Horrible place, bad conditions for animals. They had two horses tied to a metal fence near a busy road, not to mention that they also use to have a large paddock filled with a bunch of horses. Got a face cord of wood and duck eggs.... duck eggs! I've been wanting to try them so I'm excited. My tummy doesn't handle fresh chicken eggs well so we will see. My family comes here every year to get our Christmas tree. This is one of my favorite family traditions. They have plenty of animals to look at, wagon rides out to the trees. Plenty of pre-cut trees, as well as live trees that you can choose yourself. Plus free hot chocolate and popcorn. My family likes to walk around and look at all of the animals, then we take the wagon ride out and walk through all of the trees to pick the one we like best. Once we find a tree we flag down one of the workers, and he brings a saw over. We usually have him cut down the tree, but occasionally someone in the family wants to cut it down themselves. There is a cart to take the wagon bake to the front. At the front they measure the tree, and we go inside the warming house to pay. They have free hot chocolate and popcorn inside, as well as all kinds of goodies and snacks available to purchase. At the front the wrap up the tree for you, and secure it to the roof of your car. All in all it's a fun day, and you can do as little or as much of the work yourself as you want to. For city people, this is a fabulous way to spend some time the country. And this is a great family holiday event. read more

Came here despite the reviews and honestly, I don't know what people were looking for. I came here with the fam to cut down a tree, mostly to say we did it (and to post on le gram). That being said, the fruits of the recent drought were apparent and I learned what kinds of trees I actually like. It was special to walk through the aisles looking for a tree with my little guys and the staff was definitely ready to provide us with the tools needed to take one down. However, we didn't find one that suited our taste so we walked back to the pre-cut trees they had for sale. Were picked out a beautiful tree that looksperfect in our home, what more can a city-slicker ask for? This place is NOT in Chicago, and to be honest that's part of the charm. Is it shiny and new? Nope. Was the staff accommodating, knowledgable, and helpful? Yes. I am really hoping to make this place a part of our Christmas tradition. They had a more substantial petting zoo than I had expected, but since I don't have kids it didn't really sway me one way or another. The free hot chocolate on the other hand was a welcome bribe. Everyone that we encountered that worked there was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately that's where the fun ended. Their selection of trees was kid of paltry. I don't know if it was due to the drought we had this year or if it's always like this but......it was depressing. The majority of the trees were about as tall as I am, me being 5'10'' makes that a bad thing. And on top of the trees being short they were one more day of not being watered before turning full on Charlie Brown Christmas. The trees that they had that were actually full and lush were 8ft wide and a bit unwieldy. In the end we didn't cut down a tree but looked at the "pre-cut" trees that looked like they had been shipped in and were bundled for weeks. No to mention the prices were a bit high compared to other tree farms that I had looked at. But this place is considerably closer than most other tree farms. Based on location I may be inclined to try here again next year in hopes of a better crop, but I'll probably not take the gamble and go somewhere with a better track record. read more

I highly advise you to look elsewhere for a Christmas tree! My wife, 17-month-old son, and I went to this farm today to look for the perfect tree and all we found were skimpy little pine trees that looked worse than a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Add to that the fact that the farm is a dump and the animals don't appear to be well kept. We ended up leaving without a Christmas tree and driving all the way back to the city to purchase one from Gethsemane Garden Center. A much better option! read more

We saw this place advertised online to be able to cut your own Christmas tree. How very Normal Rockwell-y. But what a dive! I couldn't believe that this was the place they were advertising. The grounds were absolutely filthy. Junk everywhere. I was shocked. They have quite a few animals that are not accessible to kids even though they picture some as if it is some sort of petting zoo. NOT! Even if they were accessible to the public, I would not let kids near their pens with a ten foot pole because of the conditions. Inside the store, it is better, but there were two parrots there. One was missing all his feathers and the cage was filthy as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. My daughter observed a parent removing his child from the cage are, obviously concerned about the condition. We brought my daughter's service dog along, but when he was approached by an obviously diseased cat, that was the last straw and we decided to leave. We were seriously concerned he may get sick from something there. We drove a half hour to this place. What a disappointment! read more

