While visiting San Diego, I stopped by this spot for a coffee and a crepe. The space itself is quite nice--spacious and comfortable, making it a good place to hang out. However, the service left a lot to be desired. There was only one person managing everything, and despite no one being ahead of me, it took over 20 minutes to receive my order. The wait felt especially long for something as simple as a coffee and a crepe. The coffee was good, but the crepe was just average. It was larger and thicker than expected, which didn't really work in its favor. This place was so cute, I loved the chill energy inside! The noise levels were low so it was a great place to catch up with my friend. We honestly stumbled upon this place while walking by and really enjoy the energy and color scheme. It seemed so peaceful inside. We ordered some delicious decaf drinks and I had their veggie focaccia. The focaccia bread was amazing, to fluffy and the herds and oil on the bread was so fragrant and delicious. They also stuffed the sandwich so full, it ended ip being so much food, I should have ate it for two meals. All of their ingredients were so fresh and high quality. I would be interested to try their other menu items! The sandwich was a bit pricy at 14.50 but they did not skimp on the quality. I thought it was so cool that they had a free library in the shop, one where you can take a book and leave a book. I love the feeling of community that it puts into the space. Plus an announcement board that you can hang local happenings on. There is plenty of space to hang with friends, read a book, or study. Haven't written a review in a while, but this one is well deserved. Ireland rang us up and confidently said it was the best crepe they've ever made and they were absolutely right. It was delicious! This was a pretty cute place. There were a ton of hip girl patrons so you can totally tell people only go for vibes. However staff was really nice and accommodating. I don't think you had to pay any extra for milk variances and the food menu looked really good. I got a blueberry matcha latte and watched her hand muddle half a cup of fresh blueberries! And then froth matcha! And then they were nice enough to split my drink into two cups because I got a large to split with my kid and then forgot that she was actually sick at the time and we were not sharing germs. My group of three visited Amore Cafe at about noon on a busy Sunday (3/16/25). We tried going to Hash House a Go-Go because I saw an article about them recently and I haven't been there in years. But the parking situation was impossible. No reservations were available and there was a line of people out the door. So we ended up at Cafe Amore primarily because they had a parking lot. Parking lot is free for 15 minutes for customers of Jamba Juice and the Amore Cafe. We paid about $5 for an hour and were able to have lunch in that time with no problem. There was no available street parking in the vicinity. We drove around the block to check. We ordered at the counter and sat down in the mostly empty restaurant. I was surprised how empty it was on a busy Sunday, but grateful that we were the only people there. The young woman working the counter was friendly and helpful, and had a charming Turkish accent. I order chilaquiles whenever I see them on the menu. These chiliques were very good and were obviously prepared with care. It's so fun to get to meet the cook. My dish was the last to be brought out...by the cook himself. Said he hoped I would enjoy it. And I did. I got the green sauce because they said it was less spicy than the red sauce, but I tried the red sauce and it was not that spicy either. I preferred the green sauce. I like the flavor. My chiliquiles with two over-medium eggs and a small coffee came out to about 23 dollars with a dollar tip. I usually don't pay quite that much for breakfast, but I was only able to eat half. So I have another meal. The prices were fair especially for the large servings. There was no surcharge for the eggs. The cafe decor was a little cold...a lot of blue tile. But it was softened with lots of bright artificial flowers and a cool wall of brightly colored posted notes. There was a nook containing games you could play while you were there. Memo's charm, manners, detailed descriptions of drinks and pastries is on point! His golden milk that he made for me was top notch!!!! So rich, smooth, creamy and cracked pepper on top, incredible!!! We ate next door and on our way back to the car we saw this place. What caught my attention were the yelp pictures of the strawberry foam matcha. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. While waiting for some food at a nearby restaurant, my boyfriend and I decided to pop into Amore Caffe for some drinks! The first thing I noticed was how many unique and appealing options were available on the menu. Despite being tempted by a couple of different options, I ended up choosing a strawberry foam matcha. Whilst waiting for the drink I walked around the cafe a little bit. The drink came out very quickly. On my way to the car, I took some sips. The foam was sweet enough to compliment the matcha but not too sweet. The matcha drink itself had a bold flavor but wasn't bitter. Overall, it had a perfect balance. This busy corner in Hillcrest used to be the home of Starbucks so it surprised me that this local cafe took over and became its replacement. A sidewalk sign noted there was free 15 minute parking located around the block which was useful to know. A few tables in front of the south facing windows and a countertop along the west facing windows were available for on-site seating. The list of coffees, lattes, teas, and specialty drinks were shown on the wall behind the service counter. They were also displayed on the menu sheets at the counter. For food, there were sandwiches, bagels, croissants, salads, crepes, and ice cream/gelato. Of the seven sandwiches, I selected a Spicy Turkey which had lettuce, tomato, onion, provolone, bacon, avocado, and spicy mayo to dress up the spicy slices of turkey. I asked for the bread to be ciabatta (versus focaccia) and for the sandwich to be panini pressed. A dill pickle spear was added on the side of the plate as a garnishment. The product was alright, somewhere between a three and four star level. The service was very polite and efficient while the space was clean and well-kept. One worker even wiped down the countertop before I took a seat there to consume my sandwich. I rounded my overall rating for Amore Caffe to four stars because of the staff. read more

