1st ever visit. It's good, I liked the fried fish. Though it ain't earth shaking good. I make an unfair comparison to the 100's of extraodinary fish and chips plates that I've eaten in the United Kingdom. This one pales. The battered haddock here is moist and tasty. No off aromas. Not too oily. The krinkle cut previously frozen french fries are mediocre. Barely crispy outside and just flavorless mush inside. Really wish the owners would purchase a better brand of fries. Dining room is basic. Dated and well worn. Many gallon boxess of the peanut deep fryer oil is stacked right by the front counter. Place appearance would benefit with input from an interior designer or just someone who likes to clear out clutter. The 3 peices of fish with the fries costs $18.50. Sure, it's cheap eats. But for that small amount of money I can steer you to several local Japanese restaurants where a dellcious & healthier bento box lunch can be had. 3/2/2026: Anchors Fish & Chips--I ordered the seafood combo and lemonade. Whoa~The chef gave me so much delectably HOT, perfectly crunchy, seafood combo, it literally took me three days inhaling everything! Thank you so very much~I'll make a point visiting Anchors Fish & Chips more often.

First time visit for lunch. Place was pretty busy with in house diners and several big pick up orders. Dining room looks like it is straight out of the 60's diner era. Nothing to write home about. We shared the 3 piece fish and chips as I have a pretty small appetite these days. While the fish was tasty, it was very thin. The batter was super crunchy and pretty delicious. The french fries (chips) were horrible, bland and flavorless. After eating fish and chips in the UK, its hard to find a good place in the states. Oh well, for the price it is pretty good value.

The reviews for this place were decent so I wanted to give it a try. We frequent this shopping area often and have been craving some fish and chips. While the service is lovely and Mimi is a sweetheart, and the ambience is retro fun, the food just didn't do it for us. Everything was kinda one note. Everything was hot and fresh. The tartar and ranch are pretty good. The fish, the fries, the fried zucchini, and chicken all just tasted oil. No flavor really. The hush puppies were decent and the o my thing that had any flavor, but 5 tiny hush puppies for $4.50 kind of blew my mind. I was expecting big hush puppies and more (see pic for tiny hush puppies) We had to heavily salt everything. We spent $47 for two people. Not terrible but I wouldn't go back when there are so many other options.

3 - piece meal

Great fish n chips! This was our first time visiting, and the staff made us feel right at home with their warm, friendly service. We got the 3-piece fish n chips meal, which was plenty to share between two people. The batter was crispy and light, with a tasty tartar sauce on the side. Can't wait to come back and try the clam chowder next time!

Yucky fries (and they seem to have switched to these frozen crinkle cut lately)

This is fish & chips Russian roulette. If the guy is at the register, walk out and don't bother ordering. This place is either 1 star or 3 star depending on who is working. When the woman (Mimi?) is in charge, the fish & chips are nice and crispy and flavorful. When the guy is in charge, it's probably the worst fish & chips in the country. I tried again today and got unlucky because that guy was running it. Terribly gross floppy and completely unseasoned (also very lightly battered) greasy fish I had to fight to convince myself to swallow, The fries were oddly simultaneously grossly overcooked yet still mushy (including a picture of the fries for reference/horror). It's like he doesn't salt anything and cooks at the wrong (maybe too low?) temperature. He's also an utterly joyless and morose individual, in contrast to Mimi who is friendly.

Over-fried and dried out... no longer edible food :(
Margot R.

Normally the food is pretty good, but the most recent time we came it was not. The fish was okay but a little dried out in spots. But the fries were absolutely terrible. It was like the oil was old and they fries were dry and burnt tasting. I'll add photos to better explain. I've never had fries that bad in my life and I'm surprised they allowed them to be sold. I could tell just by looking at them that something was wrong because they were dark and the texture was strange and over-fried. So we're disappointed. I currently give them 3 stars because before this, our experiences were decent. But I'm turned off from returning.

Love this place! I don't know if there's another place close to me, but I'm not mad since I'd probably still go here anyway! The food is good, always piping hot and crispy fries!!! Order ahead if you can, otherwise it can take a bit. It's a typical diner style restaurant, pretty clean, and the lady at the front is always nice!

Kids fish & chips with a side of Cole slaw and a fish & chips plate

It's a little tiny hole in the wall that I've passed over hundreds of times, but now I see why people love it. Friendly and accommodating staff with yummy bites. I asked if I could order off of the kids menu because I wasn't all that hungry: it was an immediate yes. The food hit the table fairly quickly and everything was on point. The restaurant was clean, the service was great...definitely worth checking out!

1 pc fish and chips

All is delicious and very reasonable. Fresh and hot. The 1 piece dinner is huge. They're always nice and fast. Fresh oil always so taste is great!!

Genevieve K.

As someone who has a food sensitivity to garlic/onion/dairy, I really appreciate how fresh/simple the fried fish is here. The fish is never fishy and the batter is always crispy and not overseasoned which I appreciate since I have a sensitive tummy. The fries are nothing special - krinkle cut and bland, but I don't mind because I'm here for the fish at the end of the day.

