This place is very expensive off top but it is well Worth it. It feels like you're entering a movie scene in Jurassic park. The dining experience is amazing. The owner could have not picked a better Chef. Executive Chef Milas and team accommodated our every need. Every single dish was amazing! Dinning at OX Ranch deserves a 5 star rating...let that be very Clear! The cabins have all the bells and whistles (5 star). You simply can not complain about the detail and comfort that went into this property, it's perfect. It is mandatory that you have a tour guide. Our tour guide Ross, was the kindest person, definitely felt safe and as if he is family. Okay me and my two children have traveled all around the world together, to some of the poorest countries and richest, that have all been rich in love and given a since of belonging. With that being said.... The check out process is horrible! -5 stars. Chief Operating Officer Angela tried to intimidate me with her tone and posture. When I choose not to do the Recommend tip. Me and my 2 children booked an (All Exclusive Stay!) Total of 2 nights which equaled $4500 + $130 tax. My total for 2 nights $5030 including tax and tip... I choose to give. The Recommended tip for your tour guide is $450, the Recommended tip for your dining experience is $150 and Recommended tip for housekeeping is $30. My budget for OX Ranch was $5000. My tip was $400 which brought my to a total of $5030. This stay was for my sons 18th birthday that had also gotten accepted to his 1st choice college University of Western Washington. The absolute best vacation ever! We came here with our family and everyone enjoyed every second of this trip. Ox Ranch is absolutely beautiful and every staff member we came into contact with was phenomenal. The food is delicious and it was so exciting being able to try different types of meats. The zebra burgers were so good!! The dining staff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner we're all amazing. We had activities at Drive Tanks and the guys who work there are so FUN!! They are all so knowledgeable and so helpful. They are really good teachers when it came to answering questions and showing us how to shoot the guns we did. It's such a cool place to go to and look at all the guns, tanks and memorabilia. You have to do this while you're there! Finally, I have to brag that we had the BEST guides ever! Chelsea and FX were a perfect fit for our group. We loved that FX was so chill, he's a great conversationalist and just a pleasure to be around. Chelsea is something special! She is incredibly passionate about the animals and taught us so much about all of them and the importance of the ranch. Our Patriotic woman's travel group just returned from The Ox Ranch Safari in Uvalde TX! This was the most adventurous exotic animal destination you could not even imagine! We were there for 3 days and our beautiful, energetic, passioninate (about every animal) guide was named Chelsea Harden! She showed up everyday with her big bubbly, beautiful personality and drove us around over 18 acres filled with exotic animals that you could feed, pet and watch from a very close proximity! She explained in great detail the specifics to all of the different species. She was knowledable and passionate about everything she does on the ranch! We witnessed a birth of a zebra right nearby! We fed carrots to a very pregnant giraffe and even saw the baby kicking! We learned about military tankers (photo op) and shot a .50 caliber gun on a shooting range. Skeet shooting, 4-wheeler tour, dinosaur tracks, cave exploring, and water activities to name a few! Chelsea taught us SO many IMPORTANT values about animals and history! We were truly blessed to have her as our guide! There were other staff members who also deserve recognition! Alana, Chico, Brandy, Chef Kay, and Sonia up front worked tirelessly to show our group an AMAZING time while we were there. The Property has SO many wonderful amenities for Adults and children! I recently took my friend here to celebrate his 40th birthday. We knew going in that this was going to be a very expensive experience but we had a wonderful time overall. We fed giraffes, drove and fired tanks, shot some 50cal, rode ATVs across the property and shot some clay. The location is truly unique that feels like we're somewhere in Africa instead of in TX. The plethora of wild exotic animals and river that runs through the property only make the location feel that much more special. Accommodation was great and the service was top notch (For example, our group loves to play board games during our down time so they went out of their way set us up in a place that we can have ample lighting and not be disturbed). Unfortunately I cannot give 5-stars because there are definitely room for improvements: 1. Please, please update the website! For the price you charge it seems absurd that your website could be this out of date. My wife was all excited to do some archery at the ranch (which was clearly listed as an activity on the website) but we had to disappoint her when we realized that info was all from an out-of-date website. 