By Iowa law, 14-year-olds can work part-time. I wouldn't normally have a problem with that, but on more than one occassion it became clear that the boy or girl who was working the cash register was fine working the charge/debit, but did not know how to make change when I paid in cash! In short, don't call it ice cream, price it reasonably, and give the register help a short math test before hiring them.
