AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COSTS. I would give 0 stars if this site allowed. I never write reviews but after seeing a positive review of this guy, I had to share my story.
Don't be fooled by the fancy Back Bay office - this guy is a sham. I had the worst dental experience of my life here. This dentist pushes procedures you don't need, including making me come in "asap" for two molar fillings. (I later found out from my trusted family denist in NJ, who looked at the "before" xrays, that both fillings were COMPLETELY unnecessary. There was no decay in either molar) When I arrived for the fillings, a girl started to prep me. She was not introduced to me so I thugth she was the hygenist, prepping me for Dr Rodriguez to come in and do the work. Then she administered the novocaine (poorly) and started working on me. No introduction. The appt was with him -- his is the only name on the door and in the practice -- and now some unknown is working on me. He absolutley had an obligation to introduce his apprectice if he could not make the appoinment. Instead they said NOTHING.
She botched my fillings so badly: A few highlights: a) it took her nearly 2 hours to fill 2 teeth (it should take a half hour TOPS) b) my novocaine wore off twice during the work c) it becaime increasingly clear to me she was very unsure of what she was doing that the hygenist had to stop her a few times from doing something she knew was wrong d) she never once asked how i was doing, whether i needed a rest, ANYTHING. After two hours I could barey get my mouth closed, my jaw had been held open for so long.
When I was done, I asked the receptionist who the hell that was that just worked on me and she said that was a new associate of Dr Rodriguez's. I asked for some info on her and they would not give me any. At that point, I demanded all of the xrays he had takenon my first visit there. Reluctanty, she gave them to me after quite a battle. When I got back to work after the appt and the novocaine wore off, I was in so much pain and my face was starting to swell. I called and complained and asked to come back in to see HIM to fix the issue. They said he was with a patient, so she got on the phone with me and told me that she'd call in a prescription for an antibitoic ("in case it got infected durign the procedure" Since when is a cavity filling a "procedure"?!) and some pain reliever.
Then I decided to google this woman. I found out that she had JUST GRADUATED DENTAL SCHOOL 2 WEEKS BEFORE MY APPT. She had not passed her boards and was not licensed to practice. She also was not listed as a practitioner with my insurance company (which is insurance fraud - I caleld my insurance co and filed a complaint). The work was billed under HIS name.
I started trekking back to NJ to go to my long time trusted dentist after that experience last summer. He took one look at the fillings she did and was horrified. THEY ARE ORANGE. My fillings are literally orange. In his words "it looks like she filled them with Cheetos".
I should close by saying that I am one of the easiest dental patients ever. 4 impacted wisdom teeth, extensive orthodontics, a root canal, 2 crowns...I never have any issues even with tough procedures. And i never complain. But this guy has got to be stopped from doing this "bait-and-switch" on patients again. Please, do not patronize his practice. read more
