The first train stop after crossing into Oregon from California on the Amtrak Coast Starlight, Amtrak - Klamath Falls was a 9 minute 'smoke-break' stop early in the morning of our second day (Leap Day 2024). We were the only train stop in the morning, and there were two thru way buses scheduled for later that day (one to Grants Pass, the other to Redmond, Oregon. Happy Thanksgiving! We took the train to Seattle from Union Station in Los Angeles. The Amtrak came on time. We got a sleeper car. Very nice and clean. The room has plenty of linen , towels , soap and pillows. We also have a shower in the sleeper car. Is not a trip for everyone The food is amazingly good , I give it a 7 out of 10 The service is nice . If you can survive in a small sleeper car with your partner , then I recommend it The staff in the train are very nice. They are all wearing mask. Hand sanitizer everywhere. You are require to wear your mask at all times, except when eating or in your room.At night time was very quiet Everything is clean. They offer a lot of coffee throughout the night. If you have a sleeper car, 5 meals are included. Definitely not for children Nothing for them to do , in my opinion. Enjoy your day ! read more

In 2016 I rode from SF Bay Area to Portland. I paid extra for "business class" which promised extra room etc. I chose a seat in the lower part of the train . The A/C was stuck on all night. Around midnight we were freezing, and blocked the door open to the vestibule and luggage area to get heat. The car attendant not only came and shut the door, he called the conductor who demanded my ticket and ID, could not tell from my ticket that I had paid for Buisness Class.. and generally was an insulting prick who treated me and the one other passenger a black guy in a wheel chair.. like some kind of criminal scum. I contracted bronchitis from this 18 hour ride in an icebox, I am a long time Amtrak rider. Apparently, if you don't go first class, which I do when I travel with my wife.. you are worse than cattle. Congress needs to Fund Amtrak better than say India or Burma does. read more

There's no shop to get snacks or reading materials for your train ride. You can pick up a newspaper from the coin operated stands outside the building. read more

I know that trains are fussy and there js not much you can do, but after an eight hour delay in the middle of nowhere you would think the customer service would be better. just unapologetic and ruthless about a really unpleasant situation. Staff miffed and snarky and ready to battle because god forbid people inquire about walking away from the train, or perhaps are done shelling out exorbitant costs for food and beverage for a now even longer extended period of time. Did you miss your connecting bus due to our fuckup? tough shit! do we owe you even the slightest kickback or smile or apology? meh, hit the curb if you dont like it. just appalling i cant imagine ever taking amtrak again. read more

I've seen the greater Klamath Falls area 2 ways - on the Coast Starlight train (Northbound in the Morning) and recently by car. The Amtrak Station itself is not much to look at from either the car or train-side perspective. The neighbourhood also seems a little bit past its time. The payoff is the gorgeous scenery I experienced on either side of town. The Station is a means to a very satisfying end. read more

Years ago I would have given the Coast Starlight Five Stars. I have been on this route several times, but they have discontinued the extra touch that made this a first class liner. Namely the roomette experience was so posh, with tables donning white table cloths, flowers and arrival champagne! Sadly that has all changed. No ice coffee or tea service at your disposal in your rail car. But I must admit that our porter, "George" was Five Star. He cheerfully attended to our every need at any time. The WiFi in the parlor car only, barely worked and there was no movie car, bar car or snacks in the snack car. The dining service is still first rate with the same grouchy service. All in all with the price nearly tripled with all my discounts, this ride has been taken over by foreign tourists with money to burn! Oh how I long for days past. read more

This was my first time on the amtrack and it was the worst experience I have had. I would never recommend this service to anyone and will never ride again. On the 703 train we we're delayed 45 min because someone boarded without a ticket and refused to leave. Then since the police never showed up they let her stay however it still delayed our journey. Then I got on the 14 where my foot recliner was broke so I could not recline my chair all of the way. The heater was on and my back, neck, and legs were killing me. I did not sleep. Then we were stuck on the track for an hour and a half while they were doing repairs which we were not notified of prior. Then they come around for lunch and they only have 10 boxed lunches for over 50 passanger? Reservations are past 2pm for lunch. This is not ok. I was supposed to be off by 3:25pm. I did not sign up for a 24 hr train ride. My arrival time in Portland went from 3:25pm to 5:15pm and now they are saying we won't arrive until 7:30pm??? Again this is horrible and not ok. It is a major inconvenience. I have a rental car and they close at 5pm, then my hotel reservation is in moclips which is a three hour drive from Portland. So now I have to get a rental 40 min away and drive around in the dark. I can't cancel my reservation because I would be charged $172. So I have to drive in the dark and won't arrive until after 11? Seriously worst trip ever!! Thank you Amtrack for ruining my experience and my birthday. read more

Sadly, Amtrak has disintegrated so much since my last review, we won't ride coach ever again. The club car on the Coast Starlight has been removed. The staff are still working hard as ever. The bathrooms wreaked, up into the coach area. Delays of two hours or more caused stress in the passengers as well as the staff. More accommodations are being considered not cost effective. This is so very sad. read more

They never stop here for long. And everytime I go through, it's at night. But when I have been here during the day, there's no reason to get off unless you smoke (I don't). There isn't anything inside. Just a standard train stop. That's it. read more

Stopped here for thirty minutes. The area around the train station, predictably, is kind of run-down and dilapidated. There wasn't anywhere I could see to go and get a bottle of liquor (the train was asking $7 for a baby bottle of gin!) so I had to stretch and simply take in the very pretty view of southern Oregon. Then back into the train and off we went on the Coast Starlight! read more

K-Falls is an All American town. While the Falls do not exist, the folks are among my favorite. Go Hornets!
