Of all the dive stores is the Greater Vancouver, this is one of the two that we use the most (the…read moreother one being much closer to home). The reason is the EXCELLENT customer service. We deal primarily with George and, if we have had any problems (eg a camera malfunctioning or a travel bag's wheels breaking) he has taken the item back immediately. Often they will replace the item or offer a store credit even before checking with the manufacturer if the return is ok. For this reason, we return again and again to purchase more equipment. They have a good selection of everything: wetsuits, drysuits with undergarments, and some novelty sale items from time to time including wetsuits or lightweight neon tropical BCDs. Their regular selection is standard-priced. They sell Mares rather than Scubapro and we bought some new fins, Volo Power, which are lightweight and easy to use at the suggestion of George, and have been pleased with them. Good selection of accessories as well. Dive and Sea also offers instruction, with open-water dives at Whytecliff in West Van, EFR training etc. Although the staff will make suggestions, I have never felt here as if I'm getting a "hard sell". It's a comfortable store and we always look forward to going there, even just to have a look around. (Dive stores are like candy stores, hard to leave without buying something!) To get to this place, you must be heading North on McBride as it's impossible to make a left turn heading south.

He was friendly, knowledgeable, so informative. He would never sell you anything you didn't need. He set us up with some great gear to travel with. Never did we ever feel pressured to buy. He listens your diving experiences and recommends appropriate equipment. Don't buy anywhere else, they are the best.

Full disclosure - this is more about the people than any shop, as I worked with some folks at…read moreArgonaut Diving through a different location. That said - the education was fantastic, the information was presented in multiple ways to make sure that everyone understood, there was no guilt in taking more time on specific things if needed, and once a true understanding was shown, they were happy to stop spending unnecessary time on it. It's clear that there is a STRONG inclination toward safety, and they do something abnormal by ensuring that it doesn't get in the way of also creating a welcoming atmosphere.

This summer I was lucky enough to spend ten days with a group of Argonaut divers on a liveaboard in…read moreBelize, and while there I completed Advanced Adventure Diver certification with instructor Kaitlin. I'd been open water certified for over a decade, but I had never truly gotten into diving and previously only had a dozen or so dives under my belt. Kaitlin was extremely thorough; she made sure I understood not only what I should be doing but also the why. She provided important constructive feedback after dives to make sure I continued to build my skills and gained confidence. Pro tip - she also made sure I brought reef safe leave-in conditioner with me so that my long hair didn't turn to straw from all the salt water. By the end of the course and entire experience, I felt so much more comfortable underwater. As a bonus, with me on almost every dive were multiple Argonaut instructors: Fred, Erika, Nik, and Nidhi. Everyone was kind and helpful, made sure I adopted best practices while having fun. I cannot recommend Argonaut Diving enough. I don't believe I would have experienced the same high level education with any other instructor group.
