If I could give 6 stars I would! I have been searching for a salon in the Del Mar area as my long-time stylist is in Moreno Valley. After searching/reading/getting quotes, I finally found Ashley! First time appointment and I cannot believe how she NAILED IT! It's like my hair back in college (37+ years ago!) I felt relaxed, pampered, and refreshed after my appointment and had a smile from ear to ear! What a sweetheart! I'll be back (and back and back). Thank you for today - and for making me feel the way I way I do right now! Heart emoji! Check out the before/after! read more

I had my first appointment with Ashley and am thrilled with the results! I'd been with my previous stylist for 15 years but was excited to meet Ashley and get her help with my 59 yr old hair. I've been dealing with hormonal shifts for the past couple of years and had broken hair in the back that just doesn't seem to want to grow out no matter how careful I am! She got me on a plan of washing every other day and once a week, going 3 days. She also suggested that I not use the curling iron on the ends of my hair since once hair starts breaking, it tends to keep doing that and the heat doesn't help! It turns out wrapping only the healthy parts of my hair results in quite a cute hair style as well so needless to say, I couldn't be happier. She's such a wealth of knowledge and great conversationalist - I can't wait to return!! read more

I had a haircut at vixen beauty lounge in the summer of 2021...peak of Covid. My hair is thick and curly. I received a haircut that left me very happy at the time. After that I have been traveling extensively and been away for extended periods of time. Now I've returned to San Diego looking forward to scheduling an appointment soon. The overall service I received was excellent and I'm seeking the same now. The lounge was comfortable clean and felt calm...and I totally feel like a repeat. read more

I LOVE Vixen Beauty Lounge and my stylist Lesley for so many reasons! Lesley is super flexible and accommodates my schedule (even when I change it on her every other month.) She's very fair on pricing and is reasonable when it comes to stretching my color or cut a little longer. Vixen has a loyalty program where you can earn free services when you rack up a certain number of points. The cut and color always looks AMAZING! I get a ton of compliments every time I get my hair done. Lesley and the Vixen crew are all just really nice people. They have a nice little snack bar with tea, cookies and other little treats. I don't have a bad thing to say about Vixen. I've tried a lot of different stylists and salons and Vixen is my go-to for as long as they'll have me! read more

Here's my original review Jul 26, 2021 First time appointment with Ashley and what a treat it was. Not only did she take my nearly all gray hair (Covid ugh) back to a beautiful shade of ashy blonde, she gave me an amazing cut and made me feel like a whole new woman. What a doll she is too, we had so much fun. I can't wait to see her again!! Thank you for making me feel beautiful, Ashley! 10/09/2023 -I haven't ever been able to let my hair grow long. I've always kept it at a medium length. Today my hair is well below my mid back, the color and health of my hair is the best it's ever been, and I am constantly getting compliments on it. It is truly an incredible transformation and I owe it all to Ashley!! At 56 years old, I expected to love my hair less, but the exact opposite has happened! Thanks to her I feel more youthful and confident...I just can't get over what a difference she has made in my life! Love you, Ashley - I will always be one of your biggest fans!!!! read more

Ashley was great. She explained the options for what I thought I wanted and helped me decide what might work best. Great result and it was such a pleasant experience, very relaxed and not rushed at all. Very happy to have found this salon! read more

I relocated to San Diego from Chicago, leaving behind my incredible, long-term stylist. I had a really difficult time finding a local stylist in CA that was the right fit for me and bounced around to different stylists for a few years. I discovered Ashley after coming across her beautiful work on Instagram. I decided to give her a chance after reading her stellar reviews. Why, oh why did I not meet Ashley earlier?!? She really took thought and care in understanding what it was I wanted. She has such a wonderful demeanor that immediately puts you at ease. My hair has never looked better! She nailed my vision of perfect California blonde. I trust her skill so much, she's now also my daughter's stylist. I look forward to each appointment. Not only will I walk out looking amazing, but it always feels as though I was visiting with a friend. Last but not least, for anyone nervous regarding COVID protocols, you can rest easy. Ashley took great care in implementing protocols that met and exceeded standards. I felt safe, as did my daughter. Thank you, Ashley!!! read more

Ive been coming to Vixen Beauty Lounge for 3 years now and love this place even more! Ashley Barragan understands my hair and always gives me exactly what I want and more. When I arrive they instantly cater to me. Her assistant makes me a cappuccino and Claire's cookie. I never have to wait! Her place is so beautiful and everyone is so nice and welcoming. It's always a treat to get my hair done. While waiting for my hair to process she puts a wonderful warm lavender neck pillow Her products are from Italy and very safe too. Lastly...She always offers great incentive deals to her clients. read more

