Called the "24/7" number 30 times (literally) and called the cops since there was not a reply and we needed to determine if the car was stolen or towed. Finally got a response after an hour of calling while we were at the police station. Had to wait until 8am to retrieve our car. When we tried to explain the circumstances, he threw a tantrum and said "he is not doing this with us" after 15 seconds into the conversation. Would not release our car because we said we were going to call manager to dispute charges based on signage (he said the signage was not updated). Made us pay in cash because he feared we would dispute credit card charges. Very unprofessional service in all regards. Cops said they have terrible service and our complaints were quite common. Cops handled us wonderfully. True professionals.

I pay monthly to park there My car was legally parked and…read morewas wrongfully towed without any clear reason or warning. There were no visible signs indicating I was in violation of any parking rules, and yet I came back to find my vehicle gone -- with no explanation. This kind of towing is not just inconvenient, it's exploitative. I was forced to pay a large fee to retrieve my car, and no one took responsibility for the mistake. The entire process felt like a scam designed to take advantage of unsuspecting drivers. There was zero transparency, no accountability, and no regard for how this impacts people financially or emotionally. Whether this was the fault of the towing company or poor communication from the property owner, it's unacceptable. If this happened to you, don't stay silent and report it and warn others. Predatory towing needs to be exposed and stopped.

The reason I don't like these types of platforms are because they are full of reviews from people…read morethat just do not seem reasonable. The towing business first of all is likely a very tough business to receive positive reviews. When a vehicle is towed it's likely because of 3 primary scenarios (an accident where the car is not able to be driven, a broken down vehicle, or a vehicle parked in a no parking spot.) Either of the listed scenarios are starting off with unhappy automobile owners so reviews are likely going to be positive. With all that said, I have recently had a car that was in a pretty bad accident...thankfully no one was injured by the grace of God! The Crystal Lake police officer was pretty awesome on her own and we are always thankful to our police! The officer called Ormsby Towing, owned by Tom Ormsby I have come to find out. This company has been in business since 1948! That's 76 years of being in business. They have countless of satisfied customers and reviews...some of these can be found on the following websites: Kelly Blue Book Reviews: https://www.kbb.com/dealers/crystal-lake-il/565567/ormsby-motors/ Google Reviews: https://www.google.com/search?q=ormsby+motors+google+reviews&sca_esv=d3224e15adc24c7c&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS964US964&sxsrf=ADLYWIIaMKPhzRO7qKgE1J066ijY6pgm2Q%3A1724345334727&ei=9mvHZrWULLS2ptQP3t6aCQ&ved=0ahUKEwi155X5homIAxU0m4kEHV6vJgEQ4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=ormsby+motors+google+reviews&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiHG9ybXNieSBtb3RvcnMgZ29vZ2xlIHJldmlld3MyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBDIIEAAYgAQYogQyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBEjMFlDrBVjsEnABeACQAQCYAWygAbIFqgEDNy4xuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIIoAKGBcICChAAGLADGNYEGEfCAgoQIxiABBgnGIoFwgIIEAAYogQYiQXCAggQIRigARjDBMICChAhGKABGMMEGAqYAwCIBgGQBgKSBwM3LjGgB4YS&sclient=gws-wiz-serp Okay, so with all these reviews averaging over 4 out of 5 stars, Yelp is for some reason is representing a little over 2 stars. My personal experience has been very favorable. BTW, I should mention, I have no ties or relations to the owner or management, or any employee of Ormsby's. I can tell you this, I was treated kindly by Tom Ormsby and he is fair and patient. He also could have easily charged my by the day that our totalled car was in his storage (locked, fully enclosed building). The car was kept safe and he was very nice to work with. I will absolutely be recommending his services to others I know and care about as well as, perhaps even purchase a car from him in the near future. You don't stay in business in the midwest for 78 years without offering something of value. Lastly, the Ormsby showroom is so clean that you literally could eat off the floor, even though I don't eat off of floors :-) I hope this review adds value to anyone looking for a towing or auto sales company.

YIKES I really never…read morepost reviews, but I feel like I HAVE to so that people know what they're getting into with this shop... Back in August my car got some body damage and was brought to ABRA Auto Body right by this shop. Well, it's alternator also decided to go out on me, so once the body shop fixed the body damage they graciously brought it to Ormsby since it was close (I live 2 hours away from Crystal Lake and was visiting my family when this all happened, so I wasn't nearby). Needless to say we got the alternator replaced and all went well. UNTIL about a month or 2 later when it started having problems again. We assumed the car was having new problems and just didn't have time to bring it to get checked out, so we replaced the battery... and that helped but didn't solve any of our problems. So we then brought it to a shop local to us and guess what? The alternator that this shop put into it was bad... so here we are, having to put another alternator into our car a few months later because Ormsby decided what our car needed was a bad alternator. So keep this in mind if you plan on going here... months down the line you may have to redo what you paid them to do...

Tried to go there today with the new owners for a LOF/rotate as a called in waiter appointment at 8:00AM when they open. Worker drives in and unlocks doors at 7:52AM, I wait until 8:00 to go in. I immediately notice, in my opinion, that the shop is just a shambles. Look, car repair shops aren't going to be a pristine environment. This was an absolute hellhole compared to how Nedza usually was. Piles of OilDri, torn hunks of cardboard packaging everywhere on the floor, and piles on various used parts strewn about. Motorcycle parked so you couldn't get to the waiting area. There are three lift bays for cars, one being a drive up/on. My service would need a non-drive up/on. Those two are in use. So, they aren't ready for my appointment. The poor worker hears us come in, and immediately is calling on his phone, and hands his phone to us on speaker to chat with someone named Luis/something/didn't get a good look at it. I have no problem with anyone being employed anywhere, but this poor man can't communicate with me. "Whatcha need?" (WTF is this question?) "I had an appointment at 8 for a LOF/rotate." "Oh yeah. I am out doing a test drive on a car right now. Be there in a bit. Just give your car keys to him." (He took the car home with him to test drive?) Feeling uneasy, I give my keys to the worker guy. Walk outside and then in the outside door to the waiting room. Decide that with a repair shop floor that looks that bad compared to the years that I have been a customer that I don't want them touching my car, I go back in, ask for my keys back and leave.
