experience but what really made the day unforgettable were the guides. These guys were ALL amazing! Super knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what they do. One of them is even a real model (seriously!) and they were all pretty dang cool! They took great care of us from start to finish, made sure everyone was safe and having fun, and really went above and beyond to make it special for our son. Huge attaboys to the whole crew! It's expensive, but this was an amazing way to spend a day. You get to drive a tank, fire historic guns from whatever war & country you choose, use a flame thrower, etc. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience with an amazing collection of war memorabilia. My father treated my brother and his wife to a tank ride and some big guns this summer, and today was my turn while Mr R was home for the holidays. The grounds and the hospitality were stellar. I got to drive a Leopard (automatic, thank you!), he fired a howitzer, we both shot an M240 (if that's wrong, blame Mr R and his military history). The range employees were entirely friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and very good company for our 2.5 hour excursion. We got a tour with another family of the collection of firearms, weapons, uniforms and vehicles. This guide was very knowledgeable and responded well to adults and children who had questions or comments. We received clear instructions before firing or driving anything, as were family and friends along to watch. Safety was seriously addressed and then fun was had; this was true for each specialist at every separate activity. I don't get off on the sports stats of wars or weapons, but I had a great time. Mr R will be grinning widely for weeks. I just got home and am terrible with names but will edit as I can to give employees due credit. read more

This place is amazing. I don't care about tanks or guns. Our buddy loves them, and anything WWII related so we went here for his bachelor party (well part of a full weekend...). From the Jurassic Park like gates to the random exotic animals you pass on the way to the beautiful lodge I was already impressed. Then you enter 'the lodge' which is filled with mounted heads and animals from all over the world. Did I mention there's a huge bar for your convenience - free of charge? AND AN ARCADE UPSTAIRS?! So ya - that's not even the fun part. We saw dozens of automatic weapons, all available for fire, I got to climb in tanks. I thought the grand finale was riding around, drifting in a tank but I wasn't even close. We got to fire the automatic weapons and the freaking huge CANNONS mounted to the tanks. I can't tell you specifics because it's not my thing but behind the tank the blowback put a huge toothy smile from the whole party. Did I mention the flamethrower? Oh man this place is amazing. This was a wonderful experience for my father's 70th birthday. Spenser was a fantastic guide and host. If you want to drive real tanks that were in war and shoot fully automatic rifles, this is the place to go. Nice does not begin to explain the experience that we had. This was the best birthday present my father ever had. As a former veteran he was very pleased. The staff and the hosts were amazing. The tanks in the museums are fantastic. We came across drive tanks while we were looking for an outdoor shooting range in the area. My boyfriend and I flew in for a weekend stay at Ox Ranch to have some playtime with Drive tanks and we had such an amazing time with Glenn and the rest of the drive tanks crew. Sometimes - but only sometimes - you plan a trip and everything is better than you hoped. For my family, our time at Ox Ranch / Drive Tanks was one such trip. Where to begin? To start with, everything there is done with such excellence, from the 1800s cabins brought in and restored to the "great hall" which serves as the centerpiece to the property, to the amazing cuisine offered in the dining area. After that, you cannot beat the surroundings - 10,000ish exotic animals roaming freely, the lakes and hills, the dinosaur tracks and the caves, and the stunningly beautiful vistas. All of that alone would be enough... more than enough, but I haven't even gotten started. What a playground! Shooting off flame throwers, driving tanks, zipping around on 4x4s, and many more activies - far more than could ever be done in a weekend. Finally, like most places, its the people that make the real difference. Our guide Chelsea worked relentlessly to make our trip, well, perfect. I lost count of the times Chelsea went above and beyond to make our visit the wonderful experience that it was. She didn't just accomodate our needs and requests, she anticipated them. For us, she was the difference between a great trip and a once-in-a-lifetime trip. But it wasn't just Chelsea - everyone seemed to go out of their way to help us. The chef repeatedly did special things for us for meals, and Riley came and did a nighttime event with us even though he was "off the clock" on his own time. Could they have done anything better? Well, no one is perfect, but as far as trips go this was pretty dang close. It was our second time there, and my kids are already talking about what they want to do "the next time we go." My family and I went to drive tanks this past weekend and had a blast. We were helped by Spencer and Josh, who were both patient, helpful, and friendly. 6 of us rode the tank and had a blast. This review started out as four stars. It was a bit tough and stressful to set up. They are pretty laid back when you talk to them and seem non-chalant about things. That all went away when we got there. Staff at the drive tanks site itself was super professional and on the ball. Gave us a good 30 minutes to walk around, take pictures with the tanks and guns they had there. They explained every weapon was live so as long as we didn't eject clips, flips switches in the tanks, etc we could touch everything there. Started with my friend taking a tank for a drive while the other 4 of us got to sit in/on the tank. My group fired about 5 different weapons at the range. Again super professional with the right amount of instruction and hands on supervision while still making it a fun experience. For that I went 5 stars. Expensive. This was the absolute pinnacle of a fantastic road trip. My husband did the tank and machine gun sampler package and then we shot 5 different guns. We met the CEO and he was a great guy. Spencer gave us a tour through the tank barn and explained the weaponry to us, and he answered all of our questions thoroughly and knowledgeably. The gun range was so much fun and after our experience there, we were able to climb on and in all of the other tanks in the tank barn. This day was so much fun. I have been trying to word a review for our experience, but I just cannot seem to convey the full picture. In the words of our 14 year old "best birthday ever!" The staff at the tank area were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The hands on time in the museum/bay area ranked up there as one of the families favorite museums. our son and his friend are WWII enthusiasts, so it was great to watch them have a chance to discuss tanks and guns (and learn a few things) with others. I feel I over use the phrase once in a lifetime, but really when is it likely they will get to climb into and touch so many difference tanks (including a Sherman)? Or shoot a 50 cal? or a machine gun? And the finale DRIVE for the birthday boy and RIDE for the rest of us in a German leopard tank? Plus we were able to see another family enjoying the Vietnam flame thrower. We are a very frugal family and are very selective when it comes to handing over this much cash. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was not a 10 min day, it was several hours when you take into account the tour, the individual explore time, the lounge, the drive, and time on the range. We have been suggesting this to anyone that we can. It will be a great memory for our family and made us the cool parents! read more