My sister was the one to discover Ashley at Vixen Beauty. One summer my sister came home with the most gorgeous caramel Balayage. My sister and I have dark brown hair so it's really hard to get our color to look blended, but Ashley nailed it. I went in myself and received delicate and well blended babylights, which completely changed my look to a softer look. Ashley is super fun to talk to and adjusts to the social energy of her clients. I have since gone back for hair cuts and balayage, which I've loved. Ashley always leaves my hair healthy and has maintained the health of my fine/dark brown hair even after lightening it. I would go for her if you want a low key, relaxing, and beautiful hair experience! read more

My first appointment with Ashley I couldn't be happier with my hair color and cut. I have fine hair and it was a pleasure to talk to a stylist that could relate to the problems of fine hair. I knew then I was in good hands. I left feeling relaxed and pampered. I highly recommend Ashley. read more

Lesley saved my hair and scalp! I have been battling bad buildup on my scalp for 2 years. I've tried every shampoo out there, asked tons of hair stylists, got acupuncture and nothing worked to fully clear it up and it would dry my hair out terribly! Then I went to Vixen for a haircut and met Lesley. She did an amazing treatment on my scalp, removed all the buildup and recommended a shampoo that was not even sold at the salon. I started using the shampoo and two months later my scalp is 95% clear. The haircut was great as well. I've found my new go to salon! read more

I have been seen Ashley for a year now. My very long curly and often unruly hair had never looked better! She uses organic hair colors that do not damage my hair while providing awesome (lasting!) coverage. I'm so happy I came to the place a year ago. I love my color and cuts. Also, this is the cutest space! So nice and welcoming with no toxic smells of any kind. Ashley is always opened to feedback and has great ideas! I love coming here. read more

For the past few years I've been bouncing around different salons throughout San Diego trying to find the right fit after my old stylist moved away and I am SO happy I landed at Vixen Beauty Lounge! First of all, I have to say that Lesley was great! She is very personable and she really knows her stuff when it comes to hair. She listened to what my vision was and then educated me about the best way to achieve the look I wanted with my specific hair type. My cut turned out wonderful and my hair feels so healthy and refreshed. I also received a handwritten thank you note from her in the mail the next day, and those are the type of little details that make a big impression. The salon is beautifully decorated and has such a cozy feel to it with lots of natural light and plants. I also love that they use Davines haircare! I decided to re-stock on some of my favorite Davines products on my way out of the salon and was able to get an extra 10% from their "roll the dice" promo, so that was a nice surprise :) Overall, I would say that they truly have a focus on creating a lovely customer experience. With the boutique setting, the attention to the small details like thank you notes, coffee & tea and snacks for their clients, it really creates a great environement that you can't always find at larger salons. Thank you so much to Lesley and Vixen Beauty Lounge! So happy to have found a new salon "home" in San Diego! read more

Ashley was AMAZING! Very friendly and hospitable. I liked that we were one on one in the salon. It made me feel very nice and relaxed, especially with all of the crazy going on with COVID. I have had the hardest time finding a great stylist. Two stylists that had been referred to me never returned my voicemails. Frustrated, I turned to Yelp and found Vixen. Ashley, the owner, actually answered the phone and had a very friendly phone presence. She was able to take me within a few days and did a great job on my cut and color. Unfortunately, my lowlights weren't as dark as we thought they would be, so she redid that portion of my coloring today and it came out great! Her salon is very cute and clean in Solana Beach and Ashley is very sweet! I will be returning in a few months. read more

I'm so glad that I found Ashley at Vixen Beauty Lounge. After spending 20 years with the same colorist in Los Angeles, I moved back to San Diego and was a bit lost. I found another local stylist here, but after a couple bad cuts and funky highlights, I started my quest to find someone new. I found Vixen Beauty Lounge on Yelp and connected with Ashley for a phone consultation. She knew immediately the cut I wanted so I booked my appointment. When I got to the salon, we promptly had another consultation about the cut and color. She could definitely see what I was dealing with. Well, I emerged from the salon that night with a great cut and highlights. Thank you Ashley-can't wait for our next appointment! read more

Lovely girls. The salon is cute and charming. Leslie is so sweet and chill. The haircare they use is truly amazing, my hair is so soft and not at all frizzy the day after! The luxury shampoo is my favourite thing in the world! It's a full 10 minutes of massage when you get a deep condition too. She personally uses Dyson hair dryer and that outcome is amazing. We did a luxury blowout, blow dry and style. She did the lost perfect beach waves I ever had professionally done. I've been to over 15 different salons and have had 7 of them to try the beach wave but Leslie did my hair so nice. I am defiantly coming back to Leslie for hair style for events and partys read more

