Due to an issue with my bite, I kept biting my lip, which caused swelling and scar tissue. It became noticeable when I ate and talked, and it honestly made me shy away from social interactions. I kept putting off seeing an orthodontist, and after this experience, I truly wish I hadn't. My free consultation was better than I could have imagined. From the initial phone intake to the stunning, luxurious office, every single staff member was friendly, caring, and genuinely invested in making me feel comfortable. The entire experience felt thoughtful and personalized, and I walked away feeling fully informed about my care and next steps. Jessica handled my intake and X-rays and made the entire process completely stress-free. She took the time to get to know me as an individual, asked thoughtful questions about my concerns and hopes, and was clearly knowledgeable and capable. Viviana, the practice manager, is truly an angel on earth. She radiates warmth and kindness and clearly loves what she does--it shows in every interaction. I had absolutely no reservations or fear because of her care and reassurance. And Dr. Mina... I don't even have the words. She was honest, compassionate, and incredibly thorough. I never once felt pressured into an expensive or unnecessary treatment. We reviewed my X-rays together, she answered every question, and we came up with a plan that was conservative, affordable, and effective. They also referred me to an oral surgeon to evaluate the scar tissue on my lip to determine whether it would resolve on its own or needed to be addressed. That level of care and foresight truly meant so much to me. I walked in terrified and resigned to the idea that I might need braces. Instead, after discussing my options, I ordered retainers. Viviana did my scans and talked me through everything so I felt completely at ease. They even put in a rush order so I wouldn't have to be uncomfortable any longer than necessary. We have absolutely no complaints. Inside a newer building, the office is clean and nice. The lobby is decorated with D.C. art and photos of willing clients on the wall. I submitted a request on their website, and they responded via email the same day with their availability for the next few days. I *hate* talking on the phone, especially to schedule something, so this was an immediate green flag. Second: they actually use the paperwork you submit in advance! None of this nonsense where you fill out tons of paperwork ahead of your appointment only to be handed a clipboard and asked to do it all over again in person. Third: everybody, from Dr. Romsa to the front desk person, is extremely friendly and personable. The vibe was kind of like I was hanging out with new friends who just so happen to work in orthodontics. The office itself is very modern and bright, while still being warm and welcoming. Fourth: they were very timely. Despite the fact that there were several other people there when I arrived for my 9:00 appointment, I was taken care of right away, and was never left sitting alone waiting on the next step. Fifth: great website with very clear instructions on how to find them. Street parking in the area can be hit-or-miss, but the Trader Joe's garage is a good, reliable option. Sixth: I went in expecting to replace a broken bottom retainer - one of the old school pink-and-wire ones from (literally) 2005 - because a little piece of the plastic had chipped off the back. After seeing that it still fit and served its purpose, Dr. Romsa offered to just polish the broken edge to make it comfortable, and sent me on my way! With a new retainer case to boot! No making me a new retainer I didn't need. No upselling me on what I am sure is cooler, newer retainer technology. No pointing out any imperfections that have cropped up since I got my braces off almost two decades ago. All around just a fantastic experience. My only regret is that I may not ever have a reason to go back. But if something does come up, I know exactly where I'll go!

Dr Kadily was fast and friendly. She recommended I get a filling re-done at the branch where I initially got it, but I might get a second opinion elsewhere based on the other reviews I've seen. These types of practices can leave you feeling a bit confused because no one has time to really talk with you due to so many patients. Dr Sheferrman, even though I only saw him for a consultation and not treatment, doesn't have that style of a practice. The others are not bad, it just depends on your patient-style as to what you prefer in an orthodontist. Adult patients normally are more interactive than child patients and Dr Shefferman has a majority of adults.

However, when I did go, the staff were so accommodating with my schedule and let me know when openings were available if someone cancelled last minute. Fortunately I lived in walking distance from the clinic so the convenience was a major factor. Although if you do not live close by, you have to find parking in the neighborhood I believe, unless there is a parking lot in the back - not 100% sure. I've had wonderful hygienists every time I've gone there and Dr. Samaddar is incredibly nice. However, every time I've gone she always suggests getting Invisalign, which based on conversations with a few of my dentist friends, is always something many dentists say to gain profit for their clinic (and Invisalign is not covered by insurance FYI). And sure - prevention is important. Giving SCSC the benefit of the doubt, one of the hygienists there was so thorough, and she was educational and suggested several ways I can maintain my teeth - I wish I remembered her name but kudos to her! All in all I would recommend this place only IF your insurance is in fact IN NETWORK!

The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They'll never rush you out the door or off the phone, even when they're packed. Every time I visit or call to make an appointment I have a fun chat with Sagan, and these folks always remember little details about my life the next time we talk. (They even noticed when I got a new haircut!) I've never had a medical team treat me so much like they really cared about me personally. This is probably why the waiting room always feels like such a pleasant place--even the fellow patients are friendly and chatty. These folks have worked with me with through three different insurance plans without any problems. You can also opt to be reminded of appointments via text, which is endlessly helpful for me. They're quick to reply to emails and scheduling is always super painless. Dr. Bruk is skilled, charismatic, and highly emotionally intelligent. He always explains things clearly and makes every effort to ensure his patients are relaxed and comfortable (even going so far as to change the music from jazz to Enya for me once during an extraction, ha).