2. DriveTank and other activities. While we had a blast (pun fully intended), we had some legitimate concerns about safety protocols (and this is coming from my friends who are both former military): - It does not appear that the firearms are kept under good condition with regular maintenance. When we shot the 50 cal (not at drive tank) we noticed that the battery on the scope was dead. Moreover, no-one knew when the gun was last cleaned. For such a power weapon this is very concerning. - During our DriveTank activities my highly observant friend found some live ammo from hang-fires mixed in on the ground with all the fired casings. This is extremely dangerous since people walk over those piles all the time. - During our tank rides we were neither offered eye/face protection or were any of those even suggested as items that we should bring. I think it should be REQUIRED. I had the privilege (or bad luck) of sitting at the back of the tank on the outside of most turns. This meant that during the sharp turns in the professionally driven rides I was hit in the face multiple blasts of sand/pebbles at ~30mph. I left the event with completely dry and cracked lips that ultimately led to a massive cold-sore breakout :( 3. Tank shooting. I don't know what the laws say but it would have been a lot cooler to aim and shoot the tanks ourselves from inside the tank. Pulling on a string from a pre-aimed tank just doesn't have the same level of satisfaction. Moreover, I feel like the targets used for these tank experiences detract from our ability to feel the full power of those shots. Using a target that has a lot more visual feedback (e.g. a small wood shed) would have been a lot more satisfying. This is especially true since for many guests this might be their once in a lifetime experience doing something like this. Might as well put in a little extra effort to make sure it's as memorable as it can be. All in all I recommend this place if you are ok with the price tag. There are just a few adjustments that can truly take it to the next level. read more

Went here last weekend for my brothers bachelor party & it was amazing!!!! Blew my expectations out of the water. Now it is pricy but you get what you pay for and more!!! We had all you can drink and eat package, did some shooting, site seeing, & 4-wheeling. Our guides Trevor and Adrian were super cool & would educate the group when driving around and seeing the wild animals. We recently surprised our 16 year old son with a trip out to the Ox. Our visit was absolutely awesome. He had so much fun at the DriveTanks museum where he was able to shoot the 50 cal and experience the Vietnam era Flame Thrower. The many displays are educational and interactive covering many different eras. The different species of exotics and native animals that we were able to see were amazing. The giraffes came right up to the jeep to visit. Chelsea, our great tour guide, made sure our experience was everything we could have ever wanted. We had up close experiences with the Rhinos, a herd of Pere David and Star the Kangaroo. The Safari included a tour through the cave , a tour of the dinosaur tracks , a tour of the museum. a driving tour across the ranch and a nights stay at a cabin on the water. So since I met my husband 32 years ago, I have heard him talk about wanting to someday drive a tank. I will forever be grateful to DriveTanks' CEO for donating the opportunity as a prize for a Texas A&M- San Antonio fund raiser. We won! My husband, son and a few friends joined us today for the experience. Everyone me met was warm and welcoming. The lodge was beautiful and for a while I thought we'd never make it to the tanks because my friend had me keep stopping so she could photograph the wildlife. The museum exhibit was a playground for the grown men turned excited boys. Unlike most museums you can climb on and in all the tanks and touch everything to your heart's content. The knowledgeable young men who staff the place were friendly and enthusiastic about the equipment, encouraging the guys to try everything. When it came time to drive our tank, the staff was careful to strap us all in safely and I was touched by how carefully they assisted 63 year old me to be sure I got on and off safely. The driving course is short, but traverses water, goes into ravines and up hills. It was plenty. After we finished, the guys went to shoot P90 and machine guns while my friend and I bought them souvenir shirts. The icing on the cake was the fellas taking turns firing the flamethrower! Matt as a guide was very professional and took time to discuss the animals. There are two different sets of cabins, one for the safari tours and other set is for hunters. Happy Tanksgiving! We came out here to celebrate- so we did what people do, and hired a tank, and rented some machine guns. This place is amazing. When you drive in, you drive past their private airstrip that's nearly a mile long. When we drove in, there was a large jet parked on it, which later took off while we were visiting. You drive past elk, rhinos, emus, ostrich, just all kinds of wild game! So we went to the lodge, where you check in for the activities. Here we found an open bar, all kinds of taxidermied heads, pool, free video games, and snacks! Their hospitality was incredible. When we got to the garage, they had our tank all ready for us. We got to go to the wall of guns, and we picked out the uzi and a German machine gun. First, we rode in a German Leopard tank, through a simulated battlefield down a large embankment into the river, down stream for a while, and over all kinds of terrain. We went for a bit over a mile in this tank. Afterwords, they let us climb all over the other 7 or 8 tanks they had, climb in and take photos, and just check things out. The firing range was fun, but the bummer part was that they didn't really have much for us to shoot at with these guns. For the prices, they could have brought out some Coke cans or produce to shoot at. We only had two small pumpkins to try and hit. In the end, you can shoot nearly anything you want out there, for a price. They have guns ranging from the small sub-machine guns to howitzers and tank rounds, depending on your budget. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. We had so much fun! This place is amazing. They're doing fantastic things out here. read more

