If working out was only as eating as inserting a pizza emoji to Dominos then I would be working out a lot more often. Luckily for me I've found a studio that truly pushes me and makes me want to hit up the studio. More importantly... I'm not being forced with a taser behind my back and on 100mg of Vicodin in order to be coerced. This studio is very personable and isn't some Mega Gym you'd find on the movie Dodgeball. You can find one cycling room inside here with about 35 bikes. If you don't have the standard cycling shoes, no need to fear, as plenty of their bikes have shoe straps. No uptight or snooty staff here! Everyone is super nice and are more than willing to help you. If it's your first or thirtieth time don't hesitate to ask them to adjust your bike. They're also super nice and if you show up a few minutes late they'll guide you to your bike with a flashlight since the lights are turned off. The classes are high intensity but the results are in the sweat. You will feel motivated and pushed in your class and the music is truly upbeat. Cycling is probably one of my favorite cardio exercises and I'm happy to say I've drank the JoyRide kool-aid juice. read more

WOW! Joyride you rocked my cycling world. I will be honest, I was in town for work and convinced a coworker to go with me because the first class is free. (Also note to ALL Fitness Studios: All first classes should be free - people have to know if it's right for them!) We drove there from dt San Antonio and circled the building until we realized where the studio was located. We then parked inside the garage and walked right into the main lobby & into JoyRide. We were promptly greeted by friendly staff members, given a brief run down and then we rented cycling shoes they had on hand. (They have bathrooms with showers, self locking cubbies, water station, merch & drink cooler in the lobby areas.) We went into the studio which was, for the most part, pretty plain and simple. I enjoyed the three tiers of the studio with how the bikes were set up. The instructor (Heather) was AMAZING. Never have I had a class that was this kick ass and inspiring. Joyride has a great first ride free option, so a friend and I tried the studio together on a Sunday morning. First - it gets PACKED! Reserve your specific seat online in advance or you may not get one. The instructor was just ok and started the class late. The music was too loud for me and actually hurt. But, the studio was nice, clean, it was great to have the stadium seating so you could always see the instructor, and there were people walking around to help you get setup at the start of class. I think I might just have to give it a shot with a different instructor, as the studio really does seem to care about it's customers. read more

Admittedly I'm a fan. I was quite nervous and had been procrastinating going for weeks. I bought the groupon over a month ago but I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to keep up. Finally bit the bullet and signed my husband and I up for the free "first" class this past Sunday with JoJo at 10:30. I was hesitant even through showing up as I didn't really know what to expect. Though there were people of all ages, shapes and sizes waiting for the class so that did make me feel better. That I wasn't too old or too out of shape to be able to enter the room :-) JoJo and the staff were very nice and friendly visiting with us before the class. We added the Groupon information to our accounts so that now we'll be able to come back for the 5 classes we've purchased to see if this could be something that we would like long term. After we left our first session, we both agreed it was fun, motivating, exhausting and a variety of other feelings all wrapped into one. I like the fact that there is a 3 tier stage. It allows you to see the instructor no matter where you are in the room. Of course I opted for the way back in the corner where no one could see me. Once the lights went down and the class started, no one could see you regardless of where you were! Which I personally enjoyed. It allowed you to be less self conscious and really focus on why you were there. To be healthy and have some fun. We are definitely looking forward to going back! I'm an avid cycling fan to begin with and used to street race back in the day. With the growth of the cycling studios, we'd been wanting to check this out and we are glad we did. Both my wife and I enjoyed the ride and we'll definitely be back. Nothing beats being out on the street cycling but this way you definitely don't have to worry about the outside elements so its a win-win. We attended Jo-Jo's class and she was awesome. Definitely kept you motivated throughout the ride and it's nice that you can push yourself however much you want. It doesn't matter what the person next to you is doing...it's dark and you put as much effort into it as you want. The fun of having a class is that you get the group atmosphere but you can also push yourself at different intervals to make the takeaway customized to your energy and fitness level. The layout is nice, temperature was just right and the staff is very helpful. Looking forward to making this part of our regular exercise routine. Already have the next class booked! read more

