Perfect day for ice cream. I'm not normally in Grimes but was today and I Yelp'd a great ice cream place. I'm so glad I did. Cute little shop but amazing selection. It was hard to choose. I did a chunky shake with black raspberry syrup. It was delicious. The prices are very fair and encourage splurging. The service was what you would expect from a small town ice cream shop. I have tried a lot of ice cream places and I have to say that Heavenly Delight takes the cake!!! I have been here twice now and love the small town Grimes feeling while standing in line with a bunch of sports teams and families. I have tried the Milky Way, butter brickel and monter cookie flavors. I recommend them all but especially the monster cookie flavored ice cream. Not only do I recommend trying the monster cookie, I would recommend getting a pint of quart as you are going to long for more bites after it's gone!!. I love peanut butter so the thick, continual swirls of peanut butter along with the other monster cookie components have me coming back for more. Thank god for small local businesses like this one that have the customer/fan base to keep them in business. Not surprisingly, this place was packed on a 90 degree night. There were lines at both the walk-up window and inside but the line moved quickly. Some interesting flavors (husband had two scoops of cherry amaretto and I had coconut and bourbon pecan). All were yummy. Although you can pay with credit card, you will be charged extra so bring cash. If you want to earn your ice cream, trails are nearby. We ran a three mile loop on 1st and trails. read more

Next time I'd reverse the order. Java on top...Raspberry on the bottom. Follow the more bitter flavor with sweet v. the other way around. The Superman ice cream is next on my list. :) When we were at Heavenly Delight's Heather's shoe came untied. She was laughing about it and said she was so full she didn't think she could bend down to tie it. I didn't even think twice. I set my ice cream down on a nearby table and dropped down on one knee and tied her shoe. From behind me I heard this... "What a nice husband." Heather just laughed and I grinned and popped off that we weren't married. She said "I just wish I had my camera so I could have taken a picture home to show MY husband." I just smiled. We said good night and left a minute or so later. I guess I'm just use to tying kids' shoes at job #2 and Scouts. I didn't think anything about it... It was a simple gesture...and just a bit of being a smartass. ;) Hopefully we all stop now and then to "tie shoes" for our family, friends, and our neighbors. :) Great service once again. After reading some great things about this place, I decided to drop in on a warm Saturday afternoon. The parking lot was decently full and there were groups sitting outside on the patio. The interior isn't large but it is inviting with low and high tables and a bit of a "retro" look. Two cases full of hard ice cream tubs with an additional list on top of that. They have many choices from a variety of cones to cups to shakes, etc. There was a couple in front of me but once they were served I was quickly tended to. I selected a sugar cone with the Peanut Butter Campfire Crunch. Both were good. This is not a place that makes their own ice cream. I'm pretty sure the tubs are Kemps. So if you're wanting locally made ice cream, you won't find it here from what I could see. But a nice place to stop for ice cream none the less. read more

We drove half an hour to come here, and we were not disappointed! They had a lot of different flavors, but were out of the raspberry truffle. Their ice cream was tasty, but sadly it was not homemade. The guy working there did not know what was in any of the ice creams either. We had the strawberry, the caramel cheesecake, and the French Silk. The strawberry was very good, but tasted artificial. The French silk was delicious! The caramel cheesecake was very good also! It looked like they had a bunch of different shakes and malts, so I will have to try those next time. This is hands down the best ice cream shop ever. It has so many options and it is affordable. The staff is great and mostly high schoolers if you'd like to taste something they don't seem annoyed. It also is great on the inside and themed at an older time and there is even a working jutebox. Never again will I pick up my ice cream from any other locations.
