My hair stayed healthy throughout the process. It looks and feels amazing! As a stay-at-home mom, I don't get much time to myself, so this appointment was exactly the pampering I had been dreaming of. Thank you, Steven and all the sweet ladies who also worked on my hair!! I swear I can walk in with the most random inspiration photo or say, "I want this exact shade of red," and somehow he and his team make it even better than I imagined. Every. Single. Time. I've never left disappointed, and that's saying a lot because I'm VERY picky about my reds. They always turn out rich, vibrant, dimensional, and they stay looking amazing. The entire salon has such a fun, welcoming vibe. His team is full of the sweetest, most talented women who are always so encouraging and excited about whatever color idea I bring in. Not once have I been talked out of something or made to feel silly for wanting to try a new look. Instead, they hype me up, make recommendations, and somehow bring my vision to life while keeping my hair healthy. One thing that has meant so much to me is that I'm active duty military, so my hair has to stay within regulations. He has always been incredibly knowledgeable about what will and won't work, and he makes sure my color is beautiful while still keeping me in regs. He has even offered to recolor my hair free of charge if it ever ended up outside military standards, which, for the record, has literally NEVER happened because he absolutely nails it every time. If you're thinking about booking, just do it. Whether you want subtle, bold, vibrant, or something completely unique, this is the place to go. The talent, the kindness, the professionalism, and the overall experience are honestly unmatched. I can't recommend him and his amazing team enough.

From the very beginning, we shared a few laughs, and she gave the most incredible head massage. It set such a relaxing, positive tone for the entire experience, and I already felt so cared for before we even started the cut. As soon as she began working on my hair, I could tell I was in amazing hands. The techniques she used showed such skill and intention--I could actually see the vision coming together, which gave me so much confidence and trust in her. That meant a lot to me. When she asked to style my hair at the end, I was genuinely impressed by how much she cared about every detail. I absolutely loved how my hair turned out, and I felt so good walking out of the salon. Beyond her talent, I'm truly grateful for how comfortable and welcomed she made me feel. The conversation flowed so naturally, and the whole atmosphere was warm and inviting. As a first-time client, that meant everything to me. You can also tell she uses high-quality products, which I really appreciate. Kortnie truly went above and beyond with my haircut. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted, then elevated it into something even better than I imagined. She was incredibly thoughtful and detail-oriented, making sure the length was exactly right to bring everything together perfectly. I felt like she genuinely cared about getting it just right for me. On top of all that, she's kind, warm, and a true professional. I'm honestly so thankful I found her. If you're looking for someone who not only knows hair but truly listens and cares about your experience, Kortnie is absolutely the person to go to. Thank you so much, Kortnie! Solara is located on the middle level of the Del Mar Plaza - with an attached parking garage so there's no need to fight for street parking. Bonus - parking is validated at the salon. My husband actually started seeing Tracy for his haircuts before I came in, and he had glowing reviews. Soon after, I made my first appointment and there was no turning back. Tracy took the time to really understand what I was looking for and my overall goals for my hair and hair care routine. One of the most important steps which is often overlooked by stylists is letting the client know if their expectations are realistic, healthy for your hair and the maintenance in keeping up your preferred style - Tracy didn't skip a beat and I knew from the jump what my upkeep needed to be. We have since built a relationship where she just knows what I'm looking for and I trust that my hair is going to look amazing. And it's the perfect blonde! Looking to make a change and find a new stylist / salon - I can't recommend Tracy and the ladies at Solara Salon enough! You'll walk out feeling like a million bucks!

I'm not one to leave negative reviews but I feel inclined to share my experience here. I got a cut…read moreand color from Katee and while the color was fine (though not much different than what I started with), I am very unhappy with the cut. I have long hair and always get a subtle cut with long layers which I emphasized to her prior to any cut being done. Truly not a crazy or difficult request. I told her that my hair needs to be long enough to all fit into a ponytail or top knot bun and she said yes definitely. Thinking back now she never asked me how short I wanted the layers to be at their shortest, which every stylist has always asked in the past. Regardless, the subtle haircut I wanted ended up as more of a chop with a weird section of blunt short layers in the front that look truly awful. They do not blend well and are too short to stay in a ponytail when pulled back. I gave it a couple weeks to see if things would even out after the freshness of the cut wore off, but it still looks just as bad and I'm devastated knowing it'll take so long for these pieces to grow back. She told me that she guarantees her work but she can't make my hair grow back and I'm not trying to cut more.. I expected more from a senior stylist with senior stylist level prices. $420 later for a cut I'm unhappy with and color that looks about the same as before. And minus another $18 for parking because she did not validate my card correctly I guess and I had to pay. The vibe of the salon is fine, the people who work there seem to be nice, but I would not recommend this stylist. One other issue I had was that I booked for a cut and partial balayage to stick within a budget I was comfortable with. Katee ended up doing a full balayage and charging me accordingly (appropriately so)- but the issue is that before rendering the service she did not ask for approval (or even tell me) that she was going to do full instead which lacked professional transparency in the context of such an expensive service. Note: the photos emphasize the cut but the color is not true to life due to the indoor lighting where I took the pics.
