No call, no rationale (e.g. an item isn't available) just a notification on the app that the order was canceled. OK. Technically they did call once, I reordered based on what they said was available but they canceled the new order as well. I try to support local businesses - even when the food isn't always the *best* (e.g. their large chocolate chip cookies occasionally have a soapy chemical aftertaste but their crumb cake is dense and delicious) which is why I kept ordering from them despite the cancellations. But even if the food is GREAT, if the customer's experience consistently sucks? If the service is subpar? That = a permanently lost customer.

Vernon and metered street parking is available. The store is small, clean and has glass display cases with freshly made goods. There were not a lot of items available due to most of the sweet treats having been sold because of Mother's Day. We grabbed a six pack of beautifully decorated cupcakes which included red velvet, Dubai style, banana and chocolate. The cupcakes were moist and flavorful. I also picked up a small banana pudding which was so good with layers of fresh bananas and vanilla wafers. The venue also has a cupcake food truck which is available for parties and events. It looked like maybe (1) strawberry sliced into many pieces. This was a cake for our son being promoted to NYPD Sergeant and the parents and family were very upset over the dryness and taste of this cake. We paid a very good amount of money for this cake and we had to dispose of it in the garbage. The owner wanted to give us a $15.00 credit for the lack of strawberries and we decided to let her keep it because we figured she needs it more than us. Also, we will not be recommending this establishment to any family member or friend. The outside of the cake was nicely done, but the inside left a lot to be desired. Ralph D.

I have a few favorites. For breakfast I love love the porridge. Monday is cornmeal porridge and other days you have options like peanut porridge. Breakfast also has callaoo and saltfish, cook up selfish, ackee and selfish (national dish). These go well with fried dumpling or provisions/food ( combo of boiled yams, green banana and dumpling). For lunch/dinner you have your everyday items. Stew chicken, curry chicken, fried chicken (So good). Also, oxtail, curry goat and stew peas (only on friday). These dishes come with white rice or rice and peas with either salad or cabbage. If you ask and if they still have some left you can get 2 pieces of fried plantain with your meal as well. You can pick gravy from any stew. So if you order fried chicken you can get curry gravy or any of the stew gravies available. Of course you can pick small, medium or large plate. They also have soups and patties. There is also baked goods available but I find that lately they don't over as much pastries as the years before. However, you will find your Easter Bun soft and Fresh just around this time of year. Great tasting, well seasoned authentic Jamaican food.

The Amatos - originally from Naples, Italy -created a style of baking that formed the basis of what is now known as Bronx Style Italian Bread. Also keeping with the traditions of their culture, they bake 363 days a year, seven days a week and are only closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. Having continually served their community for 125 years, they have baked for over 45,000 days! In 1945, The Amato family partnered with the Manna family which formed the "A" and "M" in A&M Bronx Baking. In 1985 as the business was expanding, A&M sought out a corporate partner who could appreciate the nuisance and craft that went into the work performed by both families. Having found that partner, the bakery expanded in 1993 to service areas all around the United States and the Caribbean. A&M remains true to their roots by offering breads baked on a hearth in brick-lined ovens and they continually evolve by offering new product lines made with the same care as the first loaves made in the 1800s. Restaurant chains far and wide trust A&M because of their uncompromising quality, and people far and wide love them because they can get a taste of the Bronx no matter where they are.