Anybody who knows me knows that Joyride is my happy place! I can come here in any mood...even my "grumpy pants" mood and I will leave with a way better attitude plus positive energy for the week. Something about being in the dark, with great music, pushing yourself to the limits, and the positive "words of wisdom" from the instructor at the end of class that really provides you with a soulful cleanse. I recommend Joyride to all; I want everybody to have this experience. The world would be a better place if we could all have this experience a minimum of once a week. I am a poor educator so I am not able to afford the unlimited membership but just being able to go once a week gives me the positive vibes I need. I have rode at Joyride via a 10-Class Groupon once before which I believe you can renew after 6 months of not being active; because I could not wait that long to get my Joyride fix I am currently riding via ClassPass (http://class.ps/mTD1d) which is as low as $30/per month. The $30 p/month membership will give you 2 rides (@6 credits per class) and maybe tryout Black Swan Yoga down the street to use the rest of your monthly credits. As a frequent to both the Alon and Broadway locations, you could say I'm a Joyride addict. Joyride finds the most motivational and positive instructors in San Antonio to lead their energy-packed classes. Among my favorite instructors have been Jojo, Colleen, Magen, and Wes. They have several classes each day, so whether you workout in the mornings or evenings, there's a class for you! The first class is free, so if you've been dying to try a spin class, this is the place that will get you hooked! Clip-on shoes are available for rent, but every bike also has the caged pedal option, so no need to have cycling shoes. There are also lockers to store your belongings if you are uncomfortable with leaving them in the cubbies. The showers are nice, and there is typically soap, shampoo, hairspray, and other basic necessities to freshen up after an intense sweat session. The only downside is that Broadway's showers are within bathrooms that can be only be occupied by one person at a time, as opposed to the spatious locker/shower/bathrooms at Alon. If you've been meaning to spice up your exercise routine, you definitely need to check out either Joyride locations. In town for worked and dropped in for early morning class. Had fun and got sweaty! Plenty of parking in the garage as well as two full restrooms with showers and lockers. The bikes here have the little shifter which is always awesome too! I can't really complain since it was free as my first class but the vibe wasn't the best. There were just too many people doing their own thing in class such as the older man on the bike next time me who didn't even seem to be aware he was in a group class and people leaving way too early. It really isn't a fault of the instructor or gym so much but honestly if you go to class here or any spin class, respect the class and follow along. read more

I took my first spin class on Wednesday for the Beyoncé "Homecoming" class. I was so pumped that they were doing a Beyoncé class. Since it was my first class, it was free which was amazing! We got to the studio a little early and they were so friendly and accommodating. As I entered the room, the instructor helped set up my bike to ensure I was comfortable. There was a very short warm up and it was crazy town. Not in a bad way but a super hard work out. For the first time in a spin class, I didn't know if I would make it. It was a 60 minute class so I had to really channel endurance and stamina. The instructor remained positive and even came by to help me with form during the class. I left the class exhausted but with positive energy. Only suggestion would be to have a longer runway during the warm up. I'm going to explore other classes and look forward to being back soon. read more

I'm not Joyride's demographic. I don't own a Yeti tumbler, had no idea cycling shoes were a thing and I'll admit right here and now, I don't think I've ever been in a lululemon. BUT I do love feeling the burn of doing high intensity cardio so I grabbed a friend and signed up for one of their Sunday morning classes. The reception area is tiny but cute and very much fits the definition of "boutique fitness." They have two bathroom + shower options that are ultra clean and modern but I'd imagine there's a bit of a wait for them after a class. After signing in, we were led to our reserved bikes and the super helpful staff adjusted them for us (I must have had that "I have no idea what I'm doing" look). The room itself is about three rows of stadium-style bikes set up facing a mirror. Be sure to get there a little early because when the instructor hops on her bike, the lights dim significantly. Which I'm a huge fan of! Who wants to see their cardio face in the mirror? Not this girl. Our instructor was on point! She welcomed us newbies by name and explained the different positions we were going to transition to. Class starts and boom, it was 45 minutes of EDM synced runs, motivational shouts and so. so. so much sweat. I'm in love! Warning, if you're not a regular cycler, your butt will be sore the next day in an almost invasive way. If you're on the fence, give these guys a shot. First class is free! read more

Joy Addict. There, I said it. I am a joy addict. Joyride is a place for those who want to sweat it all out and rock it all out. The music is upbeat, loud, and compliments the dedicated instructors who want you to get moving. The bikes are new. The whole studio is new. There is a shower, and large bathrooms to change in. They also sell inspiring gear to spread the joy. My favorite part is the staff. Without them, it would be just another spin class. From the time you walk in, you are met with smiling faces from the front desk and management. The instructors are energetic and motivating with the way they keep riding hard without missing a beat! I had a good workout but it didn't live up to all the hype. The instructor was wonderfully full of energy- it wasn't her energy. I also liked the assistants that guided me to the bike and helped snap on shoes. I appreciated the hair ties, free lockers, and mints. A good place to get your cardio in. Really is. However...The room was cold. They had "limited shoe rental sizes" so I had to wear a men's large size and my heel slipped out non-stop plus they charged me full rental price of $5. They claimed to not have my card on file, after I set it up pre ride. The bikes were distant from each other so that feeling of synchronized cycling rhythm was missing. People were sloppy riding at all different beats. We were never told to "feel the beat" so maybe that was the point idk.The speaker system was muffley so she sounded like she was yelling and I basically had no idea what was being said. The music was God awful terrible and old jams. Clearly no license for current BPM or non relevant music. The magic wasn't there...the SoulCycle kind of magic...the spiritual kind of sweat your ass off and love life feeling is missing. read more

