My mother went through the worst experience with Dr. Smith today at Anderson vet. The whole negative experience from the beginning was all so unnecessary. They told her to come in a side door and go to room 1, this is to avoid the waiting room. She had to put her dog down and gave her specific instructions for the ease of the appointment only to wait for 20 plus minutes in the waiting room after they said. "Oh sorry someone's in the room apparently. Finally gets into the room to let her dog start the process of being put down only to have DR. SMITH go on and on with non stop talking about stupid conversation all the while my mom cries and cries to have her stop And just proceed to ignore her and keep talking. Very unprofessional and incredibly insensitive my mom left crying . So unfortunate this vet is so unprofessional . Shame on all of them. read more

Anderson Veterinary Clinic is an F'ing rip off. I just moved up here. I'm trying to get my dog some flea/tic/heartworm medication ... But the vet requires a wellness check before they'll give it to me. So I make appointment thinking the wellness check is going to be between 50 and $70.... Well three dogs and a one-month supply for each and I am out $600..... Just for them to look at my dogs and prescribe me a one month medication..... That's F'n crazy I told them I will not be back ever again. I would rather just take them to the vet when I'm in Santa Cruz every month and pay half the price. Effin ridiculous! I am so upset right now Yes Santa Cruz is cheaper than that place with the cost of living there that's about three times what it is here!!! read more

Two words: Clown show. I took both of my dogs in to this place several times. Last week, after dragging both dogs into the office, they told me that would have to reschedule one of my dogs because there was no doctor there to see her. She had an appointment! Today I waited 45 minutes and when the nurse finally came in she told me it would be another 20-30 minutes. I couldn't wait, so we had to reschedule again! All I'm trying to do is get her vaccinations caught up. My lab had some stomach issues during her initial visit, acid reflux is what I told them, but they insisted on running a bunch of labs which showed nothing, just as I suspected. It turned out to be acid reflux, which I addressed with otc medication. Nice people but poorly run. I would avoid unless you have nothing better to do with your life than drive back and forth to the vet. read more

I have never had anything but loving care from every vet and staff member. Even when one of the vets went home sick the remaining vet took all her appointments instead of calling and cancelling them. I have been bringing my animals to this clinic for many years never having any problems in the past I just recently got a puppy and he was super super sick and it was a Saturday and so I drove to the clinic that I've been going to this place to see if I could just get a doctor to come out and just check on my puppy to make sure that he was breathing okay cuz he had a really rough night struggling with respiratory issues and I hadnt established him anywhere yet because we just got him so i thought maybe the vet i had been going to for years would just look at my puppy it would of taken a second there were no cars in the parkinglot they had just opened and I got the most disrespectful staff members that told me that I couldn't go into the building because my dog was experiencing issues and that nobody could help me and then thought it was okay to talk about my business to each other in front of the building and was very unprofessional now I'm being told that they have to let me and my dogs go because of it like ridiculous all the money I've spent at this place all the years I've been coming and because their staffs is un professional they're letting a client go so I don't recommend them at all stay away from them plus they don't even answer their phones if they do answer them they put you on hold for days and have even with an apintment for a nail trim ur expectes wait time is atleast 2 hours it is just crazy how they treat clinents read more

The Vet and Staff are amazing here. Found a malnourished dog the night before and went in to scan it to see if a microchip was there. Sadly not. The staff filled a triage form to get the stray seen. This is not a negative review. The irony is that I am sure these veterinarians are committed to their patients and are good at what they do. This is simply the explanation given to help me understand why there were so many delays in my dog's treatment. The receptionist told me today that this clinic is so overwhelmed treating many animals with serious conditions that they cannot properly provide timely or proper care for all of them. As a result they have to pick and choose which ones to save and which to put on the back burner. If you are unfortunate to be given low priority then, no matter how many times you call or leave messages, and no matter how serious the medical condition you may or may not receive timely help. This is what the receptionist explained to me when I expressed my dismay at the delays in treatment. read more

Sara was kind today and let me know next time do not hesitate to bring it to their attention. I do not have any animals, but I did take my neighbor and her dog Roxie their today. I have been with Anderson Vet Clinic for many years. They took excellent care of my Lab Sophie when she developed cancer of her leg. Dr. Korn was our vet then but now Dr. Emily is there and she is very compassionate, understanding and a wealth of veterinarian knowledge. Dr. Emily removed a small cyst from my Labs eye tear duct area and now, only two days later the swelling has gone down and the area is almost unnoticeable. The surgery Dr. Emily is beyond belief. Took my dog there for swelling abdomen and difficulty breathing. Vet Townsell checked him and said his heart sounds fine , no murmur. also said she could not tell if he was retaining fluid or was " just fat" she wanted to do chest x-ray and heartworm test, quote was 775$ I declined , she was rude and did not seem very knowledgeable. I took him to another vet and he was diagnosed with CHF and stage 4 heart murmur. he is now getting the proper meds. I would not recommend this vet clinic. read more

