Everything about this place makes my heart smile, sincerely. I moved to San Diego about 3 years ago and have tried many hairstylists. (I must preface this next part that I have family members who are in the industry, but just live too far for me to return to on a regular basis) Many of the stylists I tried were, non responsive, way overpriced and not very educated in their field. I tried to use yelp to find the best and many would not even return my calls. Fast forward to this past week. I thought I would give yelp one last ditch effort and chose to call Capsyl. It was a Wednesday evening- after closing time, so I did not expect a call back until the next day. It wasn't even 5 minutes later that my phone rang and I spoke with Kelly. She told me that Rebecca just received a cancellation and could get me in on Friday morning. To say I was stunned is an understatement. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. Once in Rebecca's chair, I could tell she "got me". She listened to my ideas, looked at the photos I brought in and chatted with me about her thoughts. Then she got straight to work. This was my first time at the salon and I loved it. It is so open and bright! Love the colorful fun decor! They use Davines products which I love! I cannot say enough good things about Kortnie! From start to finish, my experience was amazing. I came in for a partial highlight/blonding session, and a haircut--and she absolutely nailed every part of it. Kortnie took the time to really listen to what I wanted, and then used her expertise to elevate it beyond my expectations. So this beautiful little salon is right down the block from where I live. I gave it a try since I could walk there. What a great experience! Rebecca, cut my daughter's hair, styled it, and also cut my hair. She was thoughtful, informative, gave my daughter and i a lot of tips for our hair. I love the products they use, which is an Italian based product which is natural and smells great. They even have hair color that is made for sensitivity to PPD and I will try that next time instead of doing my own coloring at home. Linda is the best hair stylist I have ever gone to, and I will never go to someone else! She saved my hair, she is so kind and professional. She let me come in for a consultation on her day off, and she completely transformed my hair, and ever since, I've gone to her for all of my hair needs. She recommends the best products, and gives great advise overall. The salon is GORGEOUS, it is so aesthetically pleasing, and so trendy! The decor s absolutely fabulous and unique. The salon itself is hidden above flower hill mall, it is a cute location with a beautiful view. I believe Linda specializes in balayage, but I've gone light and dark with her and she goes above and beyond. If you show her a reference picture, she can follow it exactly. She is also very honest about her opinion on hair, which is amazing. I wanted to go even darker but with her help, we found a happy medium that allowed my hair to stay healthy and low maintenance. Once again, I "cheated" on Kelly and was going elsewhere to get my hair done. But as was inevitable, I have once again come back to her to fix the damages. If she's so great, why do I keep straying away, you may ask? Bc this girl is not cheap! Haha but you really get what you pay for with her. She has a lot of experience under her belt, she really knows what she's doing, but most importantly, she will also tell you if she won't be able to give you exactly what you want. I love her honesty and her work ethic and at this point, I trust her completely with my hair. Also, she uses really good quality products to boot. This time, I came to her with a whole head of orange hair, which was definitely NOT what I asked for from another hairstylist. After Kelly and I talked it out, we figured out a game plan and she went to work. I honestly was not expecting it to look as good as it did after just one appointment. But that's Kelly for you. She always delivers. I mean, it's going to be a bit of a journey to get exactly what I want and keep my hair decently healthy, but I got better results than I had expected, so of course I'm happy. She also has an assistant, Vanessa, who was really sweet and personable and she was great at taking care of my hair. Oh, and I heard she's amazing at blow outs. read more
