The sauces and jams are made in house. They sell main stream candy repackaged in general store packaging for an up charge. There's Windham and Catskill souvenirs. There's stuff made by local artists along with big box toys and items. There are a few cats living in the store and restaurant - all are super friendly. The restaurant is nice but the service is extremely slow and could be a touch nicer. There are multiple signs talking about the whole world being understaffed. Just be prepared to spend a while. The waitress was fine but clearly very busy. We had mentioned wanting to get dessert at the beginning but when we were done eating, she had just brought us our check - we were too fully anyway. I had the garden salad sandwich on farm bread. The avocado wasn't the freshest and there was only one tiny piece of tomato - this will probably be a good sandwich in peak summer. The sandwiches came with chips and salsa. The store made mango salsa is delicious. Locally made root beer in a bottle was delicious and unique. The baked goods were quite pricey (almost $9 for a small square of raspberry bread). The bathrooms are on the otherwise by the kids toys.

Prices seemed a little high but the dishes were delicious, with portions being reasonable and the Pad Thai not being overwhelmingly sweet. The fried chicken was magically crunchy outside and moist inside, with an irresistible dipping sauce not too cilantro-y. The Windham Local has a parking lot off to the side, but there was ample street parking too. And a shop proprietor later told us that The Windham Local is her place to eat in town!

I've gotten moldy mozzarella cheese & ricotta a couple times, food that seems obvious it thawed out & refroze, meat that smelled rotten upon opening. Many times the faulty refrigerators/freezers have pools of water on the floor around them, food appears soggy yet still for sale. The store has it posted it closes at 8pm (winter hours) yet go there at 7:15 and you'll be told "sorry I don't have a draw" by customer service desk while a bunch of kids have already run around & shut all the lights off so your shopping in the dark, 7:15.. I could understand 7:50 maybe 7;45, but 7:15 every night lights out is just not giving a sh*t All of this yet prices higher than anywhere else. If this town ever gets an another grocery store that place will go out of business fast. It's a shame, no pride.