The cabins were absolutely fantastic! Ox Ranch spared no expense to make this place exceed EVERYONES expectations. The staff are all so amazing and they all treat you like royalty. Our guide Ray and his wife Hannah were so amazing! I'm fact my 14 yr said and I quote "Ray and Hannah made it even harder to leave this place". They made us feel like family! Best ranch I have ever hunted on!! I have been to some of the most exclusive ranches in the State of Texas and this one takes the cake by far!! From the time I arrived, the staff was there to offer up amazing experience after amazing experience. I got to shoot a Russian machine gun, hang out with a kangaroo, nap in a pristine cabin, eat a 5-star chef-made meal and pet a camel all within the first hour of showing up. The owner and staff treated me like they had known me all their lives and the service was top-notch. We did a hog hunt out of a deer stand that tops anything I've ever seen and I've been hunting on private ranches in TX for the last 25 years. After that, we did an aoudad style night hunt and saw more animals than I could imagine. Going forward, I will only hunt on THIS ranch. The prices are phenomenal and I can't say enough good things about the staff and property. We happened to come across Ox Ranch while we were researching for outdoor gun ranges in the extended San Antonio area. We found the Drive Tanks website and therein found the lodging options through it's sister company, Ox Ranch. The Ox Ranch website focuses on pushing it's hunting activities which almost deterred us from solidifying our stay. We are not hunters by any means and support animal conservation through non-hunting methods. It was through the front desk associate, Diego, who explained the lodging structure of Ox Ranch and the non-hunting activity options available to us that helped us structure our weekend participation and stay. Thank you Diego! Diego was awesome and one of the many reasons we'll be coming back. Lodging: Excellent cabins, very clean, and spacious with beautiful views alongside the river with wildlife all around. Our guide: Chelsea. What can I say? Surprisingly, Chelsea is Ox Ranch's only non-hunting guide. Her passion, positive attitude, hospitality, knowledge and genuine sincerity for the quality of experience of our 4 person non-hunting group was unparalleled. Chelsea made sure all of our questions, concerns, and interests were addressed and delivered. She honestly was the best part of our weekend stay and is the top reason why we want to come back. There is a website for Drive Tanks and the Ox Ranch website, which pushes hunting activities. The Instagram for Ox Ranch is heavy on hunting and almost made me not book our trip. There needs to be two separate websites to highlight the non-hunting options available for Ox Ranch and the hunting options. The current Ox Ranch website definitely deters an entire demographic of people that would be interested to book a stay. Chelsea is a marketing gem for the ranch, and should management invest in developing the non-hunting experience for potential guests, implementing more non-hunting activities etc with all of the natural resources they have at their fingertips, they'd definitely have a flourishing non-hunting package demographic, and more return guests. From fishing, to ATVing, to dinosaur track hunting, to touring parts of the property, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, archery, Drive Tanks and more! First class place and good hunting. Pros - lodge, guide, staff, food, cabin, variety of animals. Cons - one guide per two hunters, bow blinds are few, bow blinds aren't up before you're there, no help for guides to retrieve and dress animals. The pros listed above were first class. You likely won't find any better elsewhere. The cons were a little annoying if you have a bow hunter and a rifle hunter. It would be better to set out bow blinds a few days prior to your arrival. Revenue improvement suggestion - have other staff members come out and retrieve animal for dressing and putting into cooler. We lost valuable time while our guide had to drive to carcass area, dress animal and more. We would've likely spent twice as much. read more

I was lucky enough to spend my birthday at Ox Ranch with another couple and was beyond pleased with everything from the cabins (super clean and comfy) to the food (delicious!). We did not have any hunts booked but had plenty to do and see. Chelsea was an amazing tour guide and went out of her way to check on our group during our short stay. After our photo safari we relaxed in the pool and fed the friendly kangaroo that was hanging out by the main lodge. I want to preface this review by saying that I am not a hunter or gun fanatic. My buddy coordinated a Bachelor party for 14 guys (half are into hunting and guns) for a weekend. We had no idea what to expect. And when we called to get info, we were given a lot of info that we later found out was inaccurate. HOwever, over all a fantastic time. Pros 1. Location- Amazing. Secluded. Not terribly far from civilization. You will not have cellphone reception. You feel as if you were whisked away to Africa or something. Animals are roaming free. Water is flowing via a river. Very peaceful and serene. 