Amore Caffee on Robinson and 5th is among the latest to open in the area. Limited street parking close by as well as the pay to park lot across the street in the Rite Aid lot. Evidently, this space was previously occupied by Starbucks and now occupied by Amore Caffe. I have a Love Hate relationship with Starbucks so I'm glad this new cafe opened. So far, on every occasion I've visited, the staff were nice, helpful and accommodating towards me and my pup Fendi and other customers with their dogs. No outdoor patio seating, just Interior seating only with window facing stools and tables with banquet seating. Decor is simple and overall the space is bright and clean. Menu is limited and recently changed. I asked about the contents of the 'Amore Latte,' since the menu doesn't describe it in detail, but the barista staffer didn't know either :(. He said the staff were not informed about such detail yet?! :(( Hot and cold drinks of coffees, teas, gelato, pastries, sandwiches and some breakfast foods. I was disappointed Affogato was not listed on the menu; they have gelato and espresso, so why not offer Affogato? I mentioned it to the staffer and suggested they edit the menu to include Affogato, because that's what I was craving.m and they have the ingredients: gelato + espresso. I cannot comment on the pastries and prepared foods offered on the menu, which I haven't tried. Pastries are Not made in house and never looked fresh fresh :( However, the coffee drinks I have had were very good. My favs are the hot charcoal latte and the espresso. Both prepared forté ie strong just as I like it. Caffeine taste was spot on, and not acidic after taste..perfetto perfect. Perhaps with the correction edits I pointed out will be made in the near future. Meanwhile, this little shop is still a worthwhile visit to try and see whether it's Love at First Sip... We wanted to support this local coffee shop, but our experience at Amore was disappointing. During our visit around 12:30 pm on Tuesday 01/27/26, the barista treated regular customers noticeably better than others, which felt unwelcoming. Communication was poor--she raised her hand at me without explanation, as if I was expected to understand. The matcha was also low quality, tasting mostly like sugar with very little matcha flavor. Great new coffee shop and cafe. It's in the old Starbucks building on 5th and Robinson Ave. I stopped in early and had the young lady make me a cortado and the Avocado Croissant. Think avocado toast but on a croissant. The cortado was $5, and the avocado croissant was $10. They use Cafe Moto, so I expected a strong cordato, and that was what I got. It was well made. It was definitely rich and flavor, smooth for the most part, with a touch of bitterness towards the end. I asked them not to put the demi-glaze on my avocado croissant, but they did put olive oil. The croissant came with freshly sliced avocados, which I liked very much, and a heap of arugulal and parmesan cheese. The tomatoes they used were freshly cut as well. All in all, it was a very tasty avocado croissant. Oh yes, the croissant was of very good quality, too. The service was very friendly. Sina was very friendly and offered great conversation. On multiple occasions, my drink has arrived without any safety seal, which is unacceptable. When I brought it up, the only solution offered was for me to come pick it up myself. What's the point of paying for delivery if I still have to come get it? That defeats the entire purpose. If I wanted to pick it up, I would have just ordered it that way. AMAZING Okay so the coffee is divine! The sweetener doesn't taste fake or cheap, the spirulina on amore latte makes the drink so pretty as well! The cold brew is strong and smooth definitely recommend it. I also had the Latino sandwich on focaccia bread, the bread was so fresh and soft as if it was made this morning and the chicken in the sandwich was fresh as well, it was shredded chicken. It's a pretty big sandwich so you might share it or if you're hungry enough like me eat the whole thing. The service was really good, everything is made fresh and they were patient with me taking a while to pick my order as this was my first time. The ambience was really nice and not too loud like better buzz, there is a whole row of tables with charging connections, so this would be a good place to study or do work on a laptop. Hubby got a hot latte and I got a iced cinnamon coffee with oat milk and it was pretty gross, it tasted like milk not a hint of coffee. The ambiance is pretty mellow. Doesn't seem to get busy. For it not being busy, the place could've been cleaner. Tables needed a wipe, floors looked dirty could've been swept & mopped & restroom looks like it isn't too taken care of. Amore Caffe is a new place in Hillcrest which is located on Robinson and 5th (where Starbucks used to be). I came with my daughter and found out they opened a few weeks ago. Their menu has crepes, coffees, teas, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. The crepe is a build your own so my daughter chose banana and marshmallows with Nutella. Their station is right at the corner so it was fun for her watching it being made. They're dog friendly too. A few customers came in with dogs and the staff have my daughter a doggie treat to give to one of them. They have a wall near the restroom to add notes which was pretty cool. Several people coming in went straight to the wall to add some notes. Staff is really friendly, and they're open till 6/7 pm which is a lot later than I thought. read more

The spot that use to be a Starbucks has finally been taken over and remodeled into a beautiful new caffe called Amore and it is already a hit. I decided to stop by with a friend to check it out and we will definitely be back. They not only have great coffee and tea drinks but they also have a great food menu with massive sandwiches, gelato, and crêpes. I dove into the "From the Sea" sandwich which is their tuna sandwich, we definitely should have shared because it was way bigger than I thought but it was so good! I tried out their specialty shaken espresso for my drink. Great news they also have wifi and a few tables inside so you can enjoy a great meal and work while you are there! I decided to treat myself and stop on by the new cafe I'd spotted recently while driving to work. The bright smile I was greeted with immediately lifted my spirits. I ordered the honey cinnamon latte and the honey bee bagel. OH MY GOD. The quality of the food. The complex delicious flavors of prosciutto, apple, honey, cream cheese: I AM IN LOVE! But my favorite part? The latte came to me with the MOST ADORABLE design. 'tis the season ;) And the pride beaming from each employee was obvious. Great atmosphere. Beautiful venue. I appreciate that they used a handheld blender for the Mexican mocha but it did not blend well. The espresso tasted burnt on the latte too.