Takeout order--6 piece fish & chips, side orders of prawns & hush puppies. Came with tartar sauce, vinegar, & cocktail sauce.
Alma S.

Overall it was good, 3.5 stars. We got takeout for a weeknight dinner--6 piece fish & chips, side order of prawns, & side order of hush puppies. It came with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, vinegar, & ketchup packets. Ordering was easy over the phone & customer service was friendly at pick up. Food was packed well. The fish was moist inside & had a crispy batter. The fries were disappointingly meh--bland & too soft. The prawns were perfectly tender. The hush puppies were flavorful with a soft inside and a great crunchy outside, but they were pretty small. The sauces were fine, but I wanted more of a flavor punch, like more horseradish in the cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce (which we got an ample amount of) was uniquely smooth versus having relish pieces mixed in.

I was a little confused at first trying to find the location, only to realize it's actually attached to the mall -- but once inside, the ambiance made up for it. The food was delicious: I had the fried chicken, my aunt had the Cajun pasta, and both my mom and other aunt ordered the meatloaf. They really enjoyed it! They mentioned the banana pudding could use a bit of improvement, but overall everything was tasty and satisfying. While sitting at the bar, we ended up talking to a mother-and-son duo who were regulars. They had nothing but positive things to say about the restaurant, which was nice to hear and matched our own experience. Great vibes, good food, and a memorable evening for my mom's milestone birthday. Keep up the good work!

The Galleria is currently doing a major renovation in that section. The restaurant decor is cozy, classy and beautiful, and the hostess was very welcoming. They won't seat guests in the private dining room if less than seven people are in attendance. When we arrived, we were only six so we had to wait in the lobby until the rest of our party arrived. Once all arrived, we were seated in the private room. Our server was Myles. He was very kind, made some recommendations and asked if we had any questions. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. The waiting time to order was slow, but we were patient. Family ordered various entrees, with some taking much longer to arrive at the table. If you order the seafood platter, be forewarned as it is humongous! We ordered two of these for each side of the room and thank goodness we were able to finish it all! Everyone was satisfied with their meals and desserts. I ordered a Caesar salad, but found bits of old brown lettuce in it which I had to pick off. My entree was fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was very tender, but the outer crust fell apart when you bit into it and was a bit salty for my liking. All in all, we had a nice time and thanks to Myles for the wonderful service!

Our server greeted us right away and was very sweet and attentive. You could tell she was still in training, but everything went smoothly. The only small thing I would suggest is having more napkins at the table, since we were only given one per plate and ended up needing a few more during the meal. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. The tempura was light and crispy, and the unagi was savory and satisfying with egg ribbons in the rice. I think it might be one of the best bento boxes I've had in a long time. Overall, we had a great experience at Azayaka Japanese Fusion. The food was delicious, the service was warm, and we would definitely come back to try more dishes.

First, I want to say the chef was younger, but he put alot of care and effort into each dish, so he should definitely be acknowledged. However, as soon as we walked in, there was no greeting from both of the female servers, only cold stares. Many servers do not give great service to younger tables and assume they won't tip. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. Also, as a recent graduate, I brought my cap to receive a $15 gift card for their promotion. Instead, she gave a "neighborhood" discount (10% off which made it $10 off). I didn't mention anything since I did not feel like coming back to this location. Then I looked at the receipt, wrote a 20% tip, but this was where I felt scammed. It's difficult to explain and I wish I took a picture, but please check your math on the suggested tip. Total with discount: $98 Previous Total: $108 Suggested Tip: 20% = $20 and Suggested Total: $128 I don't mind tipping $20, but the suggested total would include a $30 tip? I don't know if it's intentional and the server wanted to pocket the discount as her tip, but it did not feel fair. We had two younger kids with us and I didn't want them to notice, so we just left after paying. We been to the Sacramento location many times, but their Roseville location was disappointing. Horrible service.

Right when you walk in, everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was also so friendly, and our food came out FAST and piping hot! In our past experiences at other crab boil restaurants, it can take forever just to get a table, let alone get your food. So we really appreciated how quickly everything came out here! Now, THE FOOD! My hubby and I both got the Dungeness crab with the mild Cajun & garlic butter seasoning. It came with potatoes and corn, and we also added a side of rice and the Cajun fries. The seasoning was SO good! It had plenty of flavor without being overly salty. The crab was delicious and cooked perfectly. And those Cajun fries?! They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection! The only thing I would have changed was that we weren't given any crab crackers or tools to help us get into the crab. We actually thought they didn't have any at first. We later asked and were provided with some, but it would have been nice if they were offered or brought out with our gloves and bibs since we ordered crab. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience! I especially loved that the restaurant has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to some other crab boil spots. The seats were comfortable, the music wasn't extremely loud, and it still had a fun vibe while being quiet enough for us to actually have a conversation. Overall, I'm giving Captain Crab a 10/10!
