First of all, this is a startup trying to fill the gap in the African food desert of Baltimore downtown. This place is not all that put together guessing by the local, but it does offer excellent surprises. When I went in, there wasn't anyone else outside except for a friendly woman who was presumably the owner, but eventually a few other people came in, either to eat in or to take out. For food, I went with fir-fir, or fit-fit, a mixture of shredded injera and other ingredients. I thought about getting the $19.99 Kwanta Firfir, made with stewed beef and sun-dried beef, but instead went with the slightly cheaper Beef Firfir for $17.00, or spicy beef stew tossed with injera. The plate was pretty big, with the whole stew served on a large piece of that spongy, sour bread. Otherwise, the beef inside was pretty tender, and there were pieces of injera mixed with the stew along with some peppers. There was a nice mix of spices, and it was indeed moderately spicy, but not too overpowering. The injera helped soak up all the flavors and was good quality. Overall, I liked it a lot. Soon enough, I paid for the check and left.

The server asked if we wanted to order from the menu or the lunch buffet. I had no idea what was being served at the lunch buffet, but I knew for sure I wanted to taste the curry goat. The curry goat as an entree was $19.99, and the lunch buffet was $17.99. The server suggested that my husband and I try the buffet so we could taste everything, and that we order from the menu next time I visit. I'm so happy she suggested that. The menu itself was big and it had so many things to chose from . Now lets talk about this lunch buffet, but before I do that, let me share that, I shared with the server that I didn't want to go look at the buffet options because I didn't want to look at the food and others get the wrong idea, so she took the liberty of walking me to the buffet and showing me each item, detailing what it was and the flavor it encompassed, I can't express how much I appreciate her doing that. The buffet menu had so many great options, including chicken masala, curry goat, and so much more. The curry goat was my favorite, the meat was so tender and the flavors were infused perfectly. The rice, the noodles and every single item that I tasted, was absolutely delicious! The service was awesome, our server was attentive, courteous and very pleasant. The restaurant was well-kept and tidy.
