We visited for the first time and were impressed with all the flavors, including the special Fall Flavors. Loved the samples too! Wished the shakes were made with the different ice cream varieties though. The decor is fun and the service was great. She was very patient and friendly. There were a few flies that were bothersome inside but definitely plan on returning! read more

Perfect day for ice cream. I'm not normally in Grimes but was today and I Yelp'd a great ice cream place. I'm so glad I did. Cute little shop but amazing selection. It was hard to choose. I did a chunky shake with black raspberry syrup. It was delicious. The prices are very fair and encourage splurging. The service was what you would expect from a small town ice cream shop. With so many options, I may need to find more reasons to visit Grimes. The Cookie Monster ice cream was calling my name. read more

Love this local ice cream shop. You can order inside our the window outside. Service is quick and efficient. Inside decor reminds me of a 50s diner. Variety of ice cream to choose from: soft serve, milk shakes, novelty ice creams, and more. They have expanded their hours and are open later on weekends. read more

This place has amazing and fun flavors you can't find elsewhere, and so many options. The staff is always very friendly and they get through the line very quickly. There is also a good amount of seating outside since the line tends to go into the indoor seating when it's busy. read more

Yummy little ice cream stop in Grimes. LOTS of options for treats, anything from hard serve, to soft serve, to shakes. You'll definitely find something for everyone here. The inside menu can be overwhelming for a first-timer like me, there's so many options. The pictures are handy to help you find what you are looking for. There's a few seating options inside, but you're most likely going to get the ice cream to go or eat it outside. I was pleased with the vast seating options outside. Portions are what you'd expect and treats taste great. I got the Krunch Kote, I don't think I've had anything similar enough to compare it to, but have seen other people get them and was curious to try it myself. The ice cream was truly "koted" with the Krunch. read more

We are enjoying Heavenly Delights this year! I appreciate the upgrade with sorbets on the menu for those with egg and dairy intolerance/allergy!!! Cones are dairy and egg free as well. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon and it was perfect. I hope to see their menu properly labeled for those who seek dairy free options one day. But for now, it's easy to ask what's available. Highly recommend a visit out here as they are loaded with flavors and options now! read more

Try the chocolate amaretto. Try it all, you won't be disappointed! They work hard to get your order out to you as soon as possible.

I have tried a lot of ice cream places and I have to say that Heavenly Delight takes the cake!!! I have been here twice now and love the small town Grimes feeling while standing in line with a bunch of sports teams and families. I have tried the Milky Way, butter brickel and monter cookie flavors. I recommend them all but especially the monster cookie flavored ice cream. Not only do I recommend trying the monster cookie, I would recommend getting a pint of quart as you are going to long for more bites after it's gone!!. I love peanut butter so the thick, continual swirls of peanut butter along with the other monster cookie components have me coming back for more. Thank god for small local businesses like this one that have the customer/fan base to keep them in business. Wherever you are located around the Des Moines area, you have to make the drive it's well worth it! read more

Not surprisingly, this place was packed on a 90 degree night. There were lines at both the walk-up window and inside but the line moved quickly. Some interesting flavors (husband had two scoops of cherry amaretto and I had coconut and bourbon pecan). All were yummy. Although you can pay with credit card, you will be charged extra so bring cash. If you want to earn your ice cream, trails are nearby. We ran a three mile loop on 1st and trails. read more

Open!! 3/31/19!! Tasty!! I had chocolate mint and French silk. I asked to taste the French silk and the waitress was very pleasant! Hubby bummed on no hard pack vanilla, but seriously, who eats VANILLA! . He had chocolate peanut butter and chocolate brownie. I sampled both and the chocolate pb was exceptionally yummy! Scoops are smallish. We had two double dips on sugar cones for $7. Not a bad price to kick off the ice cream season! read more

Our favorite summer spot in Grimes! Delish! My kids (8&10) love the Google eyes they add to their cones. The proportions are huge! Great flavors and a massive variety to choose from! Hands down the best in the area. read more

Another good BW's meal in the rearview mirror. On the way home...Heavenly Delights (Saturday 4/8). Java Chunk and Raspberry Truffle in a waffle bowl. Mmmmmm... So good! Both flavors were excellent. Next time I'd reverse the order. Java on top...Raspberry on the bottom. Follow the more bitter flavor with sweet v. the other way around. The Superman ice cream is next on my list. :) When we were at Heavenly Delight's Heather's shoe came untied. She was laughing about it and said she was so full she didn't think she could bend down to tie it. I didn't even think twice. I set my ice cream down on a nearby table and dropped down on one knee and tied her shoe. From behind me I heard this... "What a nice husband." Heather just laughed and I grinned and popped off that we weren't married. She said "I just wish I had my camera so I could have taken a picture home to show MY husband." I just smiled. We said good night and left a minute or so later. I guess I'm just use to tying kids' shoes at job #2 and Scouts. I didn't think anything about it... It was a simple gesture...and just a bit of being a smartass. ;) Hopefully we all stop now and then to "tie shoes" for our family, friends, and our neighbors. :) Great service once again. We seem to spend between $7 and $8 for two very good ice cream treats when we stop here. read more