2. Amenities- Wifi is strong around the main building. Buildings are fair new (maybe 2-3 years old). Restrooms are clean. I saw a pool that looked nice and inviting. Beverages were available at every corner (either in a self serve fridge or in a cooler). Lots of activities to do. Favorites included- ATV. They have 7 brand new Quads that would reach up to 50 mph. By far, my favorite back of the package. Gun range- people said that the pistol range was the best. 3. Food- Fantastic breakfast buffet (loved the biscuits) and bbq lunch. For dinner, we had the same 4-5 choices each night. The lamb rack and rib eye stood out. However, it may get boring if that is the menu every night of the week. CONS 1. Communication- Between the front desk and our hosts, we were constantly getting different messages. From what the check out time was (10:00? 11:00? 12:00?) to what was actually included in the package. It was a tad frustrating when you were expecting one thing, but didn't get it. One big example was regarding the hunting. It was hard to tell how much hunting is included in the package. The package describes a Big Blind...know that it can only hold 6-7 people comfortably. If you have a big party, you would have to split the days. Each time a group went to the blind, it most likely means only 1 person will be able to take 1 shot...then the session is over. Out of our group, we went to the blind 4 times and only took a total of 3 shots. Not really a hunting trip. Fishing is stated, but it all depends on if the hosts can get a hold of poles. We wanted to go fishing, but never did. I am neutral about our hosts. Your whole trip is pretty much dependent on them. We were assigned 2, and both were different. Mike was great. Although he was pretty much by the books, he still accommodated us and tried to allow us to have a good time. Cody was funny, but came off as lazy. He would say he would take us to the blind at 6:30am, but wouldn't show up cuz there was some rain. He made a lot of promises (ie fishing and night hunts) but wouldn't come through. With that said, I had the most fun on the ATV tour with him. We went all of over the place and that was awesome. All in all, this was a once in a life time experience. The resort aims to be a high caliber luxury/exotic/all inclusive type of place...and I think they are really close. People just have to know what they are getting into and don't mind paying. The hosts works off of tips so make sure you take care of them. I am not a hunter or gun lover, so I am not sure if I would return. I would love to bring the family, but there really is no freedom to roam once you are on property. But my kids would have loved seeing all of the wildlife around. read more

Me and my partner went to OX Ranch on Friday, not really knowing what to expect. We did not know we had to book, but despite that the host we still offered an hour safari in JEEP on the ranch accompanied by a guide. Chelsea guided us during the hike and gave us excellent explanations of the species living on the ranch and their missions. This is the first time that I saw a ranch as well laid out and with a concern of protection and well being of the species that they protect. At OX Ranch, all activities are practiced with the objective of protecting the animals that live there. This is clearly a must in Texas and we will definitely stay there on our next trip to Texas. Pricing is misleading. the "Hunting all inclusive" listed at 1250$+ doesn't actually include your hunt. "Trophy fees" are mandatory and outrageous. It would be far cheaper to just buy a copy of a Cabela Hunting video game the equivalent amount of meat. 2500$ for a single white tail? Not on your life. Plus, 30 minutes of asking the worker to specify the pricing, and had her spit back at me the same vague non helpful response multiple times before finally getting her to admit what I just noted above. If you really have that itch to hunt, call around to private land owners. I just spent 200$ for 5 days of hunting anything I want on his property. Screw ox ranch. read more

I just returned home from a hunt at Ox Ranch. Although the hunt was fine and my guide, Larry, was awesome, I was extremely disappointed that upon checkout they charged me $1000 for staying there 1 night and eating 2 meals. This was not told to me upfront. I have been on many high fence ranch hunts and this was the first one that charged for boarding and food. You are paying for a very expensive animal and every other high fence ranch takes a $1000 deposit that goes toward your animal; however, Ox Ranch keeps your $1000 and still makes you pay for the animal. Spent a few days at the Ox Ranch lounging around, going on safari, driving (and shooting!) a Sherman tank, firing numerous fully automatic weapons, feeding giraffes, emus, ostriches, etc., and just generally having a blast. Every staff member that we interacted with was engaging, humorous, professional, laid-back, and entertaining. The DriveTanks.com guys were awesome. Glenn, Josh, Riley and crew put together a safe, entertaining, and noisy afternoon of absolutely hysterical fun, plus a night flamethrower experience that has to be seen to be believed. Special thanks to Chelsea, who drew the short straw and had to be our guide for 3 days. She is awesome. