I explained that I cannot currently afford another examination, but instead of showing even a little compassion or trying to help me find a solution, I was told they would not approve the medication without another paid exam. What upset me even more was the way I was spoken to. I was accused of "demanding" medication when I was asking them to please approve it because it helps my dog. I was then told, "Period. End of discussion," and told to go home. I understand that veterinarians have medical and legal protocols they need to follow, and I am not asking anyone to prescribe something irresponsibly. But there is a huge difference between explaining a medical requirement with compassion and treating a distressed pet owner like an inconvenience. When someone is scared for their dog and struggling financially, basic empathy costs nothing. I left feeling that there was absolutely no willingness to help me find an alternative -- only another requirement to pay before my dog could continue receiving something that had been helping him. This experience left me feeling unheard, humiliated, and deeply disappointed. I would not recommend this clinic based on the way this situation was handled. One star.

Because there are only three exam rooms, it was easy to overhear conversations between veterinarians and clients. On several occasions, I heard one veterinarian lead with the worst-case scenario before discussing anything else. That communication style caused me a great deal of anxiety, so I decided I would avoid seeing that particular doctor. The night before my birthday, my five-year-old dog was up coughing all night. I brought her in first thing the next morning. My regular veterinarian was fully booked, and the only available doctor was the one I was uncomfortable seeing. I quietly told the nurse that I would prefer to wait for another veterinarian if possible. Instead, the nurse told that veterinarian I didn't like his bedside manner. He refused to see me, refused to come out to speak with me, and wouldn't even allow me the opportunity to explain that my concern was simply how frightening information was communicated. Instead of a conversation, the practice manager came in, told me to leave the premises, and said I was never welcome back. My dog was never examined. After five years of loyalty, I was turned away with a sick dog simply because I respectfully expressed that I was uncomfortable with one veterinarian's communication style. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional or lacking in compassion.

My dog was sick for 10 days and I went to Bond vet after hearing great things from other pet owners…read morein my building. They were able to see my pet for a same day appointment. The lady on the phone set me up with an account and an app within 15 minutes. The exam room at Bond Vet was spacious and allowed for my dog to move around and decompress at his own rate. The the vet tech was patient and gentle with my dog offering him treats, petting him, and allowing him to sniff all her tools before she even began her routine exam. By the time Dr. Halle Thomasch came in my dog had began to calm down. She again took her time offering him treats, petting him, and allowing him to sniff all her tools. It was clear Dr. Thomasch reviewed all my dog's medical records and notes before our visit (even though it was so last minute) because she was able to answer all my questions and pinpoint exactly where things went wrong at the last vet and how she plans to correct them. She was extremely thorough and patient with both me and my dog which was much appreciated. All the costs and procedures were explained to me upfront. Nothing was done to my dog without me knowing. Nothing was charged to my card without my authorization. I was given an itemized receipt that was emailed to me and will show in my app as well. I was also emailed detailed notes of the visit. I was explained exactly what the follow up procedure is, how I should administer medication, etc. Our visit lasted over an hour which shows how meticulous and thorough my dog's exam was as well as the explanation of payment and debriefing on medications and follow up procedures. Even though we were there well past closing on a holiday, the ladies at the front desk stayed to play fetch with my dog and give him pets and treats for being such a brave boy. We even left with a goodie bag! I cannot say enough good things about Bond Vet. If I could give it 10 stars I would. If I could give Dr. Thomasch 10 stars I would. GET A SECOND OPINION before doing work!!!! Last year I used…read moreBond Vet at 62nd Street a few times while splitting my time between New York and Los Angeles--I will NOT be returning! About a year ago I brought my 5-year-old dog to Bond Vet because her mouth seemed to be bothering her and a tooth seemed to be loose. After the doctor examined her, I was told that she needed approximately 12 teeth extracted, with an estimate of more than $10K - 12K. I was shocked. Because I was told this wasn't an emergency, I decided to get a second opinion from my longtime vet in Los Angeles. I sent my LA veterinarian the records, and he ultimately recommended extracting only four or five teeth at a cost of approximately $1,400-$1,500, and when we returned that week, he told me her other teeth and gums looked very good. I understand veterinarians can have different opinions and that dental procedures can vary in complexity, but a recommendation for approximately 12 extractions with a bill exceeding $10K versus four or five teeth for roughly $1,500 was an extraordinary discrepancy. It made me very uncomfortable. UPDATE: It's been 16 months since my dog had 5 teeth removed, and she's perfect. Last evening, I had a 5:30 appointment for a nail trim and to have my dog looked at for itching. I accidentally went to their other office, called ahead, and arrived just two minutes beyond their 15-minute late policy after running through the pouring rain carrying my dog. I completely understand that I was late and that businesses have policies for a reason. I was told I could get the nail trim; however, I would have to reschedule the minor exam for itching. I asked if I could skip the nails and go into the room for the exam since the doctor was obviously scheduled for my appointment. Again, I was told that wasn't possible. Not sure if it was possible two minutes prior, and if I skipped one part of the appointment, why I couldn't get in to see the doctor then. (I believe this was poor judgement on the front desk clerk to not check with the doctor). It was obvious my dog was uncomfortable, and I was happy to skip the nails and see the doctor. NO ONE was waiting in the waiting room for an appointment, simply picking up. I was also willing to wait longer until the doctor was free. I have had veterinarians for decades who would simply say, "We're running behind, but if you're willing to wait, we'll see your dog." Think twice before using this office.
