Amma kitchen has become my go-to, reliable spot for consistent meals and tiffin items. Service is extraordinarily fast every time, although they have so many customers all the time. Prices have stayed very reasonable as well. I still visit them for Veg Thali, Meals Combos, Mango Lassi and Bisibelath. Parking can be a nightmare during special festivals as the temple nextdoor is really small but gets a lot of regular devotees which impacts entering/exiting the complex.

Amazing food. We ordered multiple dishes and all of them were amazing. It's a great takeaway place with great service and staff. I would definitely recommend chicken biryani, crab fry, pickles and chutneys. This place has become one of our regular takeaway places.

Amma's kitchen is a small south Indian joint and I visited it a week before Diwali. It is a budget-friendly restaurant for a taste of south Indian cuisine Here is the summary of my review: Ambiance: 2/5: Nothing genuinely extravagant. Looks like a regular lunch place in the busy streets of India. Small area with mostly tables and not in the name of decor or ambiance. Service 2.5/5: It took them over 20 minutes to get us two samosas (which I assume would have been cooked before) and a mickey mouse uttapam Food Quality and size: 3/5: The taste was good. The samosas were small and spicy and the uttapam did not have enough side dips Value for Money: 4.5/5: This is only area in which it does good since this place is cheap so if you want south indian food which does not create a hole in your pocket, you must visit Amma's kitchen. Overall, the taste and service could have been better. I will try their dosas and update the review

Love this place! It has dark windows and doesn't seem like much from outside. It is a very casual place. It has authentic South Indian food. They offer weekend specials like thali/platter. I highly recommend trying their Dosa and idly. They also have a range of pickles, sweets and beverages. They have indoor seating, it's limited. They offer dine in and take out. It is located in the same plaza as Hanuman temple on Cumming St. has ample of parking. There are benches in the green space outside but no table service outside. A must try for some comfort food if you're in the area.

A place for authentic home made style South Indian food. Have been here more than 3 times and every single time I had no regrets having food here. The food here is amazing with great quantity and at a very reasonable price compared to Aunty's Kitchen near by which is deteriorating day by day. A great and fitting competitor considering the level and speed of service offered. The first time I tried Paneer Dosa and as the name says it's just Dosa with shredded Paneer filling in place of Masala. The dosa was too good and moist unlike the dry Dosas we get at other places. The paneer was just shredded and added and literally no spice/ salt nothing. Had a plate of samosas as well. Wasn't that great but the chutneys were good. The next time I went for lunch on a Saturday, it was too crowded and hard to find a place. We got a Thali and it was just Wow to me! Was craving for Thali for quite some days and found this pure home style Veg Thali which included Pappu, Sambar, Gulab jamun, curd, pickle and 2 curries. There's a great demand for the thali here for its reasonable price and quality. The next time had Onion Dosa and they ran out of Sambar which I loved the most. I'm glad they atleast clarify the wait times and non availability of food up front than making us wait for hours like Auntys kitchen who gives a standard 40minute wait time to everyone. Had Badam milk along side this and it tasted great and subtle as well. No extra sugar or any colors as I could see. Just mashed Badam and milk and the food stays so grounded. The quality is all the more excellent which makes me revisit frequently. The ambience is simple and nothing special. The tables are kept clean more often than being piled up like Auntys kitchen and the plates are taken away as soon as we are done thus making way for other customers to occupy in no time. Weekends are a lot busy especially during lunch times so be prepared for a wait time of atleast 20-30 minutes to get a table for 2 or 4. BOTTOMLINE: A great place for home made style authentic Andhra-TN (South Indian) food that's delicious, priced reasonable, filling and doesn't bother your tummy. Crowded on weekends as it's close to the temple. MUST TRY: Veg Thali, Dosa varieties, Badam milk

This is a restaurant where most of the items are within the $10-$20 price range. I loved the no-frills ambience that reminded me of canteen stalls in Chennai, the sweet uncle (co-owner) Mr. Ramachandran who took my order and the featherlike Appam served with flavorful veg curry. They have many vegetarian options and the service beats everything. If you are in Alpharetta and haven't visited this place, you are really missing out. There are enough tables to host a big party. We came in for lunch on a Wednesday around 12:20. Everyone was getting the lunchbox so we decided to try the non-veg lunchbox ($9.99), it came with two sides, rice, naan, chicken wing, and Gobi. It was so much food and delicious. What a deal. Definitely recommend. We also got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Wow, the tikka was amazing. The chicken was very tender, not dry at all and the flavor was perfect, it wasn't too sweet like a lot of other places which I love. The naan was so fresh. The prices are more affordable than other Indian restaurants in the area. I'm so excited this place opened up next to us. The best Indian food hands down. Will recommend them to everyone.

The dish had some good flavors, so it's a bit difficult to describe exactly where it fell short--but much of the disappointment came from the eating experience itself. I ordered the goat biryani. While the goat was bone-in, it was overwhelmingly bone rather than meat. There were five pieces total; three were mostly bone with very little meat--perhaps a single bite combined--and the remaining two were largely fat. Although the fat was rendered well, the actual goat meat was nearly nonexistent. The spice profile showed promise, but many of the whole spices used--such as bay leaves, whole peppers, and spice pods--were inedible and abundant. Accidentally biting into them made for an unpleasant experience, and avoiding them required constant effort. I understand that whole spices are traditional in Indian cooking, but the quantity and execution here detracted from the dish. Additionally, the flavor leaned quite floral, which made the overall taste a bit unusual and not especially balanced for me. I also didn't care for the raita. It was very thin and lacked the cool, creamy yogurt flavor that typically brings contrast and refreshment to biryani. Instead, it tasted more bitter and sour. That said, the restaurant was packed, and I was the only white customer there, which speaks to its authenticity and strong local following. While this meal wasn't for me, it's clearly a place many people enjoy and trust.
