Inner City Cars are my new best friends. I officially love them!!…read more Last night I was freezing cold and couldn't see any of the cab firms that I usually travel with so jumped into an Inner City car. The price they quoted me to get home from the city was a pound more than I usually payed but I didn't argue. The car was extremely clean, had comfy leather seats and the taxi driver was very friendly so I wasn't going to kick up a fuss. Some drivers in Leeds speed way over the limit and you feel your life is in their hands at times. However in this car I felt very safe! The car dropped me off at home and I was pleassed with the service. Half an hour later I went to get my wallet and it wasn't there. Please understand not only did it have £20 in, all my cards, my i.d, my credit cards..EVERYYTHING...but it is genuine Burberry and worth more than it's contents. I was not happy!!! I turned my house upside down in a rage, realized it was in the taxi, then rang Inner City. They are obviously a very honest company as they said they had it and said they would drop it off for me. I was so over the moon I cannot explain. Inner City are a trust worthy company offering a safe journey home. It may cost a couple of quid more but it is worth it for the piece of mind that you are in good hands.

Inner city runs out a building that looks like a large porter cabin, as many taxi firms do in Leeds but who cares? They are based in Woodhouse so are very handy if you live in this area but operate all over the city. Last time I wanted to get to the station with god-speed the driver asked me how much I usually pay and charged me that rate - a fair deal for us both in my opinion. I wasn't ripped off, as you can be with some taxis in Leeds, and he got a fiver for what was essentially a 10 minute wizz to the station. And he avoided the traffic by taking the sneaky back roads into town through Little London!

We were told that the taxi would be 5 minutes and to wait outside, which we did in freezing temperatures. In spite of three further phone calls it took a total of more than 35 minutes to arrive. We are both in our 70's and vulnerable to the extreme cold (in fact it is now snowing (morning after Saturday 23rd November) The taxi driver told us that he was dispatched from a call centre in India!! Shame on you BLUELINE. I am a Harrogate resident and have been a loyal customer for over 15 years, but will now be changing my allegiance to another Harrogate Taxi Company. Shame on you again Blueline - You need to be truthful to customers and give them true pick up times to save them almost freezing to death. Take my advice - don't use BLUELINE TAXIS because they are unreliable and give unrealistic pick up times!!!! BEWARE.

My friend got her smart phone out, hit a button on a slick app, and we watched the car arrive on a map in real time. Then there it was -- this huge, shining beast of a vehicle, complete with free bottles of water for us as we drove to our destination. Five years on and they've finally come to Leeds! I can't tell you how excited I was for this to happen. It seems ludicrous that it's taken so long for a taxi firm to establish here that not only uses a smart phone app for ordering (yeah yeah, I know Amber has one) but takes card payments. See, that's the main draw for me -- I can't tell you the amount of times I've had to miss a train or arrive late because I had to visit a cash machine en route. Ridiculous! Not any more. Thanks UBER. Obviously, it's not all roses, but it mostly is. Maybe 5-10% of drivers have been not up to scratch -- either failing to see me for pick up (and basically telling me that it was my fault even though the pin was correct) or driving recklessly. But none were so bad that I rated them (on their app) below 3 stars. Most of the drivers have been a pleasure -- taking care to make sure I don't slip on ice, discussing the fastest route, and so on. I do find it a bit cloying that they all ask me if I've ever had an UBER before, now. (At first it was new, it got old fast.) Either way, I've not had even close to the number of disappointing journeys/drivers as I've had with every single other taxi company in Leeds. It's simply not worth booking with anyone else -- in terms of both cash and time. The only down sides are that there are certain times and areas where cars are just not available (6am for an early train is tricky, as is anywhere not in LS6 or LS1/LS2 at the moment) and of course, the inflated prices at high demand times really are a wallet puncher. At moments like those I'll just suck it up and get a City Cab or something. So! There might not be the free water and Californian sun with your UBER in Leeds, but there will be solid, kind drivers for the most part, and a cheaper journey than almost every other company. I mean, once I got back from town for £3.50. There were two of us in the car, which made it CHEAPER THAN THE BUS. Insane. Srsly. There's no reason not to download the app and at least have it handy. Hooray UBER!

Boasting 130 years of experience, they specialise in bookbinding, but whilst other print houses on the high street do you simple laminating and hole punch-bind (disertation style), Thackray's offer a traditional service, that transformed my work into something I'd happily buy, let alone just take out at the local library!