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and entertaining. She had us laughing constantly and taught us a lot about the 80+ species that we got to see on the ranch. Thank you Chelsea for a great experience! A group of 14 of us just came back from a bachelor party and it was EPIC! The activities that were included in our package was hog hunting out of the blind, skeet shooting, shooting a .50 cal, tour of the drivetanks.com museum, and much much more. In fact, there are so many activity choices that we couldn't possibly do them all over a weekend trip. But the highlight for me was a guided ATV tour of the property, which combined off-roading, sightseeing and a safari all rolled into one. The lodging was first class. They set us up in a couple of cabins that were about 7 miles from the main lodge. This was perfect as we had a large group and we didn't want to bother the other groups enjoying the property. The cabins were large, clean, and fully stocked with top-shelf alcohol, beer, soft drinks, and snacks. The accommodations also included a pool table, poker set up and hot tub. The meals, especially dinner, were excellent. Most all-inclusive packages skimp on the food and alcohol quality but the Ox Ranch is not the norm. Juicy ribeye steaks grilled to perfection, rack of lamb in an intoxicating glaze, decadent strawberry cheesecake are just a few of the menu choices that I was able to try. And the alcohol, beer and wines were all brand name labels in the mid to top shelf range (e.g. Patron, Grey Goose, Jamison, Makers and pretty much any domestic beer (and some imports)) that you could think of. Also, they stock beer, soft drinks and alcohol everywhere, from the cabins to the blinds and even in the offroad vehicles they use to take you around the property. If you want to grab a drink one is never far away. Speaking of the off-road vehicles, they were absolutely amazing. We were escorted around the property in a modified Ford Raptor and Humvee. They attached safari style seats to the rear of these trucks which provided an awesome view of the wildlife. Just being chauffeured around the property felt like you were going on safari. On a side note, the exotic animals on the property are fearless they get VERY close so be ready for that. Special thanks to our guide Mike! Mike, you were so professional, knowledgeable and affable. It couldn't have been easy babysitting, feeding, cleaning up after, teaching, and pandering to 14 grown ass men. Your patience knows no bounds. I hope our paths cross again brother! There was just 1 criticism I had about this trip. The organization could have been a bit better. While we still got in a ton of activities throughout the weekend, there was a lot of downtime trying to figure out the next activity. Also, we ran into other groups at some of our activities which caused us to either wait or pivot to another activity while the group in front finished. Also, there seemed to be some confusion as to what activities were available to us at any given time and at other times there was miscommunication about start times for certain activities. I think a simple solution would be to have someone like an "event coordinator" go over scheduling with the group a week or so ahead of their arrival. During the scheduling session, the event coordinator can go over the activities and schedule times for those activities ahead of the group's arrival. That way when the group arrives the guides and attendees will have an itinerary and a pretty good sense of what they will be doing and when. That would maximize efficiency and minimize confusion. This "fix" would make your outfit a 5+ star rating! WHERE TO BEGIN!!!!! I am a avid firearm collector/enthusiast. This was my Christmas present from my wife.. I was stoked I get to shoot some guns and drive a tank!!! Was I so caught off guard this amazing place is so much more than a typical shooting outing. This place has guns (REALLY REALLY BIG GUNS!!!!) Upon check in we were greeted with by our guide Chelsea. This woman here! She is knowledgeable, kind, and made sure we were having the best time possible. Absolutely outstanding. She went above and beyond to make sure we had the absolute best time! My wife has a fear of heights. Once she was made aware any time we were going high on a cliff she made sure my wife was comfortable with everything at all times. We went on a amazing safari fed giraffes saw more species of deer than I can possibly remember! We went 4 wheeling we went to a cave even saw dinosuar tracks! There are very few times in life where you truly live life. At ox ranch we lived life. I thank everyone there for our experience! And cannot wait to go back and see the ox ranch family again! read more

If you are coming for a pig hunt you can spend a ton less money for a much better hunt. It's a nice place, food is fine, cabins are really nice, people are nice but plan on getting maybe one pig and the guns they show on the web site are not the guns you hunt with. Bring your own guns. All in all it was an ok hunt but not even close to worth what they charge. If you want other game its a typical high fence hunt...not a ton of sport and pretty easy hunting. If you are looking for a fair chance hunt this is not the place. If you are looking for a place to party and drink and pay a ton of money to kill something this is the right place. read more

12 of us went out there for a bachelor party last weekend. The staff treats you well and are actually very fun to hang out with. Food was fabulous. It was the most fun I've had in a while. Would do it again in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity to do so. Thanks OX Ranch! read more
