Love at first bite! I tell ya, nothing makes me happier than a top notch mom & pop joint. We popped into Amore Pizza tonight for the first time to pick up supper after a fun filled afternoon at the Woodlands splash park. Amore Pizza replaced Grandin Pizza and opened its doors 3 weeks ago. Lawrence, the owner, and his wife are longtime St. Albertans familiar with the neighborhood. They were both super friendly and personable. We decided to pop home during the 30 minute wait but could have easily stayed and chatted more. We decided to bring home a super Donair with cheese (deseeded fresh jalapeños, homemade Donair sauce, and house prepped meat), an XL pepperoni & pineapple, and an XL feta kalamata pizza. The restaurant is small - a delivery and to go kind of place. They've made it their own with fresh paint and an homage to Uncle Dean if you catch my drift ;-) The deets: The Donair was superb and very fresh tasting. In fact all their food was very fresh tasting. Nothing was drenched in sauce. It's like they but quality ingredients and want each flavour to stand out on it's own. I had requested jalapeños or hot sauce and was pleasant surprised to find fresh and deseeded jalapeños in the Donair - yum! The pizza also had a rather indescribable way of tasting super fresh! The pepperoni was quality and the kalamata olives were a plenty! The crust was chewy goodness cooked to perfection. The tomato sauce tasted clean and fresh. This definitely is not a place with loads of seasoning and spice - just clean and fresh goodness. My only suggestion would be to do a little something to the crust to give it some pizazz. Maybe brush with a garlic oil? Not quite sure, just found that I was wishing the crust had a little kick. Also, there was a surprise Greek salad with our meal. Our family was impressed at the amount of toppings throughout the salad and the lightness to it. Again, each individual flavour stood out! The house Greek dressing was smooth and gentle contrasted against the sharp red onions, feta, red peppers, cucumbers, and kalamata olives. If I were allowed to do 4.5 stars I would because I just need the crust to have a little something extra but Lawrence and his Mrs. Definitely bring it up to a 5 star review! They offer 10% off for pick up, free delivery over $20, and pizza by the dulce at lunch time. Prices were perfect for a meal to bring home (just shy of $40) with plenty of leftovers for the kiddos' lunches tomorrow! We will DEFINITELY be back! read more

Wow this place has great pizza! So good that I drove almost 20 minutes for it....two weekends in a row. I was looking for a good pizza place on Yelp and found Amore. I have lived in St. Albert for 9 years and never heard of it. I decided to give it a shot and it sure was a good call. My kids are young and are pretty picky eaters. They LOVED this pizza. We had a couple pepperoni pizzas and the kids couldn't get enough. The pizza crust wasn't to heavy and had a nice crisp to it. There was a good amount of cheese on the pizzas and the toppings were plentiful. We had the salt and pepper chicken wing and we liked those too. They were seasoned just right and had a good crispiness to them. The Greek salad was so good! There is lettuce in the Greek salad along with the other staples of Greek salad. The full size order comes with an order of garlic toast too! We will definitely be ordering from here again. It's totally worth the drive to visit this hidden gem of St. Albert. Had a couple of buddies over last night to watch the Oilers game and drink a few beers. We decided to order some pizza and I suggested we try Amore based on reviews I have read here on Yelp. It was a really good pizza... reminds me of the pizza you get at those "old school" steak and pizza spots like Capital or Coliseum. We ordered two large, a meat lovers and a pepperoni & mushroom. Plentiful toppings and cheese, dense crunchy crust, arrived hot and delicious. Delivery time was fast as well. My only two gripes were the pizza sauce (I wish there had been more of it... I can't really even comment how it was as it was used so sparingly you really didn't taste it) and that it seemed a tad expensive ($52 after driver tip for two pizzas delivered). There are two amazing donair shops in town, Simply and Amore. What I love about Amore is that, well, just like their name, the food is made from LOVE. They make their donair meat from scratch! Not just one of those rotating hunks of beef under a heat lamp, they make a loaf from all fresh ingredient and bake it in an oven. The service may be slow, but that's because LOVE is going into every meal they make, with quality, fresh ingredients that leads not just to a great tasting meal, but also leaves your stomach feeling the LOVE too. The owners are the sweetest, and I've always had a great experience. We are staying in St. Albert for a 2 Week Mandatory isolation and decided to order a donair loaf and all meat pizza from Amore. The person taking the order was very helpful and the delivery guy was outstanding. While my wife thought the Donai sauce was a little too sweet, I loved it. The all meat pizza was possibly the BEST we have ever eaten. I asked for a little extra sauce and turned out perfect " no charge". A definite yes and great place in St. Albert. read more

Omgosh yum! Donair with homemade fries! They use a special potato and vinegar in their oil. Whatever they do - amazeballs! No proper full seating but a little bar table and stools so more of a take out. Truly glad to find this on Yelp :) read more

I was surprised one day when I saw Grandin Pizza had closed and Amore opened shortly after. We ordered a cheese pizza and a ham, pepperoni and black olive pizza. A great little pizza place that's not part of a large chain, located in the Grandin neighbourhood of St. Albert. We found this place after searching for pizza restaurants on Yelp and saw some excellent reviews. The reviews were accurate. Great pizza, ample toppings and not too greasy, made for a great Friday night pizza and TV night. They have plenty more than pizza on their menu, which I will definitely try next time I order. I wanted delivery and was craving Donair. Unfortunatly simply Donairs did not deliver. I tried the Super Donairs tonight from Amore. Wish I was not so lazy tonight . Donair pita was dry, crumbling and falling apart. The sauce was that premade plastic crap. Cmon guys what happened to rice vineger , real cream mixture??? Thought it was a Veggie wrap, almost non existent in meat. Donairs were cold, meat was dry and hard. I have tasted 30-40 different Donairs. This was a very big stand out for the 2nd to 3rd worst Donair. Never tried the pizza here. that might be good. They should give up on Donairs. read more

All I have to say is "wow!" We ordered pizza on Friday and every bite was a rush of flavours. Mmmmm! Just tried for the first time today. The one pizza we got was good the other was teribble. It had shrimp and tasted like raw smelly shrimp. When I called the girl was very nice but when she talked to the chef I could hear everything he was saying and was obviously upset that we didn't think the shrimp was good. He said that there was no possible way it could not be good and continued to tell her that we were ridiculous and all he was going to do was make a new pizza for us. At this point I didn't want anything from him after the way he was speaking I wouldn't trust him to make my pizza. read more
