This Liquor Store is under new ownership and every time I walk out of there I'm so glad to have it back. I can relate to the previous one star comments, the old owner/ or two that worked there were horribly rude. It would keep me from going as often as I actually wanted to. I've only had a positive experience every time I've been in since the new ownership and I appreciate it more than they know. Glad to see I'm not the only one who had to deal with the owner. He is a complete dick. I tried buying 2 powerball and 2 mega million tickets. Only after he printed them out did he tell me that I can only pay cash. (Every place around here let's me buy them with card) the total was $8. I told him I didn't plan on paying in cash and only had $7 on me. He then proceeded just to stare at me as if I could pull money out of thin air. He cussed at me under his breath.. loudly. I tried to be agreeable so I told him I still could afford 1 of the 2 tickets. I paid and he didn't even offer me my change. Never going back here again. I'd give zero stars if I could. I work across the street and I go there to get soda and chips during lunch or after work and the owner is probably the rudest person I've ever met. Horrible experience. Bought a puff bar and right after i left i realized it was leaking after i took it out of the box and it wouldn't hit. I wish I could give it no stars but I had to share my scariest experience at a liquor store and I've been in one that was being held up. I walked in to buy Margaritas and discovered my mask was missing a loop so I held it over my mouth but the guy at the counter who may have been the owner told me to get out. I stepped outside and fixed my mask went back in got the Margaritas and picked up a few candy bars. I wasn't mad or anything- I know people want to be safe and all but I felt a totally negative vibe. He just seemed so angry. When I got to the counter to pay I realized I had left my card in the car but had a $20. That might cover the Margaritas but his prices are pretty high so I asked him to ring the Margaritas up first to see if there was want more room left. I know he heard me but started to ring up the candy first I asked him to stop - he was so irritated. I thought maybe there was a language barrier issue as he never spoke. I told him again and just looked angry and confused and put my stuff behind the counter and tod me to get out. Reminded me of the soup nazi. I mumbled to myself what an asshole and he yelled out " YOU F__KING BITCH, YOU F__KING CU_T. Yes he called me the "C" word and there was no language issue.I don't know what set him off but he grabbed grabbed something off the self and I started running because I thought he might throw it at me. If you must go in there try not to talk to him as he might go crazy on you. There are way to many more convenient liquor stores in Dana Point with friendly clerks. AVOID this place as your life might depend in it! I feel that if I had been more of a smart Alec that bottle or what ever it was he grabbed would have ended up on the back side of my head. If he is the owner he should have bought a business that requires way less customer interface - I can see by previous reviews that I am not his first victim. Maybe he's angry because business has been slow because of Covid. Maybe he's angry because of all Asian hate right now which I can sympathize - it's a horrible situation. Never turn in a scratcher ticket there.... I won just a few bucks there... I gave the guy my 2 tickets, he just took them from me and didn't give me my money because I didn't scratch a certain area. I asked him to give it back but just shook his head. Used to go there all the time and thought they were nice but they're just greedy. It's so so as far as bodegas go. In a pinch I found some dusty bottles of wine with little neon price stickers on them which I probably could have found in your average Ralph's grocery store for cheaper. I visited Party time liquor yesterday to buy bait and go fishing, when I went to purchase the bait I was asked if I wanted bag, I said no thank you, i held the bag in my hand so I did not set it on the counter out of respect, and I said unless you give small free bags (especially for bait) then I will take one, that's when everything when wrong, the man screamed at me saying he telles me no free bags I have to tell you every time you come in, no F%$# ING FREE BAGS! I been stopping there occasionally in my 25 years plus as a resident of Dana Point. Last night I stopped there for a few items real quick, the shop owner ( I think he was ) seemed out of it... when I pulled my card to pay he said in a strange tone " I am charging you 40 cents for the use of the card " ... I said ok, then I asked " why ?" he rudely tried to make a comparison between Las Vegas and his shop... I said it's ok man... Then he said you do not have to shop here if you do not like it. And come to think of it, you are right Mr. Angry ! I will not shop there, I will write this review and make sure everyone knows about how lame you are, and personally you will NOT ever see me there. You are rude and obnoxious and you can have your silly shop.
