The location is fantastic; super close to the Zoo and tram stops, near the Ooster park, across from a couple of lovely bars, biergartens with patio seating and close to the city but with more of a residential feel. We got a 3 person room and found the shape of the room to be odd but overall, it worked for us. The rooms have large windows and ours was overlooking the park and so it was like being in a tree house.
Shower and toilet rooms were separate which was good when you travel and share a room with others but the toilet/WC is really tiny and compact and if you are imaginative can feel like it is closing in on you. I don't know why they didn't even think of at least putting a tiny mirror. The shower is okay but not great. It is a wet shower as in the water will will spill into the area with the sink. And there is no body lotion. Not a big deal for many people, but for me, my skin gets dry and so I wish I had known.
Wifi works well and fast.
This is not a luxury hotel nor a business-friendly one. There are no charging ports anywhere by the bed nor are there any universal power outlets. I hardly see hotels without at least one universal power outlet these days. If you are the 'charge my phone by my bed person', beware. This is more a dorm converted to a hotel with no upgrades whatsoever since the 60's or 70's. No aircon either, no mini-fridge or microwave.
The front desk service is lovely but they are very understaffed so be prepared for a wait to check in, check out or if you have questions. But you can get the public transit tickets with them.
Would I stay here on my return? Yes, I loved the location and all it offers but come prepared with supplies you need. read more
