I went in around 6pm last night and as soon as I walked in I was not greeted. I approached the 3 workers who were gathered by the register & asked if there was a restroom to which the old lady responded, "there's someone in there". Assuming they did not want me using it, i continued to shop. There was another staff member who was restocking and I asked him if there was a restroom and he was so quick to assist me, lead me to the restroom and did it all with great attitude. At checkout I was given the nastiest attitude. The worker had asked for my ID & held onto for an extended amount of time. Then when I mentioned having to scan the membership barcode he simply pointed at the scanner instead of scanning it for me. I packed everything into my cart and he asked, "do you even make good money doing that?" as he had seen I was Instacarting. Not only were they rude from the start and unhelpful, but now they were asking about finances ? I am one to explain the app and how it works to someone who is genuinely curious, but not to someone who has been an absolute jerk. I hope that the Tuesday night crew is different from other nights because they create an extremely unattractive atmosphere. read more

Walking distance from our place, however I do not recommend you walk it, it's a lot safer if you drive, why you may ask? Bc the PCH is always busy at all times of day and people zoom in and out they here so yeah drive. This is a very nice (small but carries a LARgE selection) well staffed and the nicest cashiers too. We come here often that I just had to download their app and sign up for rewards. Today I saved $10.00 off of a $50Plus purchase, we spend over $200.00 so hubs used his rewards too and we saved a total of $20.00 plus got 10 bottles of wine for free. Some prices may be higher here, but location and easy access in and out are worth it. They do carry an amazing selection of wines from all around the world. I am pretty much 100% buy online and go pick it up. It used to take forever to get someone to come bring it outside but in the past year and half they have really stepped it up. Staff has really improved here, the two women I've had help me out there recently have been great. My first time here a couple years ago was with my mom, we'd come to see if they had a specific drink my dad was looking for. Upon checkout the employee asked for both our ID's even though my mom was paying, but I hadn't brought my wallet with me as my mom was driving us around that day so I had no need for it. It's been a while since I have felt the need to review a business but... I went in to the local BevMo to grab my favorite bottle of tequila. Cava de Oro Extra Anejo. Every place on the planet, charges roughly $89 a bottle. This particular BevMo decided to charge $129. I asked if they price matched. At first they said yes. I showed them a price from a local liquor store which was $89 a bottle. I was then told that they only price match with Total Wines. I said, that's strange. So I proceeded to pull up a price comparison from Total Wine's. The price was $99. Then I was told they had to make sure Total Wines had this specific tequila in stock, so I googled a Total Wine store that had it in stock. I was then told that this wasn't good enough because it wasn't a local store, it was located in Rancho Cucamonga. I said, what does that matter? The answer? They only price match with Total Wines in Laguna Hills. Am I crazy? Charging $40 over the suggested retail price in my mind is considered price gouging, especially to a local customer. The so called manager then made a comment, I sell this for $129 all day long! Needless to say I said thank you very much and walked out. He spent so much time helping me find the best bottle for my preferences, and also picked wines that were part of the yellow tag sale (buy one get the second for 5 cents!). I ordered online and went to pick it up at the store where I met one of the employees, Steve. When he was looking for the order, I realized that I accidentally placed it at another store. I was about to walk out but he stopped me. He looked at my order, bagged up the bottles, and said that he would contact the other store to cancel the order. This store is conveniently located. The store as well as the parking lot is a bit small and is not yet fully stocked as the grand opening isn't until December 8th, according to this nice staff member. I wish I would have checked his name tag so I can give him kudos for service. We found what we were looking for but it was $5 more than Total Wine. They price matched so we bought 2 bottles! Great location and newer store; but, service is generally anemic and their prices are just not competitive; not even with Gelson's! Much of their (overpriced) better spirits and wines are behind locked cabinets and you're made to feel like a potential common thief with the way they run it off and away from you to hold behind their counter; despite the parking lot being filled with Range Rovers and Maseratis. It's one of their smallest stores so selection is limited and the aisles are narrow and dark. Tried it a couple of times, I think I"m done. read more

The building is very nice but their sign is an eyesore welcoming visitors of my town to BevMo Dana Point. We don't need more of these places in the community... this is another example of poor planning decisions from Dana point leadership. I am saddened to say that my husband could not provide the name of the staff member who was so surly towards him. I am recovering from a surgery and he did not want to go far to buy some non-alcolholic beer for me; we usually buy it at Total Wine off of El Toro...great price and friendly staff. He was told by a friend that BevMo will match prices so he picked up 6-6-packs of Bitburger 0% alcohol. Oh " no, no, you can only buy 2" at that price! I thought BevMo was a "discount" liquor store. Looking at the Scotch and Bourbon prices and selection I was unimpressed. Ralph's next door has lower prices and you can do all your food shopping there to boot. I buy Boddington pub ale four packs on sale at Gelson's for $6.99. The best BevMo could do was $7.77, but that requires you to join their "club" which I bet results in a spam blizzard. The building is fairly attractive thankfully because it dominates the entrance to the Lantern District at the PCH/Del Prado Y. The Dana Point sign on the wall inside is cool, but not cool enough to have me shop here again. Heck I might have to quit drinking, this hobby is getting too expensive. read more

I don't normally post reviews but I see some complaints on here about this store and I disagree. I laugh at how people can worry about their perspective on what they think is a rude employee right now. Also, someone complaining about money not being refunded correctly because of a mistake in a charge is also silly. Listen, these workers are there taking multiple orders daily while risking their own health just to be sure you get your alcoholic beverage or what not for your comfy self isolation. Maybe the worker being rude was a result of a rude customer. Let's remember that for every action there is a...say it with me now, REACTION! Yay! Gold star! And maybe a mistake of charge was made and maybe they just weren't sure of how to correct it and that's ok too. Maybe learn some compassion and patience because everyone is human and sometimes mistakes happen. They are working under some pressure so give them some grace. I needed water. While every store in the area was out of water, this location had some! I searched almost every darn grocery store and convenience store for water and when I called this location, an employee named Allison said "no problem! We got you!" I have a young child at home (who uses it for formula) and this water was much appreciated after the many searches I did. Her and a gentleman named Kevin made sure to get my order over the phone so I wouldn't waste no more time, and they both recommended a good wine for me and a good beer for my husband. When we got there, Allison and Kevin had our order ready to go and even had a good conversation with my husband. These employees and managers are working hard to keep items in stock during this time when they are not readily available in other stores, and they are making sure to take ANY and ALL sanitary precautions to keep their customers safe and themselves. They are tired, they want to be home and be safe too, but they are taking pride in their position to help us! I have noticed many people being rude during this time and it's unfair to the people who are working to keep our essential needs open. So remember, if you think someone is being rude then take a second and ask yourself how your attitude is coming across, or even your vibe. It's a stressful time for us all so be kind and be patient. Not everyone is running off of peace and calm right now. So a big THANK YOU to this location for going above and beyond for customers, and thank you to Allison and Kevin for helping us that day!
