I feel it is my public duty to make a review of this store after today. In OC, we get charged $7.75 in sales tax, another fee for CA CRV and tax on alcohol. I knew these guys hiked up the prices on their stuff but I figured it was ok because I'm paying for the convenience. But, I realized today they are adding an additional 4% on the dollar for every dollar spent! $20 for a six pack and a shot?! Madness!! Not only do they over charge on all their inventory they also add an additional percentage for using a credit or debit card. Greedy people! I have been going to that store literally 40 years. The current owners better figure out circle k is right up the street next door to a CVS. No fees and cheaper inventory. Convenience is not worth it. I'm sad to say they will no longer be getting anymore of my business or my money. read more

So apparently because I just moved here and still have my NY ID ... it's a problem for the mid aged white lady there on Saturday nights. She had no patience to even locate my Date of birth so she went straight to scan and when then wouldn't work she started to grill me with questions. Felt like an interrogation. Stopped here today, husband to get a six pack of beer and for me to cash in a lucky scratcher ticket that was worth $200. It was 1pm and the lady who I believe is the owner said can help you, as her husband was ringing up another patron . I showed her my ticket explaining I had a winner. Any lottery ticket under $600 is cashed by store. She would not cash it saying she did not have enough money. Right. At 1pm in a busy store selling liquor tix and cigs right and left. I stood there she told me to go to a market instead. I waited until my husband came to the front with his purchase. She then said if I spent $100 dollars in her store she would give me 100 back, you're kidding right? We have lived here 26 years, these are not original owners and it shows, will never go to this store again. I plan to report them to the California lottery commission as well. read more

This place is a huge rip off. They had a nice bottle of bourbon that I had been looking for and they had a few bottles, so I went to buy three of them. They charged almost double than what anyone else was($32 bottle they charged $60) and didn't offer any discount for making a $200 purchase. Steer clear of here even if you are looking for cheap beer. For a Convenience/Liquor store, they're as good (or bad) as any. But I have a big problem with the fact that the owner will not lift a finger to pick up the litter from his landscaping (primarily at the north end of the lot) so it is all left to blow down the street making the city look trashy. I think a convenience/liquor store can be an asset to a community, but they are a horrible neighbor. Owner blames it on his landlord, who hired a property manager, who hired a nightly lot sweeper, who only does the parking lot and blows all the garbage into the landscaping. When I asked for the landlord or property manager's name, the owner says he doesn't know it. B__sh__t. I am in the process of complaining to the city, but I would appreciate any other Yelpers to go in and tell the owners behind the counter how terrible the garbage in their lot looks and how much you resent their contribution to the loose trash. Remember, eventually it all ends up in the ocean. I cleaned it up today, but you will see it all strewn about again within a few days. Can you tell I'm frustrated? read more

These people are thieves! After reviewing past receipts and going in today I realized that I have been overcharged every time going here. After buying some beer today I went back in to talk to the woman working there. When I asked her about being overcharged she said that 4% is added to every purchase because that's what their credit card service system adds to the bill. When I told her I was overcharged 8% she said it was only 4%. When I brought a 15 pack of beer up and she rang it up she said the CRV deposit was $1.50. Not only are they charging 4% over the list price but they're charging 10 cents for CRV on each can when it should be only 5 cents. DO NOT SHOP HERE! read more

I've been coming here for almost 10 years. I moved to Utah for two years and just moved back. I stopped in for the second time since I've moved back. The cashier asked if I had a CA ID and I said, "no, I just moved". He said next time I cannot get anything unless I have a CA ID. Don't tell customers they can't shop because your too LAZY to examine an ID. Wow bro. I get you're worried about fake IDs, but this is your job. Learn some watermarks, shit, take a minute to use a blacklight or something. I honestly understand if you need to take the time to second guess an ID from out of state. i actually think the prices were better than any other Gas Station/Grocery store in the area. I live in Arizona and was suprised. It was easy walking distance from my my mother's new place in Highland Park. Located in a very nice complex with 2 other quick stops/gas stations, but wider selection and better prices. The 2 asians guys i see in there all the time are very friendly and nice. I'm very pleased w service and their wide selection of cheap liquor and snacks. Obviously prices might have gone up in recent years(only have been here 4 times all in 2012) but waaaayy more resonable than any place i have been in AZ. isnt CA more expensive?!?!? Or is AZ just screwin' me?! ;) Either way, i enjoy talking a walk to the complex, and am drawn to the store!! read more

Terrible selection, terrible prices, money suckers. This location has ridiculous fees and hidden charges that they do not tell you about when you are using credit or debit. On multiple occasions they have charged me different prices for the same items I'd buy regularly! Most if not all of the produce and perishables are already perished or have gone bad. Was going to buy a couple of limes to make margaritas one night and the gentleman then pointed me over to a container holding six brown and orange testicle looking balls which he called limes, then told me that I could buy them for a deal and get 3 for $2 instead of 2 for $2, because they had gone slightly bad. Ew, you eat it sir. I believe its a .75 cent fee for using Debit when under $10.00 There is a $3.00 fee for using the shitty ATM they force you to use past 10PM when their "machines aren't working". There is always a few kids outside of the liquor store sitting on the railings or outside waiting for someone to buy them alcohol or cigarettes. Also, they have been selling alcohol to underage minors for quite some time now and on many scenarios have witness they "forget" or purposely choose not to ID the high school and college age kids. The two smelly men behind the counter have no idea how to run a business. Im truly shocked that this place is still in business. Don't go here! Go out of your way and hit the Albertsons down the street or hit up a BevMo on your way home! Don't waste your money here, their prices are highway robbery and you can end up paying much less elsewhere. They also refused to let me use my own debit card making a purchase simply because my name on my TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT CARD was "Preferred customer", I explained the situation and all they said was to use the ATM. Jerry and Ka, are funny, very attentive and remember you by name. They loved to see my kids in the car and give them candy. The customer service is great, made my day every time! I wrote this review on another yelp page for the same liquor store but I really want to give a heads up about this . I like coming here and always stop on the way back home from school and even go further to come here because I like their selection, but I'm done after today. They charged me an extra few bucks, which I found out when I got home. I usually don't get my receipt from them, so my fault. I know this because I check what is withdrawn. This is the second time that I know they have overcharged me, I'm sure it has happened even more. I thought maybe it was an honest mistake the first time, but not anymore. It's sad because I have spent a lot of money there and I like the employees, but they won't be getting my business anymore. My fault for not getting a receipt, but that doesn't change the fact that they ripped me off of a few dollars when I spend a lot there anyways. read more