I gotta say, I've been coming to the tree farm for 6+ years and always had more than happy results with the Christmas trees I have purchased. I also buy firewood at extremely good prices. The quality and the prices here are exceptionally pleasing. In the spring, summer and fall, my 2 daughters love riding on the golf cart and looking at the lively and healthy animals. The fruits and vegetables are wonderful and again, well priced. We even come in on a Saturday or Sunday to enjoy the Mexican restaurant they have in the banquet building. Karen and Chuck are always friendly and helpful. Their knowledge of the business and their customer's needs is astonishing. What an overall great business and family friendly environment. Bought two river birch trees in Spring 2014 and they both died. I came back and the manager tried to charge me even though I was still under the 1 year warranty. Eventually, she agreed to honor the warranty and replace them with two birch trees in Spring 2015. As a show of good faith, I bought a third tree (Crimson maple). Well, Spring 2016 is here and one birch is alive, other birch is near dead and the Crimson is totally dead. I had an arborist come and check all my trees, learned a lot and will not give this company a third chance. Totally regret buying trees from here and will not go back to claim the warranty for the trees. Lost faith! read more

They have a tree to cut down yourself but you have to be driven out there. Nice assortment of pre cut trees but they aren't from their farm. Nice commissary and they do have a Santa Claus for the kids. read more

About 3 weeks ago we went to Anderson Tree Farm and were greeted by a woman named Karen. She was wonderful. She showed us around on her golf cart, talked to us of the history of the farm as it has been in her family since her father purchased it over 50 years ago. She very willingly answered all of our nosey questions about the property as well as our questions about the trees. She was so nice I actually had to tell my husband we had to go as I think he would have talked to her all night. We purchase a very nice river birch tree 12-15' tall at a great price and were very satisfied when we left. Yesterday they brought the tree to plant (the charge for this was also reasonable). Two men came with shovels to plant this tree with a huge root ball that was about 2.5 or 3' across and about 18" deep. I believe one of the men didn't speak English. The other one was rude as rude could be. When I explained how I wanted MY tree planted in MY yard, at MY home he stepped in toward me and began to scream at me to "get in the house". It was so loud and rude it caused my husband to come running from another part of the yard. He told the man not to speak to me that way and that he was at OUR home and that we were the customer. My husband told him to finish planting the tree as I, the customer, had requested and to get out. What a shame. After such a wonderful experience at the purchase they sent such a rude man to my house. I won't go back there to purchase anything that needs to be planted by them. We have a rather new home in a rather new sub and plan on purchasing several trees in the next couple years. Ladies if you are having these people to your home, I recommend your husband be home. Who knows how long he would have been in my face, in my personal space, yelling and screaming if my husband hadn't been there to tell him to stand down. I truly got the impression he had no use or respect for women. Too bad. read more

We've cut trees here a few times. In 2012 things had really gone down hill. I think they are winding down the business. She told us there was a highway going to be built through the center of their property. Lots of old broken down ice cream trucks littered around. Barn was falling down. No more petting zoo. I'm searching for a new place this year. read more

When we went to this place it seemed ok, kind of cluttered and confusing on where to go and who to speak to about cutting down your own tree. The staff was nice that was never an issue, the issue was i feel, false advertisement/information. We were told they had you cut trees and that they had a small selection. when we were taken out to where they said they had trees there was literaly one tree that was even respectable to cut down. the rest were so bare they shouldnt have been allowed to be seen. Again, I understand if there is a shortage and you don't have many trees, but don't say you have a selection when you don't. just sell the precut trees. We also kept our tree watered well and after on month of having the tree half of the needles on the tree fell off...if you touched a branch all the needles came down. we have always had live trees and never experienced such a poor quality of tree that this year. thank goodness the price was cheap because you indeed get what you pay for. very disappointing. read more

My family and I bought a beautiful pre-cut Christmas tree. We had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went inside for free hot chocolate and popcorn and sat by the firepit inside. I love animals so I wandered around to look at the animals, they were all so cute,.