Joyride is a great workout option for San Antonians and is definitely a step above other studios here. The location is near the Pearl and is easy to find; parking is also available in the garage adjacent to the studio. All of the staff was friendly and welcoming. My only issue in that regard is that no one explained the process to my friend who was a new rider (ie. How to set up the bike, the lockers, etc). I enjoyed the class, but I didn't find it quite as challenging as other spin studios I've attended. It was a little confusing to figure out how much resistance to take on and off after every song. They also count the rhythm with, "1,2" instead of, "right, left", so it's a little more difficult to find the beat. They also use a bar instead of weights for each hand, which was a fun change and a good workout for arms. Overall, I think it was a good workout and is setting the bar for what future San Antonio studios will strive to be like. I would definitely return. read more

This was my first time at spin classes at this location so I was very nervous. The set up seems comparable to most other places have been set it. I liked that you can look online and reserve the bike you want to sit at. It's definite a no/judgment zone. Everyone goes at there own pace....just don't stop. If you need to then just decrease the resistance down, but keep pedaling. It's all just a fun exercise and you can make it as hardcore as you want. The prices are the only thing that's a little bit of a bummer. After you do the more in depth plans that's when it gets more costly. Hopefully by then you can decided if buying an individually class or a membership is better for you. The setup for the facility, the cleanliness, and staff here were great to give up anything we need. read more

Love this place! I always feel refreshed and five pounds lighter after I leave. Warning: you will sweat ALOT! The first class is free so you have a chance to try it out first. They help first time riders set up their bike etc. and you don't need cycle shoes you can wear regular tennis shoes. There are two private bathrooms for you to shower when you're done. They also have lockers that have the locks built in. There is free parking in the mosaic parking garage for patrons. Classes run around 22$ a session and the sessions run 30 min-60 min depending on which class you choose. If you buy 10 sessions at a time I believe it's just $19 Some suggestions for mgmt: There is no food for sale which is unfortunate because most of us are on the go and sometimes forget to eat especially in the extremely early morning hours. I don't really like that I have to wipe down my bike after I use it. I've lived in Austin and NYC and every cycle place I've been to has a cleaning person. At the price I'm paying you should have the girls/guys at the front desk do this. At the very least when there are two of them working. read more

Let me just start out by saying I've been a dancer my whole life. Dancing is my passion as well as one of the ways I stay fit. Other than that, I run and do some barre classes. Until I tried Joyride, that is. This dancer is now a cycling convert!! Oh my goodness, the JOY they talk about at Joyride is no joke! I have become addicted. The music, the positive, contagious energy of the instructors and community. I love getting my sweat on here!! It's such a great workout and way easier on my joints than running. I love it! The classes are on the pricey side, but it is understandable with how well the studio is put together with all the newest equipment. The theme rides are so much fun! I was already excited about the rides, but when I discovered the theme rides it just gives me something extra special to look forward to in my week. Insisted that new members must be in early to learn about the bike. They didn't care that I have done 100+ classes at Soul Cycle in NYC. Very unprofessional. Took my boss here as we decided it's the year of getting out of our comfort zone. I'm an Orange Theory girl so I was excited to try something different. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful getting us set up. They explained the class and got us set up as quick as they could as the classes were really close together in time. It started super quick after so I didn't have a ton of time to get comfortable. I wasn't able to hear the instructor as well since it was super loud and muffled at times so I was just winging it. I think I was so focused on what he was saying, I couldn't figure out the proper form. Thus making my work out under par. Didn't get the sweat or soreness I was hoping for. They really got me with the ColdPlay/Rihanna Slay session. I found this place via Groupon and highly recommend you test the waters via Groupon to $ave your money if you are new to cycling. It's significantly cheaper than the regular rate. Like, do it! You make a JoyRide account and then login to reserve a numbered bike for a specific day and time. There are different class types available and sometimes it will tell you which artists are on the playlists to help you pick a class (who wants to be stuck listening to bad music? Not me!) I picked a 5:30am and it was great! I'm in the process of making myself a morning person, btw, and this class wasn't as hard to make as I thought it would be. The instructor, Danna (awesoooommme), sent an email the night before that really did help me wake up and go. She would remind the class to keep good posture and encouraged you to put in more effort. She was full of positive energy that made me wake up and stay positively, productive throughout the day. While cycling, I felt like I was in a club with a bike at 530am with a bunch of other cool kids. It was so much fun ‍. The bathrooms were spacious and everything was clean. Not sure how many people fight for the two showers after class as I had time to go home and shower. Overall, I highly recommend! read more

Joyride is the best studio in town IMO. I don't mind that they do not offer metrics, this is because Joyride consistently offers the best class content and instructors! These classes are all about you and how you want yourself to perform. So, really, your body is your metric. I just joined Joyride and LOVE IT!!! I have taken spin at several Gyms in the past, but the instructors here at AMAZing!!! They are always motivating and upbeat.....even at 5:30 am. The cost is a bit higher than I expected, but worth it for such dedicated, motivating staff.