Went in with my boyfriend, he got a krunch shake, and i got a banana split. The employee working looked around 17.18, she was rude and seemed irritated when we got there. I understand having a bad day but at least try and be friendly. For me service is a big thing, ended up throwing away the banana split because she overflowed it so much it was basically spilling out of my hands. Boyfriend said his krunch shake was more of a milkshake and had mo toppings. Usually we love if, now not sure if we will be back for a while. read more

Great old fashioned ice cream parlor! Avoid the rush and get there either early afternoon or just before close

What a wonderful shop, HUGE menu with great service makes this place a diamond in the rough. They made us a banana shake with real banana and it was thick and delicious. We also liked that they have mini ice cream sandwiches with their own chocolate chip cookies, $3 for a mini bite was the perfect extra treat. read more

This place seriously has every single type of ice-cream imaginable! I was extremely impressed when I first walked in! While visiting family who live very close, I tried Heavenly Delights for the first time and will definitely be back! They have many ice cream flavors (I really liked the lemon bar flavor). But, they also have so many other types of ice cream, all in one place! You can order cups, cones, dipped cones, concrete/blizzards, milkshakes, popsicles...they have it all! I love how they have different flavors of soft serve ice cream, too, including cookies and cream, heath, reese's, and M&M's. My sister ordered an ice-cream popsicle, called a whopper, that was also really, really good! It was vanilla ice cream with chocolate in the center, dipped in chocolate and peanuts! It was delicious. I know I will definitely be back here again, very very soon! read more

After reading some great things about this place, I decided to drop in on a warm Saturday afternoon. The parking lot was decently full and there were groups sitting outside on the patio. The interior isn't large but it is inviting with low and high tables and a bit of a "retro" look. Two cases full of hard ice cream tubs with an additional list on top of that. They have many choices from a variety of cones to cups to shakes, etc. There was a couple in front of me but once they were served I was quickly tended to. I selected a sugar cone with the Peanut Butter Campfire Crunch. Both were good. This is not a place that makes their own ice cream. I'm pretty sure the tubs are Kemps. So if you're wanting locally made ice cream, you won't find it here from what I could see. But a nice place to stop for ice cream none the less. read more

The have all things I've cream. Small place, eat outside. Eat fast as it melts quickly, a great sign of quality product!

Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. The staff was great. It was very busy place. Not much seating though.

We love to support and visit locally owned places!! We tried this place a month or so ago and the ice cream was really good!! My favorite treat is ice cream and I know the good stuff. I will only indulge occasionally and will pay for the best. Our last visit here was sadly disappointing. The ice cream not as rich, creamy and flavorful as our first trip. I can only think they may have changed kinds? Sorry I wasted the calories on it. read more

Finally someplace that actually serves MALTS instead of just shakes. Best malt ever!

First time this year we stopped at Heavenly Delights for some ice cream. It was just as I remember delicious and reasonably priced. I had a chocolate dipped one with cherry amaretto and bourbon pecan ice cream... I totally recommend them both... If you looking for a short drive the is your place... sometimes the line is long but worth the wait. read more

Thankful Grimes has this cute little ice cream shop! Huge menu and delicious ice cream.

This place is cool to eat soft serve and hard ice cream ,but back when I lived there It was a throne of ice cream!

We drove half an hour to come here, and we were not disappointed! They had a lot of different flavors, but were out of the raspberry truffle. Their ice cream was tasty, but sadly it was not homemade. The guy working there did not know what was in any of the ice creams either. We had the strawberry, the caramel cheesecake, and the French Silk. The strawberry was very good, but tasted artificial. The French silk was delicious! The caramel cheesecake was very good also! It looked like they had a bunch of different shakes and malts, so I will have to try those next time. I recommend this place especially if you are a chocolate and caramel ice cream lover! read more

This is hands down the best ice cream shop ever. It has so many options and it is affordable. The staff is great and mostly high schoolers if you'd like to taste something they don't seem annoyed. It also is great on the inside and themed at an older time and there is even a working jutebox. Never again will I pick up my ice cream from any other locations. Get there fast it closes early November! read more
