I wrote a review just now that was above the size limit so let me give you the condensed version…read more These are extremely decent, kind people of a very rare sort now a days who treat you as a person needing help and go far beyond what most car repair places would ever do for a customer. My car's radiator tank split from (as I found out after it was shown to me after the repair) a combination of heat along with a thick accumulated layer on the radiator itself of dust,dirt,bird feathers (!!) ,twigs and dead leaves that were a quarter inch thick on the radiator effectively choking it to death. They let me stay in the office to work out getting the money raised for the estimated $680-$700.00 repair including tax. Then Michelle at the front desk helped me find a better motel to stay at, After I got a reservation she drove me there after picking up her husband from work, Ernie the shop manager picked me up the next morning,drove me first to Auto Zone where I got some extra anti freeze so I could have some money. It turned out that they were able to use the gallon I just so happened to have in my trunk, a lot places will still use what they have in stock and charge you for it with a big mark up Ernie then told me that although the estimated labor time was four hours Pete the mechanic working on my car actually put in another 3 hours the night before due to the radiator on my '04 Alero (this was only it's 2nd breakdown in the 9 years I owned the car) has to be dropped down as one assembly including all the attached pumps, lines and fans . THEY were NOT charging me for the extra time because when they give an estimate they stick to it. Also they knew that this was a real punch in the gut for me financially and they wanted to help me. They repaired a transmission line which if it was not fixed would of resulted in the transmission burning out for no extra charge except for the $2.50 for the piece of rubber hose that connects the radiator to the transmission. They went out of their way to cut costs (along with my AAA labor discount of 10% to help me out to when all was said and done the actual cost was around $590.00 before tax and my final total was $613.00. I am sure they lost money or at best barely broke even. Earnie then dropped me off at Golden Corral which is very cheap and very good if you really enjoy food. I was called at 2:15 to be told Ernie was coming to pick me up because the car was finished. That was 45 minutes earlier than estimated. Pete took time out to go over the repair in detail,explain everything he did, then show me the broken radiator (which I mentioned before) while assuring me that this just happens and there was nothing I could of done to have prevented it. Then give me his appraisal of the over all long term health of the car which is the old girl still has a lot of life left and if I treat her right as I have been she is good for another 3 years maybe more! Which is amazing for a car with around 245,000 miles on her. I said my goodbyes and felt like I was leaving good friends who had rescued me when I was in a world of hurt! If you ever do break down in or near Aberdeen MD, do NOT go anywhere but Thompson's. They are the salt of the earth and good Samaritans who see their job as helping their customers above making a profit. I felt like I made new friends there so as part of paying them back for how wonderfully they treated me I want do what I can to make sure all "Yelpers" who are in the Aberdeen area who need car repair help to give Thompson's all of their business which is very well deserved. I was looking for a Maryland state inspection for my vehicle, and the Goodyear staff specifically recommended Thompson because several of their employees use this business for inspections. I called Thompson to confirm they performed state inspections and was told I could come in immediately. I arrived approximately five minutes later. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing and unprofessional from the moment I arrived. Before even inspecting my vehicle, a mechanic approached me and stated that he would not perform the inspection and did not want to waste my time. He immediately referenced my vehicle's window tint and oversized tires. As someone registering an out-of-state vehicle in Maryland, I was unfamiliar with the state's specific inspection requirements. I had no issue receiving guidance about potential violations and would have appreciated a professional explanation. However, what happened next was completely unnecessary. As the mechanic walked me outside to look at my vehicle, he began making unsolicited political comments, specifically stating, "See, this is what you get for voting for Wes Moore because I know you voted for a Democrat." I was genuinely taken aback. At no point had I discussed my political beliefs, voting history, or political affiliation. I was simply a customer seeking a vehicle inspection. My vehicle happens to be a distinctive pink-and-black Jeep, but its appearance should not invite assumptions about my personal beliefs. The mechanic's tone and comments made me feel judged and unwelcome. Whether my vehicle would ultimately pass or fail a Maryland inspection was never the issue. I understand that state safety regulations must be followed, and I fully respect that responsibility. My concern is that the interaction became unnecessarily political and personally judgmental rather than remaining professional and focused on vehicle safety. Customers should be treated respectfully regardless of their vehicle's appearance or perceived political affiliation. I left feeling that I was not given a fair or professional opportunity to have my vehicle evaluated. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Thompson Auto Repair and Towing for vehicle inspections or other automotive services.

A man with high integrity who did everything he could to help me out. He did his best to get my car started in an effort to avoid the tow but the ignition coil relay was toast and so i needed the tow. As i had just come off a double shift working 17 hours,Joe took care of everything and let pay later so i could get some sleep. Greatly appreciated by me.
