I have been going to physical therapy here and at Physical Therapy of Richardson (same owner) for…read morealmost 9 months. I was in a really bad motorcycle accident last year so I've received treatment for my legs, back, shoulders, and arms. Carolyn Sink is awesome! So are all of the PT assistants. I had been going to Baylor and was really unhappy with the quality of treatment, but Carolyn completely changed my views on physical therapy. She is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and she has helped me tremendously in my recovery. Furthermore, the clinic is a fun place to be and everyone there has a great sense of humor. The banter alone makes me look forward to my next visit. I highly recommend Physical Therapy of Plano. Oh, one more thing. I have met many other patients there over the past 9 months, and for the most part everyone seems to me to be quite satisfied with their treatment.

I really enjoy coming here for my shoulder therapy. The staff is super friendly and the environment…read moreis really comfortable. I've made some great progress with Stephanie and I feel like she really does give a shit. Lol The only thing that pissed me off is that before I started coming here I provided my insurance information see how much my therapy would be costing me. They told me that my insurance went through and I would pay $30 per visit. Excellent. So I started going for the next 2 months. Then I got a call from the receptionist saying that there was a mix up with my insurance number and that I actually have to pay a deductible of $90 per visit. And that I would be receiving a bill for the difference for the past 2 months! This has caused quite a problem for me and has substantially delayed my recovery. I'm not sure whose fault it is, it just really sucks.

I've been to physical therapy before. But not like this. Before, the therapist showed me the…read moreexercises and was there to answer my questions on how to do the exercises. After that, I was left alone to wonder if I was making any headway. None of them were doctors and I got the impression that I was just an insurance payment. Dr. Miller McVay is different. Totally different. He and his staff are totally involved in my rehabilitation. From warm-up to healing therapy leading to strengthening and restoring range of motion, they are committed to my well-being. I usually get an hour and a half out of an hour session, then ice. I actually feel better, even if the therapy sometimes hurts (he watches my face for clues to how far he can push me). In addition, Miller (yes, he's a regular guy) explains the medical side to me, including what the various therapies target and the expected result. Clearly, he cares about my progress and my healing. I'm glad I happened upon McVay Physical Therapy and Wellness when I needed physical therapy.

I got an Rx for this place through Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine & Spine Center. This place is by Rx only - you can't just show up and hope your insurance will cover it. From the outside at a glance, it could be a gym. They have lots of "workout" machines visible from the window. Upon closer inspection, they also have lot of tables and people doing... well, rehab-y looking exercises. :) I had a 3 PM appt, and I'm glad I didn't plan to come back to the office. I was told the visit would take some time, and it did. I had to wait for a bit, but not too long. Then I was called back and answered a bunch of the same questions and gave the same rundown that I'd given at Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine. They guy evaluated the flexibility of my legs and a few pain points, and we started working on some stretches. It was all very laid back, and I never felt rushed. I felt like I was being paid plenty of attention for my issue. I got lots of good tips, including how to avoid over-paying for stretching straps. There was no pressure to schedule another appt because stretching was the solution to my problems, and I could stretch at home. So he left a follow-up appt to me, if my pain continued and I wasn't seeing progress, etc. The guy was personable, easy to talk to, and very laid back the whole time - while very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Everyone else in there looked well-attended to as well. For being a rehab place that could be dismal and depressing, it had a good vibe. Funny note. This place is right next to a crossfit place and in the same parking lot as True Spirits (best liquor store in North Dallas). So you can get drunk, go attempt crossfit, and then come get some rehab after you hurt yourself! What a combo! That's some smart planning right there...
