I hemmed and hawed about spending any money to fix something that only cost a couple hundred bucks. But finally I called Molly and she was unbelievably friendly and helpful. Not only did they offer to schedule a repair visit at a low cost, but Molly herself called back and talked me through several possible fixes on the phone, one of which did the trick and got everything working great again. And she did all this FOR FREE! If I ever have a need for any future services, you can bet I know where I am going. I urge you to support this local treasure!!

In the process, doggie mangled the zipper and chewed a hole in one of the pockets. While at Backcountry Essentials (also in Bellingham) I was reminded of Larrabee Gear Works and gave them a call. I got a quote to fix the zipper that was less than buying another new pack, plus the pack was otherwise in perfect condition and felt wasteful to just buy another one out of convenience. The turnaround was way faster than anticipated and you can't tell there was ever any damage. The repair even included the hole in the pocket. I mean wow. Somewhere I read that my item may be returned in better condition than received. In this case, I can verify that to be true. Seriously, it may be more convenient to buy a new thing, but by doing the environment a solid you're also helping some local folks make a living at their business.
