Set design, costumes, choreography, singing, music, acting were all top notch. Some of the things you should know before you go. 1) Parking can be a challenge because they don't have their own garage. There are several garages nearby (about a block walking distance), but you will want to arrive really early to make sure you have time to find a space, make your way to the theater, and find your seat before the show starts. We were coming from Richardson, so we knew we would need over an hour to travel there, but because of the parking situation, we left even earlier at 11:30 am for a 1:30pm show time start. 2) The building is quite modern. They have several entrances, but you may be asked to wait on the street in the elements before they open the doors and start scanning tickets. Be prepared to stand in the elements. 3) The seats are quite narrow and the arm rest is shared with your seat mate. If you are an average sized American, you might find the average seats quite uncomfortable. The person next to me was blubbering through her seat into mine. She was also very enthusiastic tapping along with the beat. Both things were unpleasant for me. There are box seats that have independent chairs. If I return to this venue, I will pay for one of these to avoid feeling like a sardine. They have an amazing line up of shows. I wish they were closer because I would definitely be a season ticket holder so that I could enjoy every single one of their amazing shows.

Ridiculously inexpensive, especially when purchasing during preseason sale, 5 shows for the price of 3! But wait, there's more! Circle Theater is conveniently located in Sundance Square, walking distance to lovely indoor/outdoor dining and specialty shops if you happen to get downtown before the show. The theater is intimate and comfortable, the restrooms are clean and the other theater watchers range from young to seasoned. We have had some wonderful chats and have enjoyed people watching while sipping wine or coffee in the waiting area before the doors open. A couple tips if you're new to the theater or their season ticket holder experience... its a small operation (hence the great prices and quality of performances) so please be patient if there are initial misunderstandings. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. You won't get anything in the mail except maybe a calendar of shows. All ticket reservations are online or over the phone. Season ticket holders can reserve seats a week or two(?) prior to the show going on sale to the public - do it then to get good seats (although they're all good seats, it's intimate). We always reserve our seats for the next show while at the theater during the current show :) If you won't make a show and you have seats reserved - call before the show!! Or you'll lose your tickets. Lastly, there's different season rates based on day, time and area you want to sit in. Website has details if you drill down Hope this helps! An Unforgettable Night of Theatre…read more I recently saw Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical at the historic Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas, and it was an incredible experience. Many years ago, while serving as a soldier in Hawaii, I had the opportunity to see a professional production of Les Misérables in Honolulu. That experience stayed with me for decades and became my personal standard for what musical theatre could make an audience feel. I never expected a production in an intimate theatre in Grand Prairie to bring me back to that feeling, but it did. Somehow, this production made a smaller theatre feel like a full-scale Broadway experience. Director Michael Brown and the entire company created something special. The production flowed beautifully. The actors didn't simply enter, deliver their lines and leave. The production seemed to breathe. The music, lighting, costumes, movement, staging and performances all worked together to bring this dark Victorian world to life. Brendan Reimer, portraying both Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, was fascinating to watch. I have loved the story of Jekyll and Hyde since childhood, so watching one actor bring both sides of this character to life right in front of me was something I will remember for a long time. After the show, I had the opportunity to meet Brendan. After watching him portray so much darkness and conflict onstage, I found him to be kind, sincere and gracious. That conversation was a wonderful ending to an already remarkable evening. And I have to mention Poole! After a lifetime of being fascinated with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, somehow Poole became my favorite character of the night. I definitely didn't see that coming! To Michael, Brendan, the entire cast, musicians, lighting and sound teams, designers, technicians, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you for reminding me why I love theatre. From Les Misérables in Honolulu to Jekyll & Hyde in Grand Prairie, some performances simply stay with you. Five stars from me. What an unforgettable night. I saw Loop The Loop…read more Beautiful props, beautiful music (original composure by John Dyer,) and a beautiful story. The talent and artistic style of Lake Simmon's story telling is creative and thought provoking. She makes you think, and for me it took until the middle of the play to finally grasp what had been happening, and it was very well written. The play begins at the end, and then starts again at the beginning. It makes a loop, a loop which in the story is also compared to Coney Island's Loop The Loop ride. The loop that is life. The cowboy and the magician build a world of joy and amaze the crowds, the narcissistic cowboy impresses everyone with his sharp shooting, while the magician makes magic happen. Makes things happen when they need to happen and keeps their lives in order. The rabbits out of her hat is her ability to make things happen when they need to, the magic. And she carries the magician's hat, which could be a burden to others, with grace and happiness. Then as the carnival isn't as new, the lights starts to flicker and dim. The rabbits scatter, and can't be found. I'll let you come and enjoy this play for yourself to know the rest of the spectacularly written details. Please, come, enjoy a night of music and thought and be away from the rest of the world. This place is a hidden gem of Fort Worth's history. More people should know about it. Excellent play. I always know that when I see Lake's name next to a play, I can trust it will be good. And will have good music, as well.

My husband and I watched Pan Arcadia last night, it was a whimsical interpretation of the Peter Pan and Wendy story told by human actors as puppets (but also as themselves). I've got to admit I was very confused as to what was happening for many of the scenes but was able to get the general gist at the end. Let's just say- if you don't already know the Peter Pan story, I imagine you would be hopelessly lost. The live music was wonderful, fitting, soothing, and carried great for being in an outdoor theater. The acting was very sincere. Since you are exposed to the elements you might notice huge insects and spiders but they at least offer complimentary bug spray around the premises. This is a novel way to do date night and definitely worth a try.

Consequently, they're now drawing a larger and more talented pool of actors, directors, and designers to their ranks, as well as fans from all over Dallas/Fort Worth and beyond. There are ample opportunities to volunteer and be involved in the process. However, if you're content to view the finished product, their show seasons always offer a variety of musicals and straight plays, comedy and drama, edginess and family-friendly fare. No, they're not perfect, but they are certainly doing some promising things.
