This could be a myth, but I'd like to think this anecdote correctly identifies the main focal point of this exemplary little shoppe. This place is: Clean Well stocked Eclectic If you love wine and spirits, this place will not disappoint. Forgive my ignorance, but I didn't know there were so many varieties of gin. (See picture) If you're looking for beer, this place can suffice, but may leave you desiring more, especially if you've ever been to La Bodega. The wine selection included a variety of wine my friend said he usually cannot find anywhere else. I believe they also do a wine club of some sort. While I was perusing, people were coming in and picking up wine and choosing from specific sections. I'd bet this is worth asking about if you're a wine connoisseur.

The shop is very clean, has a modern and simplistic floor design that is welcoming and nice to walk through. COVID is long gone, no one is wearing masks, but this policy remains. All I can think of is that it's some sort of anti-homeless-people initiative or some other way to keep "unsavory" people out of the store. They still are the best place for the best ethanol-containing beverages and it's their store, they can do whatever they want, I just have no idea why they are adding additional friction to the shopping experience. One other thing: no more chilled cans of wine, you'll have to go to Brown Jug for that now. Why? I have no idea. Canned wine probably has 10X the demand as Sake and...that ethanol containing beverage has a massive cooler dedicated to it.

Gold Rush liquor has been purchased by the parent company that also owns Brown Jug. As a result,…read moretheir bush order department no longer exists. Instead of continuing to monitor the old bush orders email address and notifying customers of this change, they allowed it to become an email black hole. After my second order attempt in months, I called them only to be told by a Brown Jug employee that "Gold Rush was supposed to notify their customers". Further, although it seemed like they were able to get into the email account after that, and I sent updated copies of my license and liquor permit, they apparently lack the capability to provide a pre-shipping subtotal... either that, or they just decided my request was unreasonable and they don't want to do business with me any more. I might never find out; they still haven't called me back, and I'd sooner order from someone else. Problem is, it looks like Liquor Stores USA North is attempting to buy up all the liquor stores in Anchorage, so you'll soon not have a choice but to put up with their bullshit.

Clearly labeled sections make finding your spirit of choice a breeze and the low shelves makes finding people even easier. My friends split up upon entering but keeping track of each other was simple enough. And the selection! Wow. I saw alcohol here that I can't find anywhere. I immediately regretted not having more time in Anchorage for surely I'd pick up more. Everyone was so friendly here too! Employees were polite but not over bearing. The only downside is the price. We were on a hunt so we went here and then immediately to other stores. We were surprised to find identical product (same brand, type, size) $10 cheaper elsewhere. For the hard to find stuff Gold Rush is the spot, but for everything else there's cheaper elsewhere.

I can't say enough good things about the brewery…read more I absolutely love their beers. The owner does a really good job creating local ingredients. And working with the community. I have absolutely enjoyed every time. I have come in and love getting their sour starter pack of bottles. It's a great variety of what they have to offer with some of their greats! The high bush cranberry that they have currently is just fantastic. I know that they just came out with a white stout which they do every year and it's delicious. I haven't had this year but I can tell you from years previously it's one of the best beers of the winter. The place is clean and well kept with a beautiful sitting area upstairs and some fantastic chairs downstairs great place to come sit hang out and enjoy yourself. Did you get food trucks from time to time. Honestly, just talking with the owner makes me so happy and going to any of the events that they have to offer is such a learning experience. They kept not coming up in the IG search results...weird. I initially was worried they went out of business because it said their IG page was down. I warned the birthday girl that maybe that had suddenly closed and joked "unless I'm blocked, lol" to which she replied "they blocked you!" So weird and so sad. Never in my 267 brewery reviews on Yelp has a brewery blocked me from their IG. (that I know of, lol) My only interactions with them on IG are to re-share their reels so my friends know what beers they have on tap or what food truck is out front. I guess if I had to guess it would be that my 3-star review about their being the only brewery in Anchorage that doesn't allow you to taste their beer first must've struck such a nerve that they researched to find what IG account is connected to my Yelp account, and then blocked me. Really disappointing, I always thought the owner/brewer seemed cool but I guess he has thin skin. Their Anchorage-style Pilsner is still one of the best beers in town, hopefully I'll get a pint tonight. Last night I had a west coast IPA and a Cold IPA. Both were good. The fact that you have 3 different IPAs on tap combined with a 3 drink limit by the state of Alaska...really speaks to why tastes are helpful. Still the worst name of any brewery. It sounds like a Temu beer kit that makes murky booze your friends pretend to like.