Been a client for 2 years. The vets here are great- if you're lucky enough to bypass the mess that's the front of house and speak/see them directly. Sadly the women who "run" the front desk are the reason we moved our dog from this vet. The front of house is so poorly managed, here are just a few of our negative interactions with them: -They gave inaccurate information regarding care for the dog prior to surgery, something that if I followed would have cancelled the surgery. - They are unethical. They (front of house) REFUSED to let me speak to my vet in regards to my 14y old dog who was suffering from a tooth abscess. He is unfit for anesthesia (per the vets decision) so literally the ONLY option is to give him antibiotics and make him comfortable. They refused when I asked them to speak directly to Dr. Cline and explain to him directly (he is wonderful but getting to him is impossible) and could only get me in 4 days later to see a vet. They refused to get him any antibiotics in the interim. - When I picked my dog up after a procedure they brought him to be in a fully saturated bloody bandage with zero after care instructions for a tube hanging out of his ear. - They called me 9 separate times (different people) in one day to tell me blood test results, even though I spoke with them the first call. - I am STILL waiting (weeks) for them to email me the notes on a $300 ultrasound that deemed my dog inoperable. Despite me emailing them and speaking to two different girls asking them for the information. Like I said, once you see the vet, they are great but the front of house is unbearable and unethical. I cut my losses and found a vet that puts dogs first. Thank God. read more

I recently took my dog to Anderson Veterinary Clinic after years at another vet which has lost credibility. I was extremely pleased with the quality of service at Anderson Vet. The office was clean and well organized. The staff was knowledgeable and efficient. Dr. Townsell was very impressive. At least half a dozen of my neighbors are going from Redding to Anderson because we all believe in the quality of care this clinic provides for our pets. I have been extremely happy with Anderson Vet. We just moved away and I will miss them terribly. Dr. Neligh provided top notch care at specialist level as a gp. She took wonderful care of our dogs and cats. She dealt with my little dog's horrendous gi problems, diagnosed a splenic tumor on our old dog with nothing but vague signs to work with, and took excellent care of the rest of the menagerie. Eva, our orange tabby cat was one of kind. Not in the sense of that you do not have a good cat but in the sense of that for a single mom raising two girls on my own, I needed a helpful paw. She would walk my daughters to and from the bus stop daily. She watched over them and took turns sleeping with on their beds. Eva had been going to Anderson Vet since 2018. Routine checkups and weight management type visits. I brought Eva to Anderson Vet in May of 2020 when we discovered Eva had a small pea sized lump that seemed loose under the skin, on her back, near her tail. We were reassured that it was just a fatty tumor. Something that cats get when they become mature. I still felt as though that the no matter what it was that it needed to be removed. They told me something like that would be unnecessary, and expensive, it is just something to watch. In September we brought Eva back when the lump had now attached itself to Eva's spine and was larger. Again, we were told that it was a fatty tumor and not to worry, no tests were taken, at this point we are at $600 in vet bills just for 2020. It became larger in late December of 2020 and I was told that they could possibly drain it so they could get a biopsy. When I picked up Eva later that day the lump was not drained, her back was now shaved, and she had needle pricks all over the mass lump on her back. That was almost $500 vet bill... A few weeks later they called to notify me that they had results but because they were not able to get a good sample of the mass and that it would be an additional $897 and that would include also getting an x-ray that would let them know more details than the ultrasound images. At this point I felt I was not getting any answers from Anderson Vet, so I switched vets. Today February 26th, 2021, I had to put down my cat who was finally diagnosed with sarcoma cancer, which is extremely aggressive. And if caught early can be removed... She was only 11 years old. I cannot help but think, if they had removed this in June, she would still be here. If you have a mature cat, take her elsewhere. read more

There is zero communication among staff, doctors and clients. They cannot seem to get medications ordered correctly or in a timely manner. And they don't call back. When I finally reached them they said my pet had to come in to be reassessed for the same issues she was there for 5 days before so they could give her the meds she was supposed to get the day of her visit. After using Dr. Anderson for twenty five years he decided he is too busy to be my horses vet. He last saw them in November for vaccine and exam but now that they are sick and need an emergency vet he decided he is too busy! You may want to reconsider using him since you never know if you'll be the next person bumped out of his practice. He left me horses with NO vet while sick on a weekend. I thought this place was great at first until my parents lost one of there cats ok he had cancer however, the second cat had to have her eye removed and they told my parents she would have an extended life of up to 5 years she died 3 months after surgery. I took my 3 cats there for just shots and exams ok fine they did ok. Then I take my youngest cat (3 years old) and they did a scrapping of this thing under his eye and automatically said it was cancer they did not biopsy it or anything. That day they put him on chemo (kinavet) but it's making him sick and we are not even sure it is truly cancer I went to cottonwood small animal vet and they did biopsy and the thing was benign so I was making my cat sick because all they wanted was money I now go to COTTONWOOD SMALL VET CLINIC They confirmed it was not cancer read more

My family has gone to this clinic for as long as I can remember, at least 12, 13 years, however long its been open. through 2 cats, and 3 dogs, they have been great with my parents animals, so when it came time for me to adopt my little puppy I knew I was going to go there, my little puppy is now close to two years old and she loves all the ladies down at anderson vet, she just loves to see them all and they treat her so well. Great vet clinic all around! I'm from out of town and my dog had lacerated his leg that morning. I called multiple vets trying to get him in an nobody would take him. Anderson vet was my last hope an they were able to work me in right away. Dr. Smith took care of my baby an she did great at explaining everything. The staff was great as well. I'm super disappointed. If you're a new pet owner, consider going somewhere else. I took my new kitten Peach here for a new kitten appointment which includes a vet exam and flea treatment. A day or two after the appointment my fiancé and I noticed black dust in our kitten's ears. We figured they just needed to be cleaned so we wiped them out with a cotton ball. A week later and our kitten is scratching her ears and shaking her head still. I googled this and it came back with fleas or ear mites!! We decided to do a ear treatment and there was tiny black bugs coming out of her ears all over her face! Why didn't the vet look in her ears?! I'm so upset because she's been dealing with this for weeks now and we had no idea! I also feel like I need to add that she's an indoor cat and our only pet so there is no reason these bugs would've just appeared a few days after her appointment.
