I have seen Deena a few times for a cut, root touchup and blonde highlights. I had always been put off by the fact that Deena over schedules herself and never put in the time and attention that my hair needed. II always felt rushed here. The last appointment I had with Deena was the worst. I never felt as though she listened to what I wanted and was always distracted. She even had the receptionist finish up my root color so she could start another client. The last time I went in was in December for a keratin treatment and a cut. During the long process of blow drying the keratin into my hair, I found myself dodging the blow dryer as it was on very high heat and burning me. I ended up with a blow dryer burn on my forehead that blistered. After the keratin treatment I showed her a picture of the haircut I wanted. It was a chin length bob THAT DID NOT GO UP IN THE BACK. Of course she was rushed so she had the receptionist finish blow drying my hair. I was not offered a mirror and didn't know how bad the back of my hair was chopped up until I got home. My daughter was shocked. She said it was completely uneven. I was crushed when I saw the back of my hair. It was absolutely nothing like the picture I showed her. I also wear my hair straight which Deena should know by now and I have a bit of wave in the back of my hair which she should also have known. The cut she gave in the back emphasized the wave and was impossible to straighten because it was so short. I called the salon the next day with two major complaints: 1. Deena did not give me the haircut I showed her, she cut the hair in the back way too short and very uneven. 2. I had a painful burn blister on my forehead from Deena blow drying my hair. I came in a few days later to see how we could resolve this. Although it took a while, Deena admitted that the back was much shorter than the picture I showed her. She said she could try to "blend" the back so it wouldn't look so uneven. I decided not to take my chances. She saw the blister on my forehead and acknowledged that she did burn me with the blow dryer. Deena's way to resolve this was to give me a few more highlights in the front for free. That resolution didn't work for me. I was so angry that I spent $500 on a keratin treatment and a crappy haircut. The appropriate resolution would have been to refund my haircut. read more

Anna, was my stylist and she transformed me from a grown out balayaged blonde to a more classic rich chocolate brunette. Its always a good time when you can have fun and talk with your stylist so the session didn't seem long at all. She gave me a conditioning treatment that my hair desperately needed and a trim that I also desperately needed haha. I went to Deena yesterday because I had read so many great reviews about her "blonde" abilities. I was sorely disappointed! I walked in with blonde hair that I had spent 6 months growing out (I had dark ends, but told her to ignore those that I was waiting for them to grow out and then I would cut them off). I gave her the exact formula for root touch-up: High-Lift Light Ash Blonde no number (high lift colors are always higher than a 10 - they don't come with numbers) and then for some dimension I asked her to put in some very minimal low-lights (6NA). She destroyed my blonde hair - put in 8NA all over my roots!!???? My hair is DARK! All that growing out an patience I had went out the window. Now I have to start all over again. I cried. I don't think Deena has any idea what she is doing with color - I talked to several other hair dressers I know and they seemed to know exactly what "high lift" color is. I couldn't be more unhappy. I called the studio and she offered to try to fix it with some PH something, but I'm scared to go back. So incredibly disappointed. I would NOT recommend Studio Savvy Salon or Dena to anyone. read more

I was in San Diego (from NYC) for a wedding at the end of October and found this salon on Yelp. The photo on the left is what I showed the stylist, the right is what she did for me. I was disappointed to see that it looked nothing like what I showed her and this was the end result. My fiance even asked me why I paid $70 for a ponytail that I could have done myself. While the color of my hair came out the exact opposite of what I asked for; the color itself was nice. I asked for cool tone not Warm toned (I even had a photo) and pink/red? was put into it. Unfortunately I had to pay another 100 something at a different salon for them to fix my color (the best they could as red is incredibly hard to get out, and it took so long for all the red to finally wash out; many showers with red running down the drain) I won't come back, and wish I hadn't left such a big tip. I am sure if I had called and asked maybe they would have fixed it, but when I even had a photo at that point I know it isn't me explaining something incorrectly, so I just didn't even want to go back there again. From short blonde hair to long black hair, and everything in between, she always makes me walk out of the salon feeling more confident than I had before! So I've gone here twice. I went once for a haircut and the second for a balayage touch up. So the haircut was great, but the balayage was a different story. My hair is naturally very dark and lifts totally brassy. Deena is helping me get rid of the brass underneath.
