It's a bustling little spot and we got the last table for two in the spot. They were full of families, friend groups, and couples--they definitely have a broad appeal. And, I can see why. I ordered their goat cheese tartlet with chips, which was delicious. The guiness that we ordered was cold and delicious. The service was kind and attentive. The squid was fried perfectly with a light, crispy batter, and a squeeze of lemon with the sweet chili sauce really brought the flavors together. The Sticky Crispy Chicken was equally impressive--crispy chicken tossed in a sweet chili sauce with onions, peppers, green onions, and sesame seeds. The vegetables helped balance the sweetness, creating a great sweet and savory combination. Overall, it was a delicious lunch with well-executed dishes and a beautiful waterfront atmosphere. We'd happily stop here again on another trip through Dungarvan.

Although smallish, it has two fireplaces, a few mini sofas, several plush easy chairs, a tall bistro table and a communal dining table for weary radio/audio makers to settle into, enjoy a drink or four and relax. I had their signature hot tea & whisky toddy with lemon, cloves and a bit of sugar. I also had a few Bushmills as one does. They have a full espresso service as well for a quick daytime pick-me-up but honestly, as I believe day-drinking was invented in Ireland, a coffee functions more like a gateway drug here with a pint or something quick to follow. It should be known that the prices are a bit more than other spots on main street but the slight uptick is worth it for the vast collection of curiosities and knick knacks that line the shelves and the general inimitable vibe--it's like a mini museum with drinks! The owners/bartenders/hosts are very kind and cheerful. I had done a bit of shopping earlier at the butcher's for a dinner party the following day and they refrigerated my purchases until I was ready to leave. Upon entering I was impressed by the somewhat typical Irish pubness of the bar, but yet it had a cool style all of its own that sets it apart from all other Irish pubs. Venturing further back, we had the back room reserved off to the left, but more on that later. It was out to the coolest beer garden in County Cork, nay in Ireland. It's on two level, the back wall made up of the shell of an older building. Picnic tables a plenty, because the beer garden also has a food truck. A most excellent food truck called The Field Kitchen. We had stuffed mussels and fish n chips. Both excellent. Later as the night drew in we retreated to our reserved room, which had a handy window into the bar and wood burner in the corner. We revelled the rest of the night away, retailing each other of the great wedding the night before. It was a great weekend, which was enhanced ten fold by our party in Blackbird.
