Thanks to Steve X.'s review, I found this great budget hotel (40€ per night) close to work and…read moreother attractions. I was able to stay here for four nights, and I really enjoyed staying here. It almost feels like home. They have a huge common room, which is cozy and inviting. You could just spend plenty of time in the common room, and never see Amsterdam. Just kidding. Dennis is the owner and he has a great staff that help their guests. I got off from Tram 9 at the Waterlooplein stop and was lost. Also, I wasn't dressed warmly enough, so I thought I was going to die. One of Dennis' staff, Brent, was so nice to just pick me up where I was. Now, that is customer service. The rooms are basic, with twin bed, a TV and a sink in the room. There is also a safe in every room. You will have shared bathrooms and showers, but that is pretty standard across Europe. Breakfast is included, but nothing much for the vegetarian. They will however cook you eggs any way you want. Some other wonderful amenities, if you plan to stay here: Free coffee until 11pm every night (in the winter, this is a blessing) Kitchen to cook your food Fridge to store your perishables in the common room Free Wifi that works well in all rooms An excellent tourist guide in the lobby (Get Lost in Amsterdam) Bike rentals (15€ per day) Snack machine (which vends beer) Large TV in the common room (if that is your thing) Smoking allowed in rooms Free towels, just ask Hair blow dryer (if you ask) Tram 9, 10, 14 all close by. Nice local bars and restaurants in the area There are some other goodies on offer, but you should come stay here for yourself and learn about them in person. Sometimes, it is the experience in life that makes it all worthwhile. Note: CASH ONLY

In the room there is a one little sink , king size bed ( per 2 person ), one TV and a little wardrobe for your clothes. Room was really clean and warm. Showers and toilet were shared with others but they were always clean. Also the prices changes around (40 to 30) if you can find a special price from booking or another web site. Also there is wifi which can be really important ! Breakfast was really nice too. Also, staff is really helpful to us too. I really recommend. And return back for sure !

The lobby is clean with helpful & attentive workers. The rooms and bathrooms were decent size. The rooms provide you with basic needs- body wash, shampoo/conditioner. The hotel is located at the ship terminal and as a result it's a very convenient for travelers who are either planning to embark or disembark. However, it's also a wonderful hotel for anyone who wants to be located near the Amsterdam Central bus and train station. When we first arrived, we thought we were far away from the museums and restaurants but once we took a few minutes to study the tram schedules, the Number 26 stops at the Muziekgebouw ( their huge music concert hall) , which is next to the hotel. We were especially grateful to the wonderful concierge staff and Tina Maddaloni, who was the Manager on Duty and who helped provide us with such personalized service, you might have thought we we're returning guests! Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the water and parts of the city. When making your reservations, you should definitely ask to have their breakfast buffet included! I found the selection of breakfast items to be spectacular with everything from an omelette chef to vegetable smoothies. There were more stations of meats, salmon, cheeses as well as the largest honeycomb I'd ever seen! The dining area comprises over three large rooms with a large staff constantly cleaning up dishes and offering assistance. We also had dinner at the hotel one evening and we were surprised by how delicious our meals were. The hotel also brags about their homemade ice cream and we have to agree, it was spectacular! Before writing my review, I read some of the other Yelp comments. I'm always curious of the ones that are very negative and I guess it's impossible for a big hotel to make everyone ( always) happy. However, my wife and I were especially fortunate, since we hadn't done the research in advance but were very fortunate to have landed at such a classy hotel! The hotel also has an excellent 24 hour self service mart in the lobby with a great selection of beers, sandwiches and other treats.

I checked in and the person helping me was really friendly and told me about the complimentary breakfast and snacks throughout the day/night. She then showed me to my room, which was a double bed with a garden room. The room was spacious, chic, and clean, and the bed was comfortable as was the shower. The shower had a rain shower which was awesome, and the bathroom looked really new. I really enjoyed my stay, and I would stay there again!

There are NO elevators in this hotel so keep that in mind because it was built in the 1600s. I appreciated that the minifridge was empty so you can put your food in there from your outings, also the coffee machine made some good coffee! From this hotel, it is walking distance to probably everything and it was a short Uber ride to the train station. I recommend to get a canal view so you can see the boats coming by! Lastly I did forget my favorite leather jacket in the hotel after I checked out, and they were kind enough to mail it back to my home in the USofA. Thank you very much. =)
