The location might feel bit far from the center, but to me that was appealing. A slower pace and more local vibe made for some realistic exploring. I was able to book this room on points and even had a suite upgrade, so this was the best place to stay at the end of a trip. I'm just sad we didn't stay here for longer! Our room was spacious, they had a wooden baby crib with a tiny little pillow and duvet, a walk-in closet, and giant bathroom. The bed was so comfy and we almost never wanted to leave the room. the only downside is there are windows where the bedroom is, only in the living room area. The staff were accommodating putting ice packs and breast milk in the freezer and answering any questions. We explored the club room for happy hour and breakfast, but also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant and WOW. Quite the spread with something for everyone! I love that you can get coffee and eggs made to order. On our last breakfast we had to leave quickly and they made our coffees to go. Truly a gem and I would 100% return here.

The hotel is located a little further out from the city center than I would have liked, but it is an easy 5 minute walk to the train and tram station, where you can be anywhere in town within another 10 minutes. Overall, this is a great hotel to stay at if you work in one of the nearby businesses, I would just be reluctant to recommend it for this looking to be in the "action" downtown. Everyone I interacted with there was professional, helpful, and friendly. Unfortunately, the good service at the front desk didn't extend to the rest of the hotel. The bar and Lotti's restaurant were both consistently understaffed, and the service was extremely slow. Lotti's also seemed to be out of a lot of the main dishes, even though the menu is already pretty limited. As for the rooms, they were okay, but felt a little worn and could really use some updating. Nothing terrible, but for what the hotel charges, I think you should be able to expect a bit more comfort and quality. After checking out the W Hotel nearby, which was much nicer for a similar price, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. For nearly $4500 after taxes for three nights in two rooms at the Hoxton, I honestly felt a bit cheated. Again, the front desk team deserves credit, but overall, I think the Hoxton needs to step up its game to justify these rates.

Plus, the Lloyd Hotel was an old prison turned into an art project and 1-5 star hotel - who wouldn't want to stay there? Location: The hotel is located in east Amsterdam in the docklands. This area is an up and coming area. There's not much other than a couple of grocery stores, other household stores and a couple of restaurants. Arrival: It's a very simple arrival process. The hotel entrance is very non-descript and could be missed if you're paying attention. There's no place to park your car in front of the hotel except for the street. Bellman: There are no bellmen at the hotel to help you. So be sure you can carry your own luggage. Parking: There is a parking garage separate from the hotel. You have to push the "Lloyd Hotel" button upon entrance for your ticket since they share the garage with other offices in the area. Follow the "Lloyd Hotel" signs all the way down to the end of the garage to park. There's a stairwell that leads up to the ground level and the backside of the hotel across from the restaurant terrace. You have to pay for your parking at the hotel reception. Reception/Front Desk: It's a very small front desk which has two people. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Lobby: The "lobby" area is small, long and narrow with some couches spread out in a couple of areas. You can sit in the restaurant/cafe which is right across the reception. Room: There are 117 rooms which range from 1-5 star rooms and every room is different. We decided to go with a 4-star room and ended up with room 217. The room was long and rectangular at the end of the building. You walked into a small entry room with a table for two and a couch. You then walked into the bathroom and then into the bedroom. View: We had massive grand windows in the bedroom which looked upon a walkway. Bed: There were two twin beds which were pushed together to make a queen. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom: The bathroom was big and simple with a shower which had good pressure, sink and a toilet. Hair dryer: The dryer wasn't very strong. I'm particular about hair dryers because I have a lot of hair. Products: They had their own products and only had two bottles of shampoo and a small bar of soap. If you're staying in a 4-star room you should at least receive the basic toiletries of shower gel, conditioner, q-tips, etc. Closet: There wasn't a traditional closet in the room, but along the wall of the bathroom there were hooks with hangers you could hang your stuff. Safe: There was no safe in the room. Control Panel: N/A. Just a remote for the TV. Minibar: There was no minibar in the room. Mirrors: There were two small mirrors in the bathroom. Housekeeping: Poor. This is where I had the most complaints. 1) They didn't change the sheets and 2) They only have us one bath towel on day two. When I asked for another one they said they ran out, but very rudely said "we gave you one big towel and two small ones" and 3) We had an empty bag of potato chips and they left of on the floor. Wifi: The wifi was free and the speed was ok. Dining: We tried all three meals at the hotel restaurant cafe which were all fine. Please see my separate review of the restaurant. Spa: There was no spa at the hotel. Concierge: There isn't a traditional concierge at the hotel, but reception/front desk is very helpful and can answer any and all questions you may have. Style: The hotel is very quirky and artsy. Pet friendly: Dogs are welcome at no cost. This is the first hotel we've stayed at where our dog wasn't charged a fee. There is no bed, bowls, etc for the dog in the room, but you can't expect that since you don't have to pay. One thing though, dogs are not allowed in the room unattended which is good and bad. Good because your dog is allowed everywhere in the hotel, but bad because you have to find dog friendly places to go (other restaurants, cafes, etc) to on your trip. Luckily if you go to Amsterdam when the weather is good there are plenty of places with outside seating. Service: Overall the service is excellent (minus housekeeping) at the hotel. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Two instances: 1) Robin from reception was not only super helpful with all of our Amsterdam questions, but also found us another bath towel and delivered it personally after I shared the information I received from housekeeping. 2) Ann from the restaurant tracked me down before checking out and found a t-shirt I wanted to purchase from the hotel store when we thought they were sold out. Would I go back? Yes, depending on the price since the pricing of the rooms fluctuate. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, but I do think it depends on your room and whether you're ok with the range of clientele in the hotel.

They have a nightclub downstairs so you don't even have to leave your hotel if you are in the mood to party. The rooms were a bit smaller in my opinion and the bathroom had all glass. Something to kite if you are traveling with friends and value your privacy. Otherwise, we liked our stay overall and would definitely choose this hotel again. The prices were reasonable even though we booked last minute. This hotel is super popular btw, so you will always see a good crowd at the bar and the nightclub downstairs.

They really do everything to make our stay great! The rooms are nice, the staff so very friendly. But the reason I give the rating I give is very simple.... The logistics and the small things compared to the other location they have not much further from the city center. But the amount of time to get to the center is the same due to the transportation option. Is not as convenient. Their parking garage is small and they charge 35 euros and is not even for 24 hours we had to take the car out at 1500 or 3 pm They had breakfast for free and that is amazing but the amount of inconvenience. We got lost looking for the tram... so much wasted time. The other location by the convention arena is much easier and the metro is right in front of it. They don't charge for parking and we were allowed to keep the car in the garage more than 24 hours. Over there is more expensive but the peace of mind is more important when on vacation... so I would not recommend this location.

Very good located, 15 minutes of very slow walk from Amsterdam Centraal station, you can easily make it even with heavy luggage. You will be close to restaurants such as Batavia 1920 and Steakhouse-Pizzeria Bellino, and the famous Zeedijk street with myriads of bars.... And, of course, to Red Light District. I used this boat hotel this time as a base for a couple of gigs at Paradiso. Paradiso is 30 minutes of walk away, but I knew the road. You can also use a tram. The rooms are basic. You have to wait a little bit on hot water. The steep stairs and bunk beds are not suited for elderly people. The girl at the reception is friendly and helpful (as well her cute little dog /who behaves like a cat/). There is no 24 recepetion, but don't worry: the dining/living room is open and well-lighted (and well heated as well!) all the time. You can help yourself from the fridge with beverages and you can take sweets on the counter. You will be trusted that you will pay the amount on the price-sign and put the money in the box. Free Wi-Fi in the living/dining room. Breakfast is basic, but good.
