We're here super early to catch a train. Better to be early in my opinion. Staff are a bit abrupt but get the message across. The track has not been announced yet. It's time to sit and wait for the appointed time.

3/7/26 Early Morning Ride. I almost got on the wrong train 101, I'm glad I got off the line after reading the train number you can't make this up, Morning fun. Then i asked the attendant Andre what track will my train number be on and he walked me down to the train super sweet. I was the first person on. I felt like home alone. until I didn't then others boarded. Until next time bye.

We took the train from Boston to New York and took the Acela in first class which was absolutely amazing especially with the great service free drinks and a decent meal . Now I will say the back bay station needs some cleaning up but once you get on the train it is smooth sailing from there it's close to a 4 hour train ride but it really does go by quick with all the great views from the train and it was very comfortable. I can't wait to go on some further rides and experience even more.

People are hard on Amtrak. We get it. Planes are faster. These days they may also be cheaper. Sometimes people get delayed. Same can happen with any travel method. I've traveled Amtrak many times, to multiple cities, on rides of various lengths. 12 hours to New Orleans in a sleeper car. 8 hours to Chicago in a sleeper car. An hour or so to Philly in first/business class. 3 hours to DC from NYC first/business class. I've not ridden in their coach, but I've ridden in regular or what would be considered coach seats in other types of trains, and I still find those fine. Yes, in first class I get complimentary meals, snacks, and cocktails. And on this latest trip from NYC to DC, I got a hot towel for my face at the end. Service was excellent. Seat was wide and comfortable. Table worked great so you can do some work on the laptop. Wifi worked great for me. I was worried about my baggage . . . I thought it was supposed to be checked, but Acela trains generally don't check baggage. Looking online, it looked like there were restrictions . . . and here I was, with at least one large, oversized bag, and another one that was pretty heavy. No one hassled me. They said, "there's a rack right inside the door." I was able to put my large/heavy bags on the rack. Though the other people who brought smaller/size appropriate bags had plenty of space in the overhead bins (similar to airlines). Some reviews complained about service, but everyone was so responsive, attentive, and helpful to me. Overall, I love train travel. No, it's not as fast as flying. Yes, sometimes it can cost more (sometimes, depending on the situation). But it has this romance to it. You can read, relax, gaze out the window. You have to slow down. And we need that so much these days.

This is a review for Amtrak's Metropolitan Lounge at the Amtrak Moynihan Station in NYC. It is available for passengers riding in the First Class car. You have to present your day-of-ticket to enter. Day passes are available to coach class for a fee plus their day of Amtrak ticket. The Metropolitan room in a nutshell--off the hook for little ole me and my companion. Staff is great. Courteous and helpful. They have a self-serve hot coffee/tea/hot cocoa station. You can order your complimentary sandwiches, salads, and various pastries from the sleek food service counter. They also have a self-service alcove for snacks (like chips, meal bars and popcorn) that you can take with you on your journey if you like. There is a cash bar available for those wanting a little something harder before your trip. The bathrooms are clean. I can only speak for the women's bathroom. There was even a nice nursing room for mothers that includes a changing table, sink, and a comfortable chair. There are complimentary lockers to leave your luggage in so you aren't dragging it with you all over the lounge. There is plenty of charging blocks for plugs and USBs scattered throughout the lounge on tables and wall outlets (not a whole lot) for those that need it. There are electronic boards located about the lounge that provide updated information on train arrivals and departures. The front desk also makes sure to call out your name to remind you if you ask for this service (which is really reserved for those needed extra time to board and a "Red Cap" to escort you to your train and handle your luggage--note: have tip money). I'm happy to partake of this lounge again when I travel on Amtrak.

The bathrooms are surprisingly huge, and the cafe car is spacious with plenty of food options. The whole ride was incredibly smooth and easygoing. No fighting for legroom, no feeling like you're packed into a metal tube with strangers breathing on you. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Sleek, comfortable, smooth... This is what I found out about it…read more Moynihan Train Hall is more than a transit hub -- it's a Beaux‑Arts landmark, a public art gallery, and a family‑friendly destination with quirky details you won't find anywhere else in NYC. Moynihan Train Hall occupies the James A. Farley Building, once New York City's main post office, designed by McKim, Mead & White in 1914 to match the original Penn Station across Eighth Avenue . It's one of the city's great adaptive‑reuse stories -- the mail‑sorting halls are now a train concourse, while the USPS still operates a post office there. Inside it has a skylight the size of an acre! The Main Concourse's 92‑foot‑high skylight spans an acre of glass, made up of 3,160 individual panels set in complex 3D steel geometrics. It floods the hall with natural light day and night. Hanging 25 feet above the floor in the Main Concourse is a 12‑foot‑tall, 6‑foot‑wide clock weighing almost 5,000 pounds. Its installation was a major engineering feat. The "The Hive" by Elmgreen & Dragset suspends dozens of illuminated high‑rise buildings up to 16 feet tall from the vaulted ceiling at the 31st Street Midblock Entry Hall -- a surreal, upside‑down cityscape. The hall is named after Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who was a longtime advocate for expanding Penn Station and improving NYC's rail infrastructure. Both the old Penn Station and the Farley Building were designed by McKim, Mead & White in the Beaux‑Arts style, making Moynihan a modern "twin" to the 1910 rail landmark.

Love the stylish elements + unique architectural design inside and outside. That has really stood out from other buildings in the city. Until recently, I come to realize that I have never once stopped to admire of how marvelous the actual architecture has looked before. Whenever I am in a rush, I would never notice the little things around me. The Hudson Yards Station is definitely more spotless + that much cleaner. Always thankful to be seeing the hardworking MTA employees sweeping up the platform and inside train carts. They wanna make sure that it's not looking dirty in any way. And, it really does show. There're several kiosk machines for passengers to buy and reload their OMNY Cards from. Who can forget about the breathtaking glass mosaic art piece up in the ceiling? If you're always looking down at your phone, then it's very likely that you might miss out on the vibrant view from up above. By the way, I like how the dome reminds me of the planets in the night sky/galaxy/universe. Fun Fact: Did you know that Hudson Yards hold the record with the second longest and steepest escalators for being 172 feet long in the NYC Subway System? Takes about 90 seconds in total to go up from down. Supposedly the same as ten building floors in height. Be sure to hold on tight and not let go of the rails. Unsuitable for those who are afraid of heights due to the height level. But sometimes, you just gotta go up if that happens to be the only option to reach your destination.

I'd never been -- the station is only three years old -- so I stopped by Sunday to (pardon the expression) 'case the joint out.' Good thing! I entered at Grand Central Station, followed signs and walked. Then walked some more. Took escalators, maybe an elevator. Finally ended up at ticketing. I don't think I would have allotted enough time if I hadn't known the layout beforehand. It was off hour. Not many people there. The customer service rep, a wonderful woman named Heather, wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. She actually left her post to show me the tracks and helped me get my bearings. (Guess what! Heather was there Monday morning when I returned. I felt like I was seeing an old friend!) Here's a tip for everyone: If you don't want to deal with the underground labyrinth, look for the elevator on Madison off 47th Street. It'll take you directly down to ticketing and the waiting area. And specifically for older folks: To reap the senior discount, purchase your tickets the day of your trip, not before. There's no upcharge to buy tickets on the train. If I heard correctly, senior fares are the same for peak and off-peak -- but don't quote me on that! This station is light, bright, much quieter than Penn. Bathrooms are infinitely better.