Since my last review in 2015 the salon has only gotten better! Vixen is such a welcoming space where I feel really comfortable. I get my hair done by Ashley and she always does a fantastic job. She is super knowledgeable and skilled, plus the products she uses/sells are sooooooo good! read more

I've been coming to Vixen for a few years now. I've got long, mid-back multi-color blonde hair and all about looking natural but I've referred friends who have dark hair and also some who want to get crazy color creative. I love that Ashley is a color specialist who does continuing education, is incredibly knowledgeable, and uses quality products. I've had conversations about what we can do so my hair looks fabulous but that I can truly afford. Per her suggestion, I do a base break and cut every other appointment to elongate my color between partial highlights. Twice a year, I do a full highlight to make sure the underneath back still blends. This was done simply to support my budget. She is funny and real, also easy to talk to and not judgy, so your time in the chair is a cool experience. The vibe in the salon is easy going and the other girls contribute to a good energy. read more

I had my first appointment with Ashley this week and she exceeded any expectation that I had. The experience was personalized and she asked many questions to ensure she achieved my desired color/cut. Before Vixen Beauty Lounge.............. - My trusty stylist of 17 years said, " Yes of course you can have hair like JLO" - uhhh not by her skill....I had a total of two bleach processes and I think a total of two or three toning or color corrections. I went back 4 times to correct the "not even close" to JLO hair. I finally said- forget it!! I was talking (whining) to a gal about my hair just in casual conversation. She offered that I go see a gal she knows at Vixen Beauty Lounge in Solana Beach. I was like- uhhh that is too far for me. She said- actually with no traffic it is about 20 minutes. She said Ashley does GREAT HAIR!!! To be honest - everyone says that about their stylist- BUT, what had me wondering is this gal's hair was BEAUTIFUL and I thought maybe our definition of great is close to the same. So my daughter came back in town for Christmas Break while I was undergoing this fiasco. She arrived with her hair faded from that weird Fire Engine Red everyone was doing to a now faded purplish color. I did not know what could be done but I thought- maybe this Ashley gal could fix her hair. I knew I would not be sending her to my regular stylist after the Jennifer Lopez Disaster.!! - My daughter can write her own review ( where she will accuse me of making her the guinea pig ) but Ashley was able to take that color out somehow- " magic fairy hairdresser magic"!!! Once I saw that i said ok- I will try her out. Ashley Color corrected my hair~ ! Yes I will post my disaster pictures after cropping out my unhappy faces. SOME KEY POINTS - Ashley is punctual - knowledgeable - friendly You feel comfortable with her in the first 3 minutes of meeting her. She delivered results better than I expected and her prices are affordable considering the area -I anticipated a higher price. I drove to Solana Beach for my service from North Park. On that Saturday, there was no traffic. For these results - I would and will drive in traffic and I HATE TRAFFIC. I am so happy I found her! Oh and yes the salon is super cute ! If that is what is important to you - but for me THE SINGLE one, most important thing is THE RESULTS. Try her out for color correction especially if you are unhappy where you are going now -you will NOT be disappointed. read more

Ashley has been my hair stylist for over a year now and the compliments from both friends and strangers keep coming! I love this place!! I needed a haircut ahead of having a new picture taken for my website and was so lucky to find Lesley at Vixen. Ashley squeezed me in the week of, and even though I generally hate having my hair cut, it was such a lovely experience! Lesley looked at the photos I brought, talked me through my options (the haircut I wanted would take a couple cuts to achieve so we discussed long term and short term hair decisions), and made me SUPER comfortable. I've never had someone explain so thoroughly what the cut I wanted would entail or how to achieve it. Not only is the salon super cute, but Lesley is super nice, listens, and is respectful of your haircut neuroses, if you have any :) I love my cut and can't wait to go back to her for another! read more

Ashley at Vixen Beauty Lounge is a fantastic stylist!! She takes the time during the consultation to understand what you want, challenges/areas of concern with your hair and the cost associated with the services you want. The head massage during the shampoo was luxurious and relaxing. And most importantly, I love my new hair cut and color!!! It is exactly what I wanted!!! Thanks, Ashley. read more

Lesley and Ashley are great hair dressers that really know what they're doing and listen to their guests. I have been so fortunate to have found this salon after several years of first trying places closer to home. Worth the drive. I have admired every cut and or color I've seen them do on others over the 2 years I've been going. I have never felt rushed like at other places. They've never been over booked which means you're getting the right amount of attention you deserve on your hair.